I never know how to title these things!

Hello guys and girls. I'm just not peeking my head into FFXIV:ARR in general after  very, very brief foray into it just at the beginning of the beta.

Brief stats, I'm a twenty-eight year old single nerd in the southeast US who works in the tech support field. I'm pretty sure someone playing forum-tropes bingo just won a round with that sentence alone.

I've RP'd for a while now, starting in chat rooms in the early days of the internet when I was eleven (and my parents really should have been watching me more closely) to forum RP and gradually leading into MMOs. Personally, I started out on City of Heroes experimenting with a very light RP group called the Simian Defense Force.

Yes. Hyperintelligent space monkeys were my first MMO RP characters.

Since then, I swiftly graduated to more all-around roles, mostly intermediate and heavy in terms of immersion, but I always make a point to try not to be an exclusivist.

Once City of Heroes shut down, I moved to Guild Wars 2, where the RP community is, sadly, becoming more and more toxic by the day and sort of ruining my fun.

Anyway, I'm thinking hard about setting down roots on Balmung. I haven't -fully- committed to the idea of a Miqo'te male, yet, but that's sort of where my mind is heading for the moment.

I strongly worry that some guys who roll up Miqo'te males might be the sorts who want to collect harems and try to show themselves as an alpha and such, though, and...No thanks. I just don't want to role-play a Hyur/human right now.

Personality-wise, my characters go all over the spectrum, but I'm -thinking- this time to roll up someone who is a somewhat prickly youngish recluse that is forced into the wide world and finds himself reluctantly enjoying it. Standoffish and defensive will all walls up by nature, but gratuitously caring and a bit lonely deep down now that he's around people. It's something basic to build off of without being too boring.

I'll be lurking around here for a good while, and I -may- ask about a mentor, but all of those references from the first post seemed to be from last year and I'm a bit worried they might be out of date as people come and go.

Welcome to the RPC! I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad time with the community on GW2, I've never played the game so I don't know much about it. If it's anything like WOWs RP community I don't blame you one bit for leaving.

Miqo'te aren't THAT bad! There's no harems around unless you plan on playing a Seeker of the Sun Nuhn (basically the strongest male in the clan that mates with all the females to make strong babies). I kid, I kid. There aren't any real harems that I know of at least. Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te are matriarchal and few in males so they end up mating with several women to keep the population going.

If you need any help with the game or lore (what little bit I do know) or want to bounce ideas off me feel free to send me a tell in game!

EDIT: Herpa derp! I just realized you haven't made your character yet. You can PM me on here too for whatever.

Gah, everyone misunderstands Miqos at first.

If those who roll male Miqo'te only wanted to build a harem, then all the Tias on the sever would be doing it wrong xD

I only see a few Nuhn once in a while, and it does make me wonder what their angle is; however, there are far more Tias, and plenty of Moon-keepers.

Sure, there are those who play Miqo'te in a stereotypical, or strange way, but that is true of all the races.

Jeez! You guys are awesome and thank you so much for the info!

I did end up rolling up a Miqo'te Seeker named M'sato Tia. He ended up looking a bit fox-like, which wasn't intended.

Tentative backstory is of a promising yet slightly too uptight young disciple of war (not planning on sticking him into a class and cementing it into stone) who is trying to understand the world around him when he suddenly begins to "hear" the voices of spirits in the aether. This has led him to begrudgingly pick up wand, staff, and tome in order to figure out what's happening to him before he's driven insane.

Personality traits: Cynical, perfectionist, grouchy, defensive, caring.

Likes: Moving his body, spicy foods, cooking, his routines.

Dislikes: Failure, loss of control, being off-balance, foolish pride.

Starting Class: Conjurer/White Mage

Classes to see later: Weapon arts (any/all disciplines of war for now), Arcanist/Summoner/Scholar.

I'm purposely going against placing firm limits as of yet because I'm still exploring the game and how I like playing it, hence the ambiguity. I liked the Seeker of the Sun's rather rounded stats that can be good for most any class, albeit somewhat beefy as a magic user.

Thanks again for the insight, guys!
