  1. Howdy and welcome aboard. Judging by your characters name: He is Keeper of the Moon: Ninth son of Raih Molkoh. I am glad I am not the only Keeper in a large family. I hope you are able to transfer over to Balmung soon, sounds like some interesting times ahead on there in the case that you can. I am another who enjoys more in-depth style roleplays and plots. If you do manage to get into Balmung: try to hit up someone from Intermission to join the OOC communications Linkshell.
  2. Howdy and welcome aboard. The servers right now have been manually halted from allowing new characters to 'help' with the congestion as the amount of players was underestimated by SE, therefore, they are working this weekend on expanding the servers to accommodate everyone. Though, if you get online at less active times, you can always try. My friend was told several times no new characters could be made, then tried at 4am, and was able to bring his character into Balmung. Many have stated they believe when server transfers are up and the server issues are fixed, SE will allow free transfers for a bit to spread out the population. You could always roll those dice and make a character on another server then try to transfer later (2-3 week from what has been said) if the above doesn't work at all anymore. The servers right now have been in and out or what is more popular is the 1017 error where the worlds are full. Ideally, this will be fixed by or on Monday/Tuesday from what SE has stated. In the mean time: I'd encourage you to design your character even if you can't put him in-game and if you already have a concept for him/her to check out making a character profile (via the wiki). Just a suggestion in case you get bored. Btw, nice Noctis picture. I can't wait for FFXV. Bought a PS4 just for it.
  3. On the plus side: I think everyone should have a Conj up to 12 at least to offer self-heals for when questing/soloing. Makes things easier and also having Raise in dungeons is very helpful in case things go south. So not a complete waste of time if you look at it like that. I now I have to level 4 up instead of the original 3 I thought. Wanted to go White Mage first and then Bard. So, that will be..interesting. Also, didn't SE mention that those are not all the jobs? That there would be more through discovery? Perhaps I am imagining things again if not with everything I've been reading lately...
  4. Only issue with this is : who's late night? Late night EU is prime time NA, late night NA is morning EU. And there are many of us who have to log in during those late times to get to play due to the congestion of the servers. While it would boot AFKers, it would cause issues for those running late night dungeons. As already mentioned: There are ways around AFK timers as well While we can do our best to make sure we are not the ones contributing to this: the core of it is upon SE to fix their servers. Until then, we can merely minorly bandaid the issue as we are a small fraction of the entire population of the servers. I don't believe debating who is right or wrong to go about certain methods about getting game time in is going to get us anywhere but to bitterness among the community. A roleplay community is already a smaller portion of a game anyway, so we should do our best to not grow sour with one another. While we may not agree with each other's actions: We have to agree to disagree. I state this because, while I am a fan of debate, it seems much of the conversation that is going around it taking a turn past debate and into negatives. SE is supposed to be fixing this issue this weekend, let us all hope that they do so we can put this issue behind us and all enjoy the roleplay potential that this great realm has to offer. I know I am looking forward to all the possibilities. I hope that those who are unable to make characters will be able to: also, keep trying. My friend got that message a few times then late at night (4am EST) he was able to make a new character onto Balmung.
  5. Is it weird I like the fact that the GM visits you and talks to you about it in game? I've only had this occur in one other game when a GM dropped in my dungeon run and asked me if I "had a moment to talk" (Since an item I was supposed to have went MIA, they were investigating the bug) granted, in a dungeon: not the best place. But I liked being able to talk "face-to-face" rather than emails. The poor GM in that one though, trying to be so professional. I wonder if he was annoyed or laughing irl.
  6. I wonder if any of the changes were meant to put the characters from different starting cities instead of having to continue around the same as before. Like Bard being ARC + CONJ would have meant you're stuck in Girdania twice, whereas now you are Girdania and Limsa (ARC). Maybe it doesn't make IC sense or logic behind the classes, but game wise opens you up to more experiences around the realm?
  7. Howdy and welcome aboard. Make sure to hit up the OOC Linkshells on the server in which you do decide to join to get in contact with other roleplayers in-game. Balmung one is called Intermission. We are currently at Intermission2, due to size, however, might be Intermission3 by the time server transfers are available. We also have Europa for OOC EU members. Gilgamesh has Coalition OOC. Since I am on Balmung, I can't quite say what their size status is.
  8. Very neat. I enjoy the color choices and style.
  9. For those who are trying to get into Intermission 2, a list was posted on another thread of people to get a hold of to join: Though, as mentioned above, it is about at its limit. A third one might have to be created with envoys who are willing to be in two, if not all three, to relay messages across the Intermission LS's if need be. I am newly a part of the second intermission, however, I am online very often. If desired, I can be one to relay messages across them (second and third versions) and offer my aid.
  10. I think it truly should be something that is accessed per situation and since the way it is played out by one person may not be the way another plays it out. Let's take the Echo: This is a primary factor in your storyline starting early on in which every player experiences in their questline. If a character walked up to me and OOCly demanded information on me because of the echo's ability to resonate with others and view a past experience: I wouldn't give in. I am not required to play along with someone else who feels it is acceptable to demand I do things. However, if someone kindly asks me if I would be willing to play along with giving some information in order to get the two characters to bond or give reason for a plot/etc: I am a very open-minded person and would be willing to go along with such so long as I am allowed to expose only what I care to share. I think most of what people do is based on how they execute it versus exactly what it is. I personally do not use the game-story 99% of the time for my character unless there is something very minor I need to use, I prefer to learn the lore from it and go my own way and develop from there. However, in contrast to the above, there are things that draw the line for me. Such as claiming relations to NPCs. If a character approaches mine and claims to be friends with the Admiral: I will have my character invite them to join him -- see what kind of excuses are made as to why someone so close to another would be so unwilling to join. I am not usually the kind to completely ignore someone who I disagree with, but I will question things and see what kind of responses I get. All in all: how should people do things? That is not for me to say as everyone will do things the way in which they want to. "To each their own" and if I do not agree, that is my right. Nobody is forcing me to roleplay with someone who I do not feel comfortable roleplaying with.
  11. This works great. I set this up to try it instead of spamming and got me in a bit later (probably by that time of spamming I'd have given up logging in) for any who don't have the time to spam to log in or want to get other things done around the house until you can actually play: I would recommend this. Just keep checking back to see when you've been logged in. Thanks for sharing, made logging in a thousand times easier.
  12. Will have to try it. At this point, trying anything is better than repeatedly clicking. Early, I was able to get in-game and was waiting for a friend and he tried for an hour and a half constantly clicking to log in and no such luck.
  13. I have to grind out a bit for that Acolyte one. It's the only so far I have seen in which doesn't look like a robe/dress on my Miqo'te. I think when it comes down to roleplay, I will have to jump over to my archer/bard to get the outfits that will fit for his personality. Though, I do have to say that so far this game has much better outfits at the lower levels than most other games seem to have.
  14. As someone who is a healer: I thank you for that. There are many times in which I have had heals interrupted by being attacked which puts everyone at risk if it continues on. I'd rather have to heal a tank and the pet tanking vs try to heal myself and the tank while fighting through interruptions.
  15. It is painful how true this is... But at least this gave me a good laugh to see, thanks for posting.
  16. I have a love hate with the no afk time out. Love that there is none so I don't have to worry about helping my roommate out or something then coming back to be logged out and then hitting 1017s constantly. Hate it for the fact it's a good portion of the reason we see the 1017s most likely. Other than SE not anticipating so many people upon the servers (otherwise I'd imagine they'd have made them bigger in the beginning). Guess that is the way things will be until they expand servers. I just hope they expand them enough so that this issue isn't repeated.
  17. I would love to be added, though, seems it's sad I cannot mail people who are not my friends, was going to mail you my interest. Nor can I add offline players. Will have to try to catch you another time to join in.
  18. Well, here we go again for maintenance. Anyone have any idea how long this one is supposed to last?
  19. I read on another thread that this was the OOC gathering on Balmung, though, from reading the comments it is full. Is there someone who is running a second version in which I could message in game to be invited? Forgive me for being rather new to this and understanding how linkshells work. I attempted to look it up and said that I had to be invited: if that information is wrong. I apologize.
  20. (( I am rather new myself here, however, never too new to welcome others I imagine: so welcome aboard. Cute way to introduce yourself and your character as well. Hope to see you around, I am..around Gridania on Balmung as well ... usually lost and going the wrong way, but around! ))
  21. Thank you. And I plan to ask questions when they arise, I am sure some will as I normally am rather curious and sometimes over-think lore and go on a long thought train that leads to strange theories and delirious wonders. Updated the original post since the servers are down so now I have a bit more time to actually make my post better.
  22. If it makes you feel any better, there are many people who were not able to get on at 5am due to the servers locking people out cause of how many were trying to login. My friend who I was going to level with wasn't able to get on at all and had to leave for the day even though he was with me the moment the servers went live.
  23. I suppose it could have been worse. Could be that we didn't get to play until Launch on the 27th while they fixed things. I figure it gives me time to do a bit more searching of how things work online or as mentioned above: perhaps take a short nap.
  24. Thanks for bringing this up and sharing. Glad to know there is an OOC connection chat for RPers.
