Where do you see if they are going to be an FC? I don't see that listed on most of the pages.

Are you going to be just a linkshell or full Free Company?

From most of the posts on the linkshell tab, it is very difficult to tell that. For instance Crystalline(?sp?) looks like a linkshell but talks like a free company... conversely misericorde talks like a free company, looks like a linkshell but IS a free company! argh! the confusion!

Thank you for all of the information. This is a lot more clear now. This is actually a great idea as it usually happens that I find a great RP guild that doesn't participate much in end game activities. I love the end game activities as much as RP'ing. Another question, is there a list of what linkshells everyone on RPC should join if they can? Such as the aforementioned ooc channel?

Sorry in advance for the question, which I am sure is answered. Is there a "wardrobe" or costume type system in place or will there be one? I.e. Wow's transmog, Rifts wardrobe system, etc... There is some truly good looking gear in this game that I would love to use the look of well into my late game, but I obviously don't want to sacrifice stats... I have looked through the beta forums, and the open forums and can't find an answer about this.

Awesome post! how is this not stickied? Question, during beta, I didn't see my CP going up. I made it to about level 14 with culinarian and I had the same cp throughout. did i miss something? The only time it seemed to go up was when I ate food that increased it.

Ok, being both new to ff14:arr and to these boards and FF14:arr RP in general, I am a little confused on the linkshell vs. free company idea. Now, correct me if I am wrong, but a linkshell is basically a chat channel. That is all it is. You communicate via little devices that look like little shells that you put in your ear. You can be a member of up to 8 different linkshells. Does this mean your linkshell device is attuned to 8 different ones? or do you have to keep putting a different earpiece in?! So, how is the RP community using these? Are they organizations of like minded individuals? Or a global ooc or IC channel? On to Free Companies. A Free Company is more like a traditional guild, yes? What makes it truly different from a Linkshell? Where are free companies recruiting? I see a section on the boards for linkshells, and are most Free Companies derived from linkshells? I have a bunch more questions, but I think this sums up the initial concerns.

Sea Wolf Naming Conventions . There's a reason it links to a dictionary. That's exactly what I was looking for! Well, I will follow the naming convention for my last name. My Roegadyn is a young sea wolf pirate! Being born and raised in Limsa Lominsa, and fed a diet of pirate stories, the young man naturally took to the sea as soon as he was able. However, those pirate stories were more fiction than fact and he quickly realized that in order to live out his pirate dreams that he would have to be more fiction than fact. He speaks with an aggrandized pattern of pirate speak and nautical terms. Pretends to be a bit on the daft side, and is always boisterous and bold! He doesn't drink, yet always has a flagon with him, and you'd swear he was usually drunk. He is, however, a very good sailor and warrior. The rest is an act based upon what he believes pirates should be. It is a similar theme to your gladiator! I swear I didn't steal it!

Oi! I can't wait to get started either! Playing in beta 3 made me pre-order quick as a bunny. I didn't RP during the beta test as I was "testing"!

Ahoy there me hearties!!!! I have finally found you, FF14:arr roleplayers! Stand fast ye scurvy dogs! On a serious note, I just got into this game with the relaunch and the last few beta weekends. I am an avid roleplayer from a plethora of other MMO's and am very excited to see what the FF14:ARR community has to offer. This seems to be THE site to go to in regards to RP in the game, so... here I am! Also, looking for an RP free company :cactuar:
