Higura Posted January 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 1, 2015 Greetings there, users of this website, it is I, the magnificent and brutal... That makes me seem like a pompous jerk; So Hi! I'm Higura! I'm twenty four years old, with about ten years of roleplaying history, mostly confined to forums and instant messaging, but I do actively roleplay on another MMORPG, but the community is non-existent there. I mean, maybe I'll get to engage the same two or three people regularly if I'm lucky, but a friend from that game told me that Balmung was 'where it be at'. I naturally came running, and have been doing battle with the character creation screen for about two days now! I'm.. still really new to this game, trying to figure out how to play. I was fortunate enough to get a character on Gilgamesh while waiting to get into Balmung. If you'd like to show me the ropes of the game, give me a crash course in FFXIV's brand of roleplay, and are on Gilgamesh, please add me! (Galeron Hyten) I cannot guarantee that I'll stick around that server if I ever get into Balmung though! As for my character I want to play on the Balmung server, I was considering having him shipwreck in Eoreza from this other game, mostly since I know nothing of the lore or game world, and it'd be a good way to learn the ways of the world with him playing completely dumb. However, reading on this forum I get the feeling that people aren't too fond of porting characters from other games... So; I don't know what I'll do. I think that's all I should type! I hope to meet some of you people soon! Link to comment
Delilah Scythewood Posted January 1, 2015 Share #2 Posted January 1, 2015 Hello and welcome! My FC loves having new players that we can all coddle and help out as they figure things out, and I've helped one friend get back into the game while another is also trying this game for the first time. It's a lot of fun seeing everything from new eyes again Here's my FC link if you're interested! It's easier to get into the server between 4AM-8AM CST I've found, since I've had to make a few new characters. Hope to see you in game soon! -Lili Link to comment
Higura Posted January 1, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted January 1, 2015 /words Yes, I've tried getting into Balmung for the past two days, spending this morning in particular from 3 AM to 9 AM central time, trying every three minutes, while watching television. ...It was dreadfully boring. (And I didn't get in. -Huff-) I know that an FC is like a guild, so.. I'm not entirely sure what to join as of yet. ...What's a linkshell though? Link to comment
Delilah Scythewood Posted January 1, 2015 Share #4 Posted January 1, 2015 A linkshell is basically like a chat channel. You can have up to 7-8 linkshells at a time that are for any given reason! Some are IC channels or for RP discussions. Some are for raids and PvP. And some are just private channels where people can relax and hang out and chat! FC is like a guild, yes, and there's plenty on this server to choose from depending on what you're looking for for a character Link to comment

Aris Posted January 3, 2015 Share #6 Posted January 3, 2015 Hello hello Higura! Welcome to HPC and wonderful world of FFXIV. :chocobo: Everyone is friendly and helpful here, so if you ever have any questions please do ask, whether they're related to lore or game play itself. If you'd like company doing your first dungeon or trial, just give us a shout because I know nearly everyone will be happy to come along and explain anything. I'm on Balmung, but hopefully look forward to seeing you soon? I live in the UK, and have noticed it's often open between 3am-11am EST, or after (and before I think some have said) maintenance. Saving a character ready and knowing all the details might be helpful so you can create him quickly. Link to comment
