  1. I'll do that. I wanted to finish it before going to bed so that most people in other timezones would be there to read it but I guess I'll have to rest before. I'll just try again tomorrow. Sleeping sounds like the best idea ever right now.
  2. Dammit, all of the work, I don't even feel like doing it over again .___.. I was pretty far in it and nearly concluded the first journal entry...
  3. I had been writing for about a day now a journal like thread in the Town Square section when my computer suddenly shut down. I noticed the battery wasn't actually plugged in. I lost all my work, is there a way to get it back, dear RPers? ;_;.
  4. If your character has particularly powerful traits then you can balance it out with terrible drawbacks. You don't necessarily need to be normal or just slightly above average to avoid transforming into a Mary Sue. My char here as an exemple has an incredible amount of aether running in her body compared to other thaumaturges, making her spells devastating and giving her a greater mana pool than some of the better thaumaturges. Sounds OP right? Yeah well have a look at the drawbacks. Her power is too much for her body to handle, weakening it so much that she has a lot of troubles doing everyday activities, an exemple would be carrying supplies with her, or walking long distances or going up slopes. Even holding a pen or a fork for too long is tiring. Everyday she has to use up a lot of her mana to avoid horrible headaches and muscle pain. Obviously she's forced to find partners for every mission she takes on to make sure she doesn't get killed and manage to complete her mission without losing whatever the objective was (items the client needs back and the like). Thus she's powerful but still extremely dependant of the help of others.
  5. Awesome, exactly why I needed to be effective even if I started figuring out slowly a bunch of the stuff in here by myself by playing. I have a problem though, I already put stats with a ratio of 3:1 int:pie, is there a way to reset bonus points and pour everything into int or is it fine like that?
  6. 9PM, I'll be able to make it in, hopefully. Of course that is if the servers aren't buggy and all lol.
  7. THE ILLUMINATI ARE ATTACKING THE FFXIV SERVERS!
  8. I think I was mistaken, the chat about it happened in central shroud (near bentbrench meadow). I knew about the giant Ochu boss that gave 10k, pretty handy. There's also the FATE "Fight on the big bridge" located north-east of Camp Drybone in Thanalan, it's divided in 3 acts that happen next to each other and gives around 20k exp once you've done every act. Appears often too.
  9. I agree with most posts here about the thing with "a nameless hero" having saved the day, but then again that nameless hero is pretty popular, meaning that your character while walking down the streets of Ul'dah might just hear a merchant talk about how " " saved him and his goodies. That'd make things awkward, or I might just be overthinking it. On the subject of Echo, primals and wars: -How in the bloody hell did the Immortal Flame manage to take down Ifrit multiple times (with many sacrifices yes) without having their whole army tempered as soon as they were in front of the beast? I mean, Ifrit could just transform them all into mindless slave. What did they do to avoid being tempered? -What about characters without Echo, how would they be supposed to fight a Primal, if an RP event like that ever happened? My (somewhat corrupted) character doesn't have the echo, if she ever met a primal then it's game over. Unless there's a god that can temper you without taking your brain, or I'll have to come up with a ridiculous backstory such as "Oh yeah she already died once and dead people can't be tempered!", I don't really want that lol.
  10. I'm not sure how much of this info I should trust but during my random grinding to get my archer to 15, I read something in the shout chatbox about a FATE boss that would constantly give 30k exp and spawn every 20-30 minutes. I think I was in The Black Shroud - East Shroud when the guy started talking about it. His name was Noah Arks I think. I asked where it happened and the name of that fate but I didn't get an answer. Anybody know which fate it is (if it exists)? Would help me to get my THM to 36 a helluva faster so I can finally get AoE sleep.
  11. If I remember correctly the wiki says that the primals are in the aether that's well everywhere until they start hearing prayers, those prayers gather a large amount of aether at one point which create a primal. If I'm correct.
  12. You know what's worse than having the 1017 error over and over again? The screen loading and getting a 2002 error when you think you'll finally log in =___=. Exactly what's happening to me right now how frustraaatiiiiing.
