Question about secret identities and other players...
Con One replied to SamusKnight2K's topic in RP Discussion
Eh, most of what you hear about 4chan concerns only the /b/ board, which enjoys living up to it's reputation. As both an /a/sshole and a fa/tg/uy, I can attest that each board has it's own personality. Don't get down on anything /v/ says, they make it a point to not like anything. It's part of their schtick. -

Asus does come out with great hardware for their price point, but they tend to rush production and have generally crappy customer service. I spent a couple hundred dollars extra and went with a Sagen this go around, I like their style.

Well, don't let it Besaid that you didn't try. ... I'll get my coat.

Dandelion watches as people start to filter out of the bar. Probably about that time of night for her to get some work done. Chugging the rest of her drink, she wipes her mouth on her sleeve and stands up. "See you guys around, maybe next time we can have less arguments and more drinks." With a wave and a smile she careens out of the bar into the night ... or maybe to another pub. Who knows?

Well, I picked Mithra in FFXI because of the DEX bonus since I wanted to roll DRK. I'll stay with Miqo'te because kitty eared helmets are moe. =^.^=

"I think I read a story about an all Roegadyn crew once." Dandelion put her index finger to her chin as the gears in her head spun. "Oh yeah, so this woman was married to this rich guy, right? But she didn't like him and ended up being kidnapped by this Roegadyn pirate ship. And then .. well ... you know. " She began to make a series of vivid, and frankly quite vulgar, hand gestures to finish the story.
-
Dandelion finished her cider slowly as the the two menfolk talked about her like she wasn't there. She turned back to the bar and pushed her cup towards the bartkeep for a refill before speaking up. "First of all, I'm not drunk. Well, not yet. Still early in the night for a Keeper. Secondly," she gestures towards Isabel, "I dunno if your girlfriend would like you inviting adorable creatures like myself for joyrides. I'm pretty irresistable, ya know." She finishes off with a burp and a grin and takes a large gulp of her newly replenished drink.
-
With the scene becoming more chaotic, Dandelion was feeling more at home. The airship people were doing acrobatics and Scyra was at it again with some hyper-serious new guy with bad table manners. She turned around in her stool and leaned her back against the bar, soaking in the atmosphere. Raising her cider to the toast of adventure, she couldn't help but raise it again when Bob finished his remarks. With a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes, she toasted. "To watching your friends die."

I've always been fond of doppleganger fights. Perhaps a floor full of bones and other assorted necromantic type stuff where the party would have to fight skeletal versions of themselves. Which brings up a question. How will you be handling the fights? Rolling?

Malrend is a gentleman of taste and class.

At Vale's response Dandelion gives a dramatic mock swoon, nearly falling backwards off her stool. "Menphina still my girlish heart, we've got a charmer." She grins playfully at the couple as she straightens back up. "Anyways, I'm Dandelion. Pleasure's all mine." Watching the couple do their back and forth, she continues sipping on her cider. "So you guys travel around hunting for treasure? I always end up getting stabbed when I try that."
-
Dandelion listened quietly to the two conversations, slipping in and out of both. One was a pissing contest about thieves and the other was some sort of spat about treasure and amputations. Neither was more interesting than the cider she was finishing. Still, there was one thing out of order. Leaning back in her stool and grinning, she spoke down the bar towards Isabel. "Hey darlin', you know they serve better things than water here, right? Your boy toy has the right idea, can't go wrong with brandy."

Basically, a trope is a plot device, character archetype, sound effect, etc. that is used often enough in media that it becomes distinct and recognizable. Some are much more common than others. I suggest that you look up a movie, book, or show that you are familiar with in the search box on the site and browse it's list of tropes. Should help it make more sense.

Dandie casually deflected Bob's remarks with a roll of her eyes. While it was a little early in her day for such a heavy meal, she accepted the Hyur's offer of mutton, planning on just picking at it. The guy seemed to be a self-centered prick, but at least he wasn't stingy. As the conversation turned back towards it's original course, Dandie perked her ears up to listen. She smiled into her cider, idly wondering if she should get any work done tonight.
-
Judging by the girl's ghastly expression, Dandelion imagined her guess had been way off the mark. As the Hyur preened himself, she listened to Scyra's introduction and gave her offered hand a firm shake and a broad smile. "Nice to know you, I'm Dandelion." She began to sip at her newly poured cider as she heard Bogardyn's comment. "I'll have you know I ain't a drunk, I'm an alcohol enthusiast." She finished by sticking out her tongue at the verbal offender. With a playful smirk, she gestured with her thumb towards the Hyur. "Of course, there's the problem with using booze as an icebreaker. You end up with some riff-raff nobody else wanted to drink with." She took another sip of her cider, intending to make this one last a bit. Her tail began to swish side to side with contentment. Drinking was always more entertaining with new faces.

