Au Ra Customization: Horns and Faces
X'havir Vahl replied to Altitis Acquired's topic in FFXIV Discussion
This is incorrect. The category the Lingal rings fall into is "Colorable Static Addition" In which the following races get: Hyur, Lalfell, Miqote Seeker, Roe, Elezen Duskwight: Tattoos Miqo'te Keeper, Elezen Wildwood: Ear Clips Au Ra get neither of these - they get Lingal rings instead. Horn rings or ends are a static addition listed under what would otherwise be "Facial Features" Category for other races. The only cases in which some races get 'more depth' than others is those who get muscles slides do not get to select 'Muscle Shape' in the same manner that Tails and ears get shape options. I honestly forgot all about tattoos probably because the choices are such crap for them to begin with. You get way more choice with the face paint and all the races get those. -
Au Ra Customization: Horns and Faces
X'havir Vahl replied to Altitis Acquired's topic in FFXIV Discussion
You guys keep bringing up lalafel and elezen ear customization but forget miqote gets tail options but not ear like the Au ra get tail options but not ear. And I've seen people cry since launch for miqote ear customization (though thats tied to hairstyle, not face and yes there are some differences) and nope, not happening. It's similar levels of customization options. And remember the Au Ra get the lingal rings and ring colours. That's an added layer the other races flat out do not get. And while I would love for more, this is one of the few games I can get very unique looking characters from a limited set of predefined features. I don't think they will break horns from faces honestly. I would like for them to adjust the colour of the extra horns that go with the hairstyles to match Raen or Xaela though. -
To Plot or to Not: The Question, the Debate
X'havir Vahl replied to Arelian Solin's topic in RP Discussion
I like both. Slice of Life is nice for when scheduling is a pain and you only have an hour here or there in game to actually RP so just hanging out in the fc house waiting on a queue and chatting with members icly. I also like the long arching plots that when mixed with the daily interactions, make for a nicely rounded character. I just wish I had more time to do them. So both, both are good. -
You can find us in the Goblet: Ward 3 Plot 12 if you wish to make in person inquiries.

So you're interested in the Grim Echo... If you've heard of us, it probably involved something dangerous, forbidden, or stomach turning. And on some level, that's just what we're about. We're a bunch of very different people coming together to advance common goals, the most overreaching of which is laying the Empire low. What we all have in common is a focus that polite society deems, shall we say, overkill. Find yourself left behind because your methods are a little too extreme? You might fit in with us. We're home to evil witches, mad scientists, murderers, thieves, rogues and rakes, the fanatically obsessed, the generally antisocial, and of course the kind of psychopaths that seem absolutely charming on the surface. Just don't turn your back on them. But because we understand this about each other, we can encourage and support each others' eccentricities and accomplish surprising things, great things. Also, these people, our kind of people, Grim kind of people generally have a taste for power of some kind, often the kind the general populace don't approve of, e.g. forbidden knowledge, dark magic, direct command over the minds and souls of others, or simple supremacy in any and every form. In our quest for this kind of power, Grim don't let anything stand in our way - not heroic idealism, not social acceptability, not hordes of hideous monsters. We like to go out there and get what we want, no matter what it takes. Stop at nothing, that's us. Our former glorious leader liked to call it "Victory by any means." So if you're the kind of person who believes your goal, whatever it might be, justifies whatever you need to do to get it, even (especially?) if your family and polite society would disown you for your methods, then you might be right up our alley. What we're looking for... We're looking to fill out our roster with those interested in taking on greater and greater challenges. Of course, the healers and the vanguards, or whatever you want to call the people who let themselves get hit while everyone else is busy hitting, those types are valuable. How to join us... Easy. Just drop off a letter introducing yourself. Someone will track you down and get in contact with you. ((This way, folks: https://thegrim.org/ffxiv)) Looking for more information... We've got some files available for public viewing. Feel free to read as much as you want. You can also leave a message for X'havir Vahl, our leader, with any questions you have, any way that works for you. Always happy to help. ((Public forums: https://thegrim.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=71 Sending a PM here, at the Grim forums, posting on this listing, or sending tell in-game should all work fine for contact methods.))

Updates! After several weeks in a house in Limsa we have upgraded! You can find our company quarters complete with fresh paint and new fixtures in The Goblet: Ward 3, Lot 12. Stop by and say hello. Our door is open. Beware the odd bit of rearranging and redecorating still happening.

What exactly is it that i would be missing if instead of having 1 character do them all. Having 4-5 characters do 1 or 2 each. Cause I can transfer the items between characters right? or is it a "skill" i would be missing? Like with the War and Magic classes, you can cross-class abilities between the crafting classes. So you miss out the nice cross class skills to help between crafts and you can't easily transfer items between characters cause you can't mail to yourself. The easiest way to do it is have them both in the same free company and transfer via the company chest but its cumbersome. As I see mentioned in the reply above this one. >.> You can of course do one or two per character, it just means HQing 2star and above is going to be very very difficult if not impossible.

You can get away with leveling one craft. It just takes more work for HQing things in the end. And the mastery is obviously extremely hard without the boosts of abilities from other crafts. But if you want it for the fun stuff, housing pieces and some of the lower level vanity type pieces (1star below) then it's fine with none of the others. I farmed/bought mats for the leve quests then tried to concentrate on leves that returned materials back to me. Such as the ones that gave me diremite webbing for weaver or electrum as a goldsmith. With my first crafter I just grabbed leves and did them all. With later ones I picked the more efficient leves(looked at them on the leve quest giver, noted which one turned in in the city for higher XP) and hunted materials specific for those then would go on a crafting spree of making/turning in. If you are willing maybe pick up one other craft on each character that complements the craft you like best to help avoid having to shop for some of the materials on the market. Something like leatherworker for your weaver and I don't know, carpentry or blacksmithing for your armorsmith? That gives you access to a few of the unique crafting abilities without needing to level all the classes or spend gil on some of the crafted materials you need.

How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch?
X'havir Vahl replied to Dat Oni's topic in Character Workshop
X'havir is fairly ok with casual touching. Especially from people he knows. If he doesn't want it, he'll simply grab your wrist and say no. Or step away. -
I practice the fine art of lurking is all. >.> <.<

Just giving this a quick note: Yes we are still active. We have a small core of players and characters who are online most nights. Currently we have completed two story plots alongside our allies, the Night Blades. The most recent one involved sending a voidsent back to where she belongs in a large 12 person battle. We are beginning a large plot downtime until we start up the next in a few weeks. So lots of small gatherings and relaxing type RP will be occurring. Several of our members, including our charismatic leader, are visible competing or overseeing at the Grindstone every Saturday and sometimes on Wednesday. We also have several members fighting in the Binding Coil of Bahamet via our alliance with the Night Blades. Twintania is being progressed through. And every Wednesday we gather as a group to smash whatever content we feel the need to do. This includes HM Primal's, Moogle Mog and sometimes hitting up Crystal Tower as a group. EX Primal's (Garuda) and Ultima have also been done, usually in conjunction with members from the Night Blades. In plans are IC dungeon runs among our membership (something we do periodically anyway) and a pen and paper style(using 4th ed rules) game because it's fun to do stuff outside the boundaries of what the game gives us. The previously mentioned voidsent smashing was done via Roll20 as a pen and paper style game and was a huge success with the members who attended. We hold IC meetings every week in the Bismark. You can find us there Monday nights at 9EST. Once a month we meet at the Sanctum, same time as the Bismark meetings. These occur on the last Monday of the month. Sometimes the Night Blades show up as well. If you're interested feel free to contact one of our members. They can point you in the right direction, or come by our Monday meetings. They are in full view of everyone at the Bismark.
