Hello everyone! o/

I'm a brand spankin' new member of the FFXIV: ARR roleplay community, and so I figured that I would post up my introduction here in hopes of meeting some people and making some connections! c:

1.)  My MMORPG Background

My MMO background isn't as extensive as some others', I'm sure. My first real MMO was FFXI. I played that for a number of years off and on. After that, I tried a number of F2P and P2P MMOs pretty casually, though none ever really impressed me. Just after patch 1.19 hit, I tried my hand at FFXIV 1.0 and found it pretty enjoyable. I fell into an OOC gaming community that I've stuck with to this day which now calls Excalibur its home! (:

2.)  My Roleplaying Experience

I've roleplayed for about twelve to thirteen years now, on and off, mostly on forum-based RP communities and websites. It's always been a hobby that I've really enjoyed as a writer and creative-type. However, I've never actually RPed on an MMO before. So in that regards, I guess I'm a total newbie. I'm still trying to get my bearings in the FFXIV RP community, so please be patient with me while I figure things out and try to get into character. ^^

3.)  Character Ideas

Right now, I only have one character:  Valeria Faron, a midlander hyur woman at the age of twenty-one. Without delving into too much detail here, she currently works as a part-time adventurer and full-time thief, cutting purse strings and lifting unsuspecting victims' valuables to fund her search for her older brother lost to her in the chaos of the days just before the Calamity.

4.)  My Roleplaying Style

As far as actually RPing, I'll probably fall in between medium and heavy on the spectrum. I really like the FFXIV lore and plan to stick to it as much as possible. (So if you spot me making a mistake, please tell me! I don't claim to be an expert, haha.) I'm also highly interested in character development, relationships between characters, keeping continuity, and realism.

However, if we're talking the amount of time I have to dedicate towards RPing, I'm more of a light to medium RPer. Most of my FFXIV time is spent on my character on Excalibur, where I help run a fairly large non-RPing Free Company / community. I also am part of a Coil static there, so my times on Thursday through Sunday are limited. Mostly, my RP times are during the day and occasionally on nights (NA central timezone).

Soo, yeah! That's my (long-winded) introduction. ^^; Hope I didn't bore anyone too badly, haha! I'm not quite ready to jump into RPing yet. Still feeling a little intimidated with the unfamiliar territory. But I would love to maybe find an RP community that wouldn't mind letting me creep for a bit and perhaps join in after I get a little more comfortable! c:

Haha just messing. Welcome to the board. I think I am becoming kind of a site goofball which is quite opposite of my intense and often serious character.

Good to see another RPer who is serious about the lore joining the server.

If you want to creep and look a little, I think the Harbinger can  help you with that, if you want to do a simple rp to introduce your character, poke me ingame Karaan Nolan.

And if you are looking for people to talk with in a link-shell, the Wing link-shell is friendly and have a lot of different kind of rper

Welcome on the website and on the server

Greetings and welcome to the RPC Ephemerality,

Forum RP is where I did the bulk of mine for a period, and while I have a bit more MMO experiance, I think a lot of the lessons you learn on the forums carry over fairly well. But either way, here are a few links that might help set you on your way.

This welcome post provides a small outline of the bulk of the RPCs resources (the wiki, calendar and all that stuff.)

The following hand book of Roleplaying by Eva is more of a guideline than a mantra, but I find it a great refresher if i've taken a break, and it helps fill in blanks that people might have from only RPing in one setting or another. There's a index at the top, so you can skip over areas you already feel confident in.

Aside from that, as far as groups go, there have already been a few recommended, and if you send me a tell in game i'm sure I can nose around to find a few additional, but for now here are two that I usually suggest.

http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=1902 Is the Intermission OOC channel where you can meet people from the RPC find out where people are, what they're doing, make a few friends and have a laugh.

You did how ever mention having "during the day hours" so perhaps

Might be better for you, while its a primarly EU linkshell, the time difference might meen that more people are online when you are.

they're both great groups how ever so "why not both?" as the commercial says. All that aside, please remember that the RPC is by roleplayers for roleplayers, if you have questions, comments, concerns, ideas, anything, feel free to make a post in the given thread, or make your own. Heck post em' here if you'd like.

Any who, back to work for me, best of luck in Eorzea! :cactuar:
