sephler Posted February 16, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 16, 2015 Hey all, I just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself to the community. I'm Sephler or Sephy if you'd like. I've been on FFXIV for a little bit now and am excited to get into the RP scene of things. First I just wanted to give props to the community for being so organized and friendly. I've been able to learn a lot about the community and game just through this resource. Everyone seems really friendly as well which always helps. My biggest question right now is if transferring to Balmung is really worth it? I hear so much about how great it is for the RP community, of course will all the restrictions on it when I first began the game I started on Gilgamesh which is where my main is now. -But I can transfer if it really is worth it. What are your thoughts? I know there is a small RP scene on Gilgamesh, think I should stay there to try to help build it back up? Anyway, thanks for the info and I look forward to see you guys in Eorzea! Link to comment
Ligardian Dreamer Posted February 16, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 16, 2015 Hello and welcome! I agree that this is quite an awesome community. Here's to more wonderful memories! People here will probably, and likely, tell you to go with whatever floats your boat, basically. In my opinion, and if I recall correctly, Balmung simply has more numbers in their ranks due to the legacy players, which makes Balmung to have such a high popularity in the RP scene... However, that makes Balmung hard to get into due to character creation locks. On the other hand, you have Gilgamesh who DOES have an establish RP community and they even have their own website (I don't recall what is the url but I'm sure someone will find it or you should be able to find it easily). It may not be as big but it certainly would not be a crime if you decide to start something up there. I suppose it provides an opportunity where you have plenty of room to start something there as oppose to Balmung, where you're likely to join one of the numerous FCs and LSs that currently exist on the server... You are welcome to make one of your own (should it interest you) of course! That is just my opinion though. I've been pretty invested in Balmung so what I say about it can come off biased X3 But also be aware, as you may already be aware of, that money may be what discourages people from making the attempt to transfer to Balmung. Otherwise, perhaps my suggestion is to try to look for openings in Balmung while you continue to play on Gilgamesh. When you manage to get your char into Balmung, you do your thing and see, from there, which server will you invest most of your time in. Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy your time here! Good luck, and, "May the path in the light of the crystal" be filled with many memories and experiences! Link to comment
Magellan Posted February 16, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 16, 2015 Gilgamesh has moved their community here: http://www.gilgamesh-rp.com. maybe try it out, see if it floats your boat, and if not, then invest in a transfer. I've played on both servers and can recommend both communities, though Balmung certainly has the advantage in sheer size department. Link to comment
Maril Posted February 16, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 16, 2015 Welcome! I can only state that the RP on Balmung is plentiful and there are many kind FC's around. If I were you, I would research thoroughly and perhaps even look into talking with the leaders/officers of an FC you might want to join upon transfer. I think the whole if it's worth it really depends on what people you meet - it might even be that what you are looking for already exists on Gilgamesh Link to comment
Branson Thorne Posted February 16, 2015 Share #5 Posted February 16, 2015 Although I have all 8 slots on Balmung, I can't fully say I'd recommend the $18.00 it takes to server transfer. (I used to) Now, I say get in when the server permits you, don't spend the money. Link to comment
