New to Balmung- don't know where to start RPing!

Just joined Balmung and looking to join an RP linkshell or Free Company that is pretty active. It gets pretty boring for me to play alone with no one to talk to. I'm new to RPing on FFXIV however I'm pretty experienced on Gaia (semi-lit. to adv.-literate) so if someone could explain to me the dynamics of how it works here that would be great! nwn 

 

I'm also very new to this website so I'm not sure how to create my character profile/where to put it, heh.

Welcome to Balmung! There are plenty of FCs out there that are looking for recruits! The question becomes what you would like to be.

 

Perhaps a student learning their way to becoming an Adventurer? - USH

Out for adventure and excitement? - Coral/Dove

Want to just sit down and work in a dubious shop? -DO-BS

Looking for a tribe to become a part of? - Several miqo'te tribes about, best ask for preferences

 

 

As for the Wiki, there are templates you can use. I always learned from experience so if you need to you are free to rip from my Wiki and just take out my information and put your own in.

There's a page that lists active Linkshells and companies across both servers, The Linkshell hall. It should be kept up to date, but you can always ask the leaders if they're still active.  Give it a look through and see if there's anything that strikes your fancy!

Adding on to what 4wheel said, take a look at the Open RP linkshell. It's sort of a meta linkshell for roleplayers on Balmung. Friends of Momodi is good, too, though it's more focused on Ul'dah.

Without outright repeating what others have said, it's also pretty easy to find rp encounters in any of the starter cities, although I still find Ul'dah to be the most active of the three. If you are still getting a feel for just what direction you want to take your character some random encounters first night help to focus you a bit. 

 

As for the FCs from my perspective, I can think of too many that I personally enjoy, and I would suggest looking into them after you know how you intend for your character to be. It may sound unhelpful but knowing your character fits before entering a FC is pretty awesome, at least imo.
