Effing Character Creation Issue

So I was trying to make a new character (so I could run the storyline quests with my brother) and found out that there's some kind of limit on how many new characters can be made at any one time.  I always thought that was per-account.  Seems like I can't make a new character on Balmung OR Gilgamesh.

 

How do I get around this?  Is there a certain time I need to be on?

It depends on the tier your account is on. The entry account is the one that's $13 per month and it limits you to 1 character per server, 8 characters total. The regular account which is $15 a month moves the limit to 8 characters per server, 40 total.

 

Edit: In case I misunderstood your question, are you getting a "server full" message instead? It's Sunday night so you will probably need to wait a while for people to go to sleep.

I'm a regular account.  Which I'm starting to regret if I'm not even going to be able to make my second character on Gilgamesh, much less my first on Balmung or even second character period.

Jut in case you missed my initial edit, what's the exact error you got? Maybe post a screenshot?

Well, no, I made a new character, got to the part where I pick a server, and both Balmung and Gilgamesh are grayed out.  It says, "This world is not accepting any new characters.  You may either wait for the restriction to be lifted, or you may select a different world.

 

Is this a really temporary thing, or should I just give up, save my appearance data, and wait until a certain day or time?

Temporary. I had a similar thing happen when I went to make a character on my boyfriend's server. Waited a day or two and the restriction was lifted.

Yeah, it's temporary! Don't fret, try again when the servers are calmer~ Depending on your time zone, a weekday morning has worked for me in the past.

Same here. A few days ago I was able to create a character in Balmung. A day or two later, Balmung and Gilgamesh both stopped accepting new characters. Then yesterday, half of the servers were closed off.

 

It's probably due to the PS4 beta phase 2 allowing everyone to play for free. Now that the beta just ended, I imagine the traffic will go down significantly so they should open up pretty soon again.

Update:  It's been almost a month.  I've been religiously checking, every day, whenever I log on, to try to create my second character.  Not a single day has gone by that I've been able to, and Orleans is still my only character.  This is a little frustrating, as I wanted to start another character for RP purposes.

 

What is a LOT frustrating is that I checked to see if there was a way to contact SE for advice (or to complain) and it seems like their online help center has been down for almost a week.

 

Is there a specific time or day I should check so I can get a spot?

To be honest, the only time I've seen spots open for Balmung is past 1:00 PST. Really, it seems the only way to get in is to wait for the vast majority of people to be logged out of the game.

I really, really don't think they need those stupid creation restrictions anymore. It's kind of ridiculous that it's harder to make a new character now than it was in the first month of the game.

So I have been coming across this trouble a lot more than post launch. Honestly I think what is going on now is not only the influx of PS4 players, but also now that they took away auto log out feature. I know a good chunk of people who almost never log out of the game (why? I have no idea) which is probably further clogging up character creation.

Ugh I can't believe this problem is rearing its head again...well, one of my friends just last week ran into the same problem but he waited until about 9 am GMT and was able to create on Balmung. So I'd just echo what's already been said, wait until people go to bed and snag a spot.
