Though I've not followed naming conventions very strictly, I have adapted my name to suit a Sea Wolf persona. Xanthe means 'yellow' or 'fair hair' and it's from the Greek. Morganach, (or Morgan) the surname is from Ireland, Wales and Scotland - part of my own RL heritage. It also means 'of the sea'. So therefore, my character's name in traditional Roegadyn would be something like 'Blonde/Fair-Haired Sea Defender/Warrior'. I would have no idea how to write that. Just because it's not exactly right, though, doesn't mean it can't fit in with your characters. I think my name works perfectly well and i'll be sticking with it. I could always from an RP aspect point out that she might have a 'true' Roegaydn name but doesn't like to use it and if she's been around people from other cultures a lot, made a choice to take a new name. That's just my personal opinions about it, though.

I heard how awful this game was in 1.0 and stayed away, but if I had known the RP community was this strong, I might've endured it. What's great about RP, though, is that you can make your own content! I hope you stick around!

I. Basic Info Characters: Guldthota Syhrdoenwyn Primary character: Same as Above Linkshells: Currently Unaffiliated Primary RP linkshell: Currently Unaffiliated II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I like to stay in character for the most part. I like to join in, or even just observe events but I also like to RP one-on-one. Ultimately it’s just about taking the RP opportunities that come my way and adapting to them. So, I guess I could range from medium to heavy. Views on RP combat and injuries: As long as this isn’t overdone, I don’t have a problem with it. I think it’s really hard to RP in actual combat, though I have no problem doing a planned dungeon run with this in mind. Views on IC romance: I guess it’s like real romance, as long as it isn’t forced or awkward (and it really can be) then it’s fine. Obviously it can be a very private type of RP, unless it’s an angst love triangle, but if it fits in with the characters then I personally don’t have a problem with it. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I find this really interesting, the whole friends, enemies, bonds of loyalty and brotherhood is really what I like to RP as it's the main point of character development, both your own and the person you're RPing with. Views on lore: I’m actually really interested in the lore. While I’m no expert, I do like things to stay ‘realistic’, if that’s the right word. Having something that isn’t justifiable within the lore (and I like to think I am quite lenient) makes it harder to RP well. I’m not against player-created content or events as they can actually be some of the most interesting parts of RP. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): As far as I can remember, there are public channels (like, region/world/etc) which I usually treat OOC. If I /whisper and it is OOC, I’ll let the person I am chatting to know. Otherwise I like to stay in character. III. Hello everyone! It's good that this forum seems incredibly active, I'm looking forward to RPing with everyone. I don't really know what people usually write in these things? Um, I plan to roll a Roegadyn (as you can see from my avatar). Who can resist the lure of an incredibly short frost giant? Heh. Currently playing the Beta on PS3, but switching over to PC when the game launches. I'm not really overly familiar with the lore for Eorzea and I haven't seriously RP'd in years, so I'll ask that people are a little bit forgiving. I used to play FFXI way back but since I got incredibly bored of WoW three years ago I've left MMOs alone. Anyway, I'll probably be looking for a Linkshell that'll help me out with both character development and in-game content. Other than that, anyone is free to message me! Thanks, this is an amazing resource. Although even the smallest Roegadyn is a foot taller than I would've liked them to be, but they are based on frost and fire giants so it does make sense. It does make me wonder whether I should play Hyur Highlander though...
