  1. I know we've pretty much all have come to the same conclusion about what's going on with the foggy memories, but I thought I'd post this here as well. During the last hour of the beta I rushed through the main storyline quests to get to the scene I remember seeing, and it pretty much lays out exactly what has and hasn't been wiped from memory.
  2. I really have been looking forward to getting more into fishing, and I'm not so much devastated as I am confused. If the fish are no longer valuable, are they still used in recipes? Do you still need them to skill up your culinarian job? What's going on there? It's all still very confusing, and it seems we won't know much until at least phase 4...
  3. Happy to hear that you got the help you were looking for Aehtel! Sorry to hear about your depression and loneliness, and I know all too well how it feels, but just remember to keep your chin up and stick with it! ^.^
  4. I think it might be better if the mentees were to choose their mentors, instead of the other way around. (Actually, I think that's mostly how it was intended to work in the first place) Having one person picking up all the mentees just because they're quicker at it isn't exactly fair to the newbies who I feel deserve more one on one attention than a mentor with seven or so mentees can provide.
  5. You're fine, Weffrey, you needn't apologize for having your priorities. I hope to see more of you in the future in whatever capacity.
  6. Actually I think you've got it backwards, from what I saw from the Gridania questline. Everyone remembers the deeds and the fact that they fought in the battle, but not the names or the faces. Rhio's mother would remember that her daughter went to fight the Garleans and disappeared after Bahamut's attack, and she'd remember her interactions with her, but her name and face would probably elude her. Sort of like in the ending of FFVIII where everyone's faces are blurred out and indiscernible. They're still there in your memories, but you can't quite make them out. At least, that's the impression I got.
  7. I already have a mentee, so I won't be greedy, but don't forget Nhyra. I don't want her request for a mentor to be lost in the flood of posts.
  8. Nice RP'ing with you too, Arky. I see some arr pee for us in the future. And it was AWESOME what happened in the last hour on that server. Us two RP'ing attracted the ENTIRE CITY! The whole pub was in smoke with emote posts! Such a pleasant thing to realize that so many people were ignorant of a RP community in this game and delighted to hear we exist! It was quite the sight, I didn't expect that in the slightest, nor did I expect to run into so many people I knew in 1.0. Made me so happy, plus the new people were sweet. You included. Wait, I didn't hear about THIS reaction! Why didn't you screencap that?!
  9. Just added you, Deirdre. Mine's 5112-3596-4223
  10. Wow, what a great find, Cass!
  11. Fernehalwes sends us another report shortly after touching down in Los Angeles!
  12. Fernehalwes sends us another blog post filled with a small taste of the Limsa Lominsa and Ul'dah opening scenes. Drinking in public? Hardly becoming of the normally well behaved moogles.
  13. Unfortunately I'm going to be moving to WA about 6 months after ARR's release. I'll only be able to enjoy living a few hundred miles away from the servers for a short while.
  14. No ping, destination not reachable. Thanks for trying, though.
  15. I've got a 39ms average too. Sounds like things are going to be super fast. Out of curiosity, do we have the ip address for the Japanese servers, just so we can compare?
  16. Really? You were a latecomer (if I remember right) but I thought you've established yourself pretty well. If you're having problems writing for your character I'd be happy to help.
  17. Moved to the Welcome Desk and stickieded. Awesome I'll send you a PM here soon.
  18. I'd like to second this. We're all players here, and I'm seeing a lot of blind generalizing here. Not all players who were here before 1.0 ended are of the same mind or of the same opinion. Treating them so is unfair to everyone.
  19. I wouldn't mind taking you on if you'll have me, Cornet.
  20. I guess I've already taken Ryanti under my wing, but I could definitely handle a couple more if they're willing.
  21. I don't want to trivialize concerns that a few here have voiced about joining a server with players who already have a head start, but thinking about it in the long term, the idea of a separate RP server for the express purpose of having a place where new players can go and be on a level playing field with everyone else is utterly unsustainable. The non-legacy servers for new players will not stay new. The players on that server will catch up to everyone else in the content, and then suddenly the only reason anyone ever had for going to a separate RP server will be gone. Future newcomers will not have the luxury of starting on a brand new server unless SE opens more servers. And if that happens, what if new players who are just coming on to the scene want to start on yet another new server? Will we try to support a third RP server? What about a fourth server after the third server is no longer new? When will it end? Not to mention the confusion that will crop up for new players when they're told that there's more than one RP server. Most newcomers looking primarily for RP gravitate to where the most RPers are, and for good reason. More people means more opportunities for roleplay. It's for that reason that I want to prevent splitting the community as much as possible. It will be better for everyone in the long run.
  22. Ferenhalwes forwards another message from Sound Director Soken... It looks like we might be in for a treat during E3.
  23. I can't imagine that they'd announce all these servers now and then not have them all available at launch.
  24. Unfortunately I can't agree that a second server would be fair for everyone. This problem appears to have no solutions that are fair for everyone. Either the RPC refuses to support a second server and ostracizes some new players who aren't willing to give it a chance and could have contributed to the community, or the RPC segregates the community and players are inevitably forced to choose favorites among their friends, or make friends with a forum goer only to realize that you can't play with them unless you remake your character for use in a parallel universe. Community events will have to be segregated as well, and will not include the entire community unless the organizer is willing to put in twice the amount of effort. Even then, we will not be one community, and that I think is at the heart of the issue here. I don't like seeing people go when they could stay, but if you're so intent on going to another server, I think perhaps it's for the best that you try to start a community of your own.
