  1. Tranquility is a rank 1 spell. I received it and all 6 of the elemental spells when I equiped my conjurer weapon for the first time. I started as a weaver.
  2. This is no longer correct in the retail version. Bric-a-brac only carries Thaumaturge and Lancer items now. The vendor that has the Conjurer item now is in the group of stalls East of the main gate where the botony, lumber, blacksmith, and armorsmith vendors are at.
  3. If there is a particular person that is being rejected, the first place to start is checking the spelling. One bad character in the name will cause it to fail. In the case of guildmates who are just joining the game, make sure they have actually created and logged in with the character before you try to add them.
  4. Is there a command in game for reporting spammers? Haven't looked for it yet since I have yet to see any, but it would be handy to know once that situation does come up.
  5. I am not sure the colors are tied to a specific type of action. In my experience, this is the way it seems to be: Gold - High chance of success. Good gains for success, lessened losses for failures. White - Normal chances all the way around. Red - High chance of fail. Big losses. Smaller gains. Best to wait. Multicolor - High risk, high reward. Success/fail rate seems average, but the gains and losses seem to be big. I have also noticed that success chains and failure chains seem to change the odds. For example if you get 2 or 3 failures in a row, you seem to have a much higher chance of failing from that point on, even if you have a gold orb. On the other hand, landing 2 to 3 successes in a row seems to boost the characters confidence and they seem to get a solid success rate even multicolor and red orbs.
  6. From what I have seen, the 8 per 48 rule only applies to regional levequests. You can still do the local levequests to work on crafting and also earn additional exp and rewards.
  7. Good to know that is the case. However, using +X mats also raises the starting durability in the synthesis process, so there is a little extra room for mistakes or possibly some extra bold attempts when you are of appropriate level.
  8. It sounds like you have a valid reason for that combination of letters, so don't worry about it. If you are comfortable with the name, go with it. If there is truely something wrong with it, I am sure a GM (or SE equivalent) will tap you on the shoulder and let you know it has to be changed.
  9. I am not sure all aoe is a circle. One the main FFXIV website, they use a cone projecting from the player for describing some of the Thaumaturge effects.
  10. In my experience, if you put mats into the crafting box that can make something, it will bring up the recipe even if you are not able to craft it. If you do try to craft something that you do not meet the requirements for, it gives a message in your chatbox in purple that tells you which skill is not high enough. And as for being able to successfully craft items, whatever the minimum skill level to craft an item is +5 is about where you need to be to successfully craft the item on a regular basis. That was the rule I used in XI and it seems to be holding true here as well.
  11. This sounds correct to me. Using ctrl+R, I was able to bring up names of people I had sent a tell to already, but those people had not yet sent me a tell yet, so it is not a "reply".
  12. The answer to your question is to make friends with those of us who plan to make weaving our primary profession.
  13. I have found a few recipes not listed on the database sites yet, both through leves and through just experimenting with materials I have on hand. However, I am not planning to post to the databases until the game actually goes live. No sense in posting it now when beta is subject to change at any time.
  14. So here is an interesting observation, I was one of the people stuck at the 94.8% and the link above worked to get me to 100%. The interesting part is that the file I downloaded from the link and the file that was stuck at 94.8% were the exact same size! Down to the byte, they seem to be identical. Not sure why one worked and the other didn't, but it is letting me log in now. *shrug*