  13. I see, thanks! In how many hours does this event start (and which adventurers guild is it)? I'll have to admit that I'm not very good with timezones ahahah.
  14. This is really good, thanks for the link!
  15. My goal in this game is to make a pure DPS BLM, having the most damages output without caring about any other stats (aside from a little pie to add a bit of mana so that AF moments last longer). My stat ratio is 3:1 int:pie. I've decided to take a look at some cross class skills, as I just recently learned about those (they're pretty damn awesome!) and decided I'd take a look here: http://www.ffxivguild.com/category/classes/ The info there are a bit outdated so I don't know how viable they are, but still a few interesting elements caught my eye: Archer: Raging Strike - Increases attack power by 20%. Quelling Strikes - Reduce enmity generated by each attacks Lancer: Blood for Blood - Increases damage dealt by 20% and damage received by 25% Pugilist: Internal release: Increase crit rate by 20% There's missing info on arcanist. 1)Do all these bonus stack together? Does it stack with Astral Fire? 2)Does raging strike affect magic potency? What about blood for blood? Thanks for the answers!
  16. Update: Each speech from the three Grand Companies: Enlisting into the Immortal Flames' GC: Giant Ochu Boss Fight: Halatali Instance Boss Fight:
  17. Took me some time to complete it! Mention it if I forgot to answer one or two questions. Myrrhine's 100
  18. Ooh I didn't see this, sounds awesome! I'll definitely try to come. I'll also be able to record the event if I do manage to get there. Btw, what's the story about not using your main character i saw on the first few posts?
  19. Lovely art there, I like it a lot .
  20. Been wondering if it's possible, I've been experimenting in the character creation and kinda perfected my character. But I don't want to delete my original character and have to level up back to where I currently am (lv 22). Sooo, is it possible?
  21. Decided I might record footage of certain quests/boss fights once in a while: I usually post videos of fighting games but FFXIV is definitely an exception .
  22. The FFIX cast, all of them. Vivi and Freyja come first though Maybe a few chars from FFX such as Lulu and Auron. I'd also like it if main villains from the FF series (Chaos, EX-Death, Golbez, Cloud of Darkness, Ultimecia...) would appear as boss battles, that would be awesome!
  23. I'm not sure how long they live, but I'm pretty sure that they always look young until they get very old. As for where they lived I'm pretty sure their IG bio covers that for both races.
  24. (Why it's in italic I have no bloody idea, it doesn't want to switch back to normal text either) @S'Janna Well what I meant is that unlike having two different classes, Black Mage is basically a straight upgrade of thaumaturge, so you can't just end up being BLM without starting as a thaumaturge, unlike something like Archer and Bard, those two can be very different rp wise even if it's technically an upgrade of Archer. @LeCard That's actually a pretty good idea, though she wouldn't be able to use technique even at their weakset application. But I can see that somewhat working. @Mr.Bear But what are the requirements to become a black mage when you're a thaumaturge in the RP world? How do you become one? @Maeve @Asyria Wait what, last time I read the wiki it was Pugilist that was needed? Well drawing a bow still requires a lot of arm strength, arcanist though is doable. @Kaoru @Magellan I thought about it but Bard can be handled very differently from Archer, while THM and BLM and pretty much the same. Still I do agree somewhat. Well thanks for the answers.
  25. (I apologize in advance if this has already been asked) I've wondered if the fact that you need to have two classes to get to a certain level (for the sake of rp let's say a certain level of mastery) to get that advanced job was considered cannon or not. My character is a thaumaturge, and technically she would become later on a black mage. But in game you need to get the pugilist class as well to become a BM. The thing is that my character is supposed to be extremely weak physically, and thus wouldn't be able to fight as a physical fighter. This would mean that she would be forced to stay a thaumaturge forever (and to be perfectly honest this could work in my favor, as it would just frustrate an already frustrated character more ). Or have you RPers decided how characters manage to get a job without having to master two classes? Maybe you guys already made up trials and the like? Thanks for the answers!