Being nocturnal had several benefits, chief amongst them being that all the bars were open when you woke up. Dandelion had her feet propped up on her table and her chair on two legs, nursing her hangover from the previous day's "adventure" with a couple shots of cheap whiskey (taste'll wake you up faster than coffee, it will). She eyed Scyra disinterestedly as she came in, but took a much greater interest when the other Miqo'te bought a round for the house. "Now there's someone to drink with." Deciding to pick up her free round at the bar, she walked over beside where the smaller girl was speaking with a Hyur man who seemed overly pleased with himself. Once the bartender had prepared her glass, she picked it up and swiftly clanked it against Scyra's. "Don't mean to interrupt, but it'd be rude to drink your money away without giving you the proper thanks." With that, she proceeded to chug the drink slowly, finishing it with a smile and wiping her mouth on her sleeve. "So you and your boyfriend here getting hitched or something?"

I'll be stationed in Italy for another couple of years, so it's CET for me, GMT +1. Hopefully these kooky Europeans will have me. =^.^=

*Disclaimer: OP is not responsible for any lost man hours caused by linking to TV Tropes.* What sort of character do you have? A Knight Templar? Perhaps a Rebellious Spirit? Or maybe just The Klutz? There's a trope for pretty much everything your character is, was, or ever will be. Not to mention everything they could, will, and have done. So I challenge you folks to choose just 10 tropes that best match your character. I'll go first. Dandelion: Catgirl. Miqo'te FTW The Alcoholic. One of her most obvious character traits. Glacier Waif. I think any Miqo'te or Lalafell who tanks falls under this. The Slacker. Dandie has been running away from responsiblity for about a decade. Massive Numbered Siblings. Number 11 of 14. Middle Child Syndrome. Related to the above. Never quite got out of her siblings shadows. Big Sister Worship. Despite her seemingly hostile attitude towards her siblings, she reveres the eldest 3 as examples she can never live up to. Black Sheep Cut herself away from the herd since she feels she can't handle the load. Gallows Humor. Usually because she's been on the sauce and doesn't know what sort of danger she's really in. Don't You Dare Pity Me. Is quite content wallowing in shame and self pity, doesn't want you trying to pull her out of it. Hopefully this is a fun exercise.

Uh oh. Sounds like we've got a time traveler. I need to go call Jean Claude Van Damme, somebody keep Armi and Richter from touching in the meantime. We'll make it through this, I promise.

I'll second the UK. I don't live there but I am looking for an excuse to go back. I miss English speakers T_T

Is it really so hard to personally travel around the country and verify each individual guild member? You all sound lazy. Tsk tsk.

Let's give this a shot, shall we? You invite a friend over to your house for the afternoon. Describe what your friend would see upon entering your home. What most people notice first are my "collectibles" from my "hobby", which is a fancy way of sayin' they'd see nearly the entire one room flat covered in all kinds of bottles. Empty, of course. A lotta makeshift furniture gathered from what's tossed out from the local warehouses, too. All in all, a nice place to stagger home to. During the casual small-talk that ensues, your friend asks you if you have read any good books lately. How do you respond? Oh man, one of the bartenders downtown loaned me this great book, it's so romantic. This gal is saved from an arranged marraige by a muscular mountain of Miqo'te man meat and they do all sorts of ... well ... yeah. *sighs dreamily* Your friend eventually leaves, and you're still bored. Restless, you leave the house and set out for a walk. Describe the neighborhood you live in. Well, sure it may seem like a run down neighborhood by the docks. But look at the location! I can't throw a Lalafell without hitting a dive bar. Oh no! An orphan is in trouble! Down the street from where you stand, a small street urchin is being bullied by three larger youths. What do you do about it? Just watch the kid and see how he handles himself. If he ain't puttin up a fight on his own behalf, I don't really see the need to intervene. Lots of good lessons can be learned from a beat down. Adventure time! The next day, still restless, you decide that what you need is a good change of pace. How do you pack for your four-day road trip to Ishgard? Well aside from my gear, I suppose I'd use a change of clothing, or two, to bundle around a couple, or nine, bottles of whatever liquor I got handy. I can fill up my flask with some good stuff at a bar on the way out of town. Along your journey, you spot some bandits waiting at a bridge across a wide but slow moving river up ahead of you. They haven't seen you yet. You need to cross the bridge to get to where you're going. How do you handle the situation? Well I ain't in any real hurry to get wherever the hell it is I'm going, so I might as well wait them out. Sure was good planning to pack all this hooch, right? I tell ya, I'm a thinker. *pokes her noggin* You have just arrived for the first time in a new big city. Where do you go first? Definately to check out the pub life. Gotta see what the local brands are like. Ooooooo ... applejack .... For being the 1,000th tourist to the city, you have been given a 6,000 gil voucher to spend as you like at the Ishgard Department Store (think FFXIV version of Macy's). What do you spend it on? Department store isn't my usual scene, but money is money. Probably just waste it all on one nice outfit. Never know when you need to crash a fancy shindig. All of that shopping has made you deliriously hungry. What sort of food establishment do you seek out for lunch? Everyone knows that bars make the best food. I can't wait to get my paws on something that'll go straight to my hips. Five months later and safely back at home, you realize the Winter Festival is approaching! What sort of present do you pick out for your mother (or nearest living relative, or closest friend)? Crap, this year went by quick. Ummmm ... uhhhhhhhhh. What does she like? Oh yeah, she wanted me to get a nice portrait done and send it back home. Apparently already has one from the each of the others. *sighs* Guess I'll have to break out that new dress sooner than I'd wanted.

I hear when you get to 500 the forum gets a pinata. No pressure, just saying.
