justamemory Posted August 2, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 2, 2014 Hey All, It's dat FFXIV piano dood. I hope you are all still enjoying the game, I know I've enjoyed the crap out of the soundtrack Both the game and it's soundtrack have come quite a long way since I started arranging XIV tunes last July! At first it was just a fun time-killer before the game launched after anxiously getting a hold of the Beta Phase 4 OST Rip to quell those pre-launch jitters haha. At the time I had no plans of making out to be anything other than that. But as I shared them on Reddit and on YouTube, I received lots of interest and positive feedback (I'm still stoked to find out Masayoshi Soken enjoys some of my arrangements on his twitter!). I appreciate all the kindness and support people have shown me on YouTube, Reddit, by email or comments on social media--whether it was asking for sheet music, practice advice, to chat about video games, or to share their own rendition of something I arranged half-way across the world. I never thought I'd get any subscribers on YouTube over the years (being just a quirky enthusiast), let alone nearly 4K+! It's relieving to find a skill you have is valued by others and I enjoy sharing these sheets because it lets people connect closer to the music that inspires them. Piano is such an intimate yet versatile instrument in the way it can faithfully reduce such complex music to only 88 keys and 2 hands. I tried to arrange each track as close as possible to the originals to capture the unique feelings they give, but I did compose a few parts on some of the tracks. Thanks for your support! The album is titled: "A Towering Dawn". It came from one of those random lore-name generators for a Roegadyn back during beta that I thought was pretty epic so I kept it haha. All 36 tracks are now officially licensed and live in audio format at Loudr as of yesterday at http://ldr.fm/xcmSC ! It's great to finally be able to give back to the composers who made this even possible d(^.^)b A full audio preview of the album is available @ Also: in case you didn't have the chance before or were not aware, I do have sheet music (that comes with MIDI) available for all 36 of my arrangements. Send me an email at [email protected] if you're interested. NOTE: These are unofficial arrangements done completely on my own by studying the originals, and unfortunately, with no affiliation with Square Enix. Link to comment

synaesthetic Posted August 6, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 6, 2014 Impressive work there! What's even more impressive is that SE hasn't sent you a cease & desist letter, though... Link to comment

Looks like he licensed the tracks he released. Erutan, a popular singer on YouTube, has done the same with several FF songs. Link to comment

The beauty of Loudr is you submit covers to them and then they hunt down the copyright holders and have software that interfaces with the various royalty systems so they can get paid from each sale. Basically the album has to be OKd by SE (more specifically, Warner-Chappell) to be published on Loudr so its presence implies its acceptance Link to comment
