What Kind of a Free Company Are You?
As we always aim to maintain a chill and friendly atmosphere where anyone is able to be themselves.
We are a Casual Free Company First always with everything else added on as extra activities and events.
Though we have a dedicated theme and elements that cater to RP we do not require people constantly be doing so.
Rather we'd like to see people take advantage of the FC Locations, Theme, and so on when they feel up to it on their own.
Plus we have a handful of members who have been in and out of the RP scene for a good amount of years and are always open to invitations to do so.
How Many Active Members Do You Have?
Though we understand and respect that finding the right Free Company can involve asking the right questions. And we fully support players taking the time to get to know the groups they have an interest in for the sake of finding a worthwhile experience. We, however, prefer people take a chance on us and find out for themselves instead of asking outright and making assumptions of their own based on response.
Since we are a Free Company interested in keeping our numbers small on purpose for the sake of getting to know our members proper to avoid them feeling like just another number.
This inevitably does come with periods of time that feel slower. Though we won't outright refuse to answer this question if asked as we always strive to keep 100% transparency with all members whether current or new. We want it made clear that if you have to ask this question then we are more than likely not the Free Company your looking for and that's okay. We would rather players find the right match for their playstyle and preference so they can have the most fun while playing the game. Besides, your always welcome to visit and take part in public events even if you don't join our ranks in some way.
When is the Free Company Most Active?
Since most of our members are from the United States, Canada, and Europe we have a bit of a fluctuation when it comes to activiity. When things are lively, it's usually between 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM Eastern Standard Time though we do have some who show up early in the morning and afternoons from time to time. We'd love to get more players who are around at odd hours so that there is company to be had at most hours of the day but it's a gradual work in progress.
How Big of a Free Company Do You Intend To Be?
As mentioned before, we have every intention of keeping the Free Company reasonably small in numbers for the sake of members feeling like they belong. Too often have some of us been a part of a bigger Free Company in the past only to feel like there was clique mentality or that there was no chance to engage.
Which is why The Emerald Oasis aims to keep it roughly to a maximum of around 30 to 50 members at the very most, that way activity is there but not suffocatingly so. Also to avoid any deep rooted clique mentality forming or shadow politics invading on the main purpose which is to get to know people and have fun.
We want this Free Company not to feel like just another group but a place for people to be able to be themselves to the fullest and call home. Which makes it all the more important for those who join to have the drive to really want to get involved and make the best of their experience with us.
Do You Have Newer Players and Beginners?
Yes, we have some players who are completely new to the game and in some cases even completely new to MMOs in general. We even have some members who were off on hiatus from the game for months or years and have come back to dip their toes into the waters once more.
We always ecourage New Players to join when we recruit just as much as we do Veteran Players as we understand it can be crazy to know where to start with joining a guild. Overall we've always outreached to New Players at every chance we get because we want to give them a good starting ground and help out as much as possible. Even if they don't stick around forever this Free Company takes pride in being able to help any new adventurer hit the ground running and send them on their way. Heading into Eorzea, hopefully, with a better vision of what they want from their experience in game than when they first started on their lonesome.
Plus we know that it can be intimidating to be a newer player surrounded by long time veterans, so we do our best to have a mix to ease that discomfort.
Do You Do Any Sort of Content?
Yes but it's not our only priority as we are a Casual Free Company that focuses more on the players rather than what we do. We are Casual Community first, RP Second, with everything else sprinkeld in when we have the people and the inspiration to do so together.
Through the week we have people who don't mind doing anything from daily roulettes, to level grinds, crafting, and just about anything you can think of. There have been many talks throughout our time together about doing more high level, end-game content once we have more people available to do so. And every expansion drop we do our best to get each other leveled up, geared out, and ready to jump into new dungeons, raids, ect.
Every week we host a Weekly Content Night on Mondays. In which we do anything from Map Parties, to Extreme Progs, Mount Grinds, and more. We also do a Tavern RP Night on Wednesdays that is open to the public. Where we encourage members to break out of their shells and make some new friends all in the comforts of a warm and welcoming atmospshere. Both of these events usually run between 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM EST.
That all said we do not do content for the sake of hardcore progression and we do not jump on content as intensely as other Free Companies in that regard. Rather we prefer content be something that brings people together naturally and for fun sake rather than obligation. So if your looking for a consistent high level raiding experience, this is definitely not the Free Company for you.
