Naunet Posted November 6, 2014 Share #26 Posted November 6, 2014 Yeah shame about that timer or else you could have an entire nights worth of RP in a dungeon and really flesh out a story:D If you mean the 90 minute count down, that's just how long you have till the bonus rewards are revoked. It doesn't kick you from the instance when the timer runs out. It's always kicked you out... which was why I was so vocally against the instance timer in the past. Makes me a sad roleplayer. DreamedReality Posted November 6, 2014 Share #27 Posted November 6, 2014 Yep. Just tested it out. It will kick you at the end of the 90 mins. Thank you Jancis, Vaughn, and Z'enath for helping to test it out. Link to comment

Kyatai Posted November 6, 2014 Share #29 Posted November 6, 2014 I have yet to RP a dungeon here in FFXIV... but have often thought about it. I used to RP dungeon runs in Rifts, though, and it was a ton of fun. I miss it... and would LOVE to give it a go here in ARR. This game creates such lovely Dungeon environments!!!! Could you imagine some big RP event held in ST? After clearing everything... anyone know if you could go back 'downstairs'? Link to comment
DreamedReality Posted November 6, 2014 Share #30 Posted November 6, 2014 I don't know if you can backtrack in ST. Without dying anyway. But! I'd advise not clearing the last boss if you plan on backtracking in any dungeon. Since after you beat the last boss there is that 5 min timer before the instance boots you. Regardless of what the overall timer had been at. Link to comment
Kyatai Posted November 6, 2014 Share #31 Posted November 6, 2014 Hmmm.... I think an investigation needs to ensue! Quick, Jaques- to the Batmobile! (('course one way to get back to the beginning without 'walking backwards' is to die... ports you to the beginning.... then if you have everything cleared save Xande.... Boom. ORRRR maybe "Return"....)) I never really thought about the final boss thing... hm. I guess I was thinking we could wipe out a dungeon of all aggro, then have a nice instance playground. HonZoMon Posted November 6, 2014 Share #32 Posted November 6, 2014 Gah! I'm still yet to try this. I'd really love to see how it would play out. :geek: Link to comment
Stormsrage00 Posted November 7, 2014 Author Share #33 Posted November 7, 2014 I'm going to try for a test run in the next week or so. I'll sure to post my notes here as well as how it turned out! Link to comment
Zelmanov Posted November 12, 2014 Share #34 Posted November 12, 2014 I am actually about to tackle this issue in the upcoming weekend, visiting stone vigil (since it is a warzone technically) most likely, due to getting randoms..unless we tag a competent healer and tank we will be quiet and roleplay based on what happens afterwards.. However, don't know how to incorporate wipes due to brain dead tanks and healers >_> Link to comment

It's a slight twisting of the mechanic but it flows better in my eyes. Link to comment

However, don't know how to incorporate wipes due to brain dead tanks and healers >_> Same with the falling back idea, in my FC typically a wipe or even one person death results in an 'injury' which is whatever the player decides it to be. A leg, an eye, a concussion, broken bones. It's been free form as far as the severity of the injury, some people use dice to decide where and how bad, some people just do it from their mind or what they were fighting. Another 'death' would result in either a different injury or compounding the first one and at about three it was usually the person was out of commission. Obviously it's all up to interpretation, but I would definitely go with the flee/fallback/retreat/push the person out of your way while you run for your life tactic. Link to comment
Star Lin Posted November 14, 2014 Share #37 Posted November 14, 2014 See, I would still love to do an rp run for Kest's first dungeon. Unfortunately, I got tangled up with gearing up my main on another server, so I never got a chance to get back in touch with those that had offered to help out. Maybe one day, when I'm not working on my main, coming back and trying to do that Sastasha run. Link to comment

Fortunately that was not the case this time around. we very nearly wiped but both me and my friend came out of it squeaky clean (they rezzed and ran back instantly as we held our own) so we RP played it off as entering the vigil with other soldiers, them dying and being rescued last second by reinforcements. Which in my mind worked quite nicely since the Tank and Healer did not come from an RP server. Link to comment
Kyatai Posted November 19, 2014 Share #39 Posted November 19, 2014 I've found RPing a dungeon run works best with a preformed (RPer) group. They have the patience to 'take their time' when needed to tell the story. I still need to do this here in FFXIV too. :dodgy: Link to comment
