Yeah I just did that quest and noticed what that Roegadyn said and it made me wonder how many more might be in service in Ishgard.

What I was thinking for my Hyur lancer Byron to have him be of a vassal/retainer house in service to House Fortemps or House Haillenarte as both are the more likely to have dealings with adventurers. I also want him to have a certain prejudice against Elezen due to being passed over in favor of them, however I also want him to have some Elezen lineage that is unknown to him at first which would bring about coming to terms with himself and his preconceived notions. This percent would be either 1/6, 1/8, or 1/16 and displays itself in the form of his tall and slim figure and fine features. I would also like his Elezen blood to link him to something or someone in some meaningful way that isn't too out there.

One though is that his grandfather was a dragoon and that many years ago he killed a dragon by jumping straight down its throat and piercing it's heart, however he fell with it down a gorge and the two were never seen again. Once Byron becomes accomplished enough he could go looking for his grandfather's last battle and reclaim his spear and armor which would allow for him to get his relic gear without needing the direct blessing of the Holy See.

If this LS gets formed, and is open to any race/nationality then I'd -love- to join!

Kiht is no Ishgardian, but she may ICly know one. And she may get IC training in his skills soon :D I've been meaning to advance her simple lancer skills to that of something much more complex one day. I just wanted to go about it in a more meaningful way rather than just going *poof* = *Kiht becomes uber skilled with lance*

Sorry if this was off-topic and self-centered, I just wanted to put myself out there as someone interested in the LS being discussed.

I'd be so interested in helping you with that development, Kiht. It'd be a fun plotline, rife with conflict, considering that Vairemont wants nothing to do with Ishgard. He even gave up his lance.

But if someone could bribe/trick/beg him to help with a girl's training, he might have to take it out of storage.

Assuming she somehow found out he was ever an Ishgardian Knight to begin with.

You don't have to agree to this, just an offer. ^_^

Thank you!

However, I should have been much more clear in my post. I already have an RPer lined up to be Kiht's mentor. Funny thing is, he plays an Elzen ex-Ishgard Knight too. I said "Kiht may know an Ishgardian and may get IC training from him" because I am planning the RP plot with him OOC, but it hasn't happened yet...

I am sorry I gave the wrong impression. Your offer is very sweet. If the RPer I'm planning the plot with backs out of it, I would definitely take you up on your offer.

Haha no worries.

You'll find a lot of ex-Ishgardians just because of the very nature of Ishgard. No patriot would be caught outside of Coerthas for extended periods, as their precious city-state is constantly under siege by dragons. It's very hard to justify an Ishgardian character who frequents places outside of Coerthas without making him a fugitive or deserter.

I'd still be interested in getting myself entangled in some Ishgardian roleplay though. My character is now a merchant with a Lominsan trading company, and most of his day-to-day involves diplomacy and trade, when he's not drinking himself stupid at a tavern. Having a little something involving his past going on on the side would still be fun.

And that offer's open to anyone.

Hmm, the problem with Cedric is that he's lying to everyone about his origins. xD Still, I'm also very itnerested in getting Cedric entangled in some Ishgardian RP so he can finally stop running away from his past for the last 5 years.

How is everyone else RPing being from Ishgard? Is it something your character freely shares with strangers?

Don't play an Ishgardian, but two (possibly three) members of Lansquenet are from Coerthas. The two Elezen who are- Drividot and Darwyn- are pretty open about it, at least in discussions with other members of the free company. The third individual has only hinted at it ICly- she's not Elezen or Hyur, so I believe that plays a part in why she doesn't particularly want to talk about her homeland.

I wouldn't say my character really cares if people know that is where she is from... but she was more raised outside of the city then in due to her parents work. Plus she tends to try to forget her past after some recent events with her family. Leaving on bad terms probably doesn't help her to opening up about her home. I think she's only told a select few who managed to get close enough to get it out of her. Others knew her from her past and figured out who she was.

On the same note of why she tends to shy from admitting that is her homeland... she is kind of raising a young drake ic'ly ^^; the thought of ever really returning home terrifies her knowing what the thoughts on such a creature is.

  • 3 weeks later...

Quick question(s), did the Linkshell ever get off the ground? If so how do I get on board and is it ONLY Dragoons? I'm sure, like Vairemont and myself, you'll have Ishgardians who aren't ALL Dragoons or only Dragoons, for example.

If that's the case perhaps a better option would be to have a Dragoon linkshell for Dragoon related topics/discussion/mechanics questions etc, and an Ishgard one for more RP related things? Just throwing it out there =)
