Yeah' date=' I think SE made a pretty bad decision with the pre-order items. I was going to get the collectors edition (mostly because of the leather-bound concept art book, also because it's only $10 more considering the 30 days of free play), but then I saw that the standard edition came with EXPERIENCE BOOSTING GOGGLES. Umm, so even if the collector's edition gets to play 8 days ahead of time, that can be easily made up with those goggles. Not sure how much they boost XP, but in an MMO where you'll be devoting a lot of time, it's a clear decision.[/quote']

 

The goggles are only meant for people who start 8 days later to catch up to the CE people. I don't believe they are meant for you to use for the entire duration of your leveling process.

The goggles are likely just the same as FFXI's empress bands in that it probably only has so many charges. SE isn't the type of company to give a permanent exp boost to people.

Beside didn't we talk about the threshold to be an exp barrier not an hour barrier? You might be leveling faster, but for long time player it will definetly end quicker at the 15th hell gate. :tonberry:

 

So no use to the goggles unless you are a carefree chocobo :chocobo: roleplaying around and just leveling sometimes with a little :cactuar: boost.

EXP has less importance in this game than Skill points. Sure, they may catch up to us in EXP, but those who start early will have:

 

-More skills

-More items and gear

-Greater knowledge and skill in crafting

-Easier way to travel by using the Teleport option after visiting many landmarks early on.

-Overall, a far bigger boost in overall skill and development than those who start 8 days later.
