  1. A Roe unicorn. Welcome to the RPC and Gilgamesh! Glad to have you aboard. Yes, Gilgamesh is the smaller of the two, but we're tight-knit and growing. I know, personally, it's very rewarding to work with the community and build it up. Quite the history there. You sound like a hell of a lot of fun to roleplay with. Please, do not hesitate to poke me in-game (and likewise, I will look for you)! I'm almost always running around in Limsa during the evenings. I know I'm in a small, heavy RP guild (gogo clandestine trading and adventure), so we don't have much in the way of endgame, but there are several FCs lurking around on Gilgamesh that are both roleplay and endgame. I've no doubt you'll find a home here.

    Yo

Welcome to Gilgamesh and the RPC! If your post is anything to go by, than your English and grammar is far from atrocious. I love you forum RPers. You guys make the best descriptive emotes. Glad to see you're enjoying the game! Unfortunately, I cannot help much lore-wise, as I am a baddie and still learning mine. Please feel free to poke me if you see me! I shall keep an eye out for you, as well.
  3. Welcome to the RPC! Warcraft was where I started RPing, though I was originally a heavy PvE/PvPer. I'm still trying to turn over the lore from Azeroth to Eorzea. That'll probably take a while. Sorry to hear about your free company falling apart and your friend losing interest. Never fun to be alone on the server. Regardless of whether you are looking to transfer or re-roll, I would most certainly recommend making a character on both Balmung and Gilgamesh and feeling out the communities for yourself. Balmung, by far, is larger in community size, whereas Gilgamesh is tiny and tight-knit. From what you've said, I don't think you'd have a problem fitting in to either of them, and I believe what it would come down to is which one interests you more. My suggestion would be to poke around the Linkshell Hall, perhaps attend one or two of the events on each server, and find which server has your best prime times available. I know for Gilgamesh, Limsa is our biggest hotspot, and our prime times are generally in the evenings (I'm EST, over here). We also have two events coming up, both of which are on the calender. If you poke around my neck of the woods, be sure to say hi!
  4. It varies for the tavern events, as people come and go throughout the three-hour period, but generally there is a rather large turn-out. Enough that you can, and will, be chat-spammed to hell and back by legitimate roleplay emotes and /says. People eventually spread out through the settlement, and it goes down a little bit in chat-spam, but there's still a fair chunk of the community out there for those things.
  5. Welcome to the RPC! Balmung is, by far, the larger of the two communities. This is, of course, not to say Gilgamesh is dead (I'm on there, I know!). What I would recommend is making an alt on each server and seeing what hotspots, prime times, and free companies (guilds) best suit you. I'd also surf through the linkshell hall to take a look at the free companies who are on this site, though there are many in-game that are not on here that I would also recommend looking at. As for the game mechanics itself, I use the keyboard and find it rather similar to any tab-target game. Certain classes have quirks that you'll need to get used to, but it's rather simple once you get the hang of it. I would check the forums for lore. Some members of the community have done amazing work organizing the lore... and I still need to read most of it, because I am terribly noobish at the lore in this game. Eheheh. Anyways, welcome again!
  6. I won't lie and see we -don't- have cliques or a large amount of shy RPers, but generally people are very open and welcoming, yes. I would most definitely say you would not have a problem at events! I was like that for my first event, sat at a table by myself and didn't really talk, and I was dragged (literally) to meet other people. A lot of folks are very, very nice.
  7. Rawr, welcome to the RPC and Gilgamesh! We're hiding the Miqo'nip, that's why you can't find us. Shoo. But no, really, welcome. :3 Always good to have a new person show up. Our hotspots are generally in Limsa, though it can be pretty quiet for you GMT folk. If you have a flexible sleep schedule, I'd recommend showing up... rather late for you, and you'll likely see a bunch of more RPers. Don't get me wrong, there are GMT folk who roleplay, they're just... very quiet, and like to lurk in odd places. That being said, if you do have a flexible schedule, I recommend checking out the upcoming events on our server. The EchoK tavern night is a wonderful place to showcase the community, and Shade has collaborated with them to start up a second monthly one. I shall keep an eye out for you in-game, as I've a very odd schedule. Feel free to find me as well.
  8. Welcome to FF and the RPC! Balmung is the legacy server and, by far, larger than Gilgamesh (we're tiny and close knit). I personally recommend making an alt on each server and giving each community a try. Poke around some of the RP OOC channels, check out the free companies, see what prime times fit your needs best. We got a guy from Finland in our little FC over here on Gilgamesh. Poor guy, stays up so late to RP with us State-side folks. I just keep making friends with people in GMT. >.> Anyways, welcome again, and feel free to poke me should you wander over to Gilgamesh!
  9. Gilgamesh still has a fairly strong community, we're just a bit smaller. We still have our fair share of FCs. If you're ever in our neck of the woods on an alt, feel free to swing by Limsa! That's where the hotspots are. Our next big server event, as far as I know, will be a tavern night at Bronze Lake in January. Best place to see our community.
  10. Totally posting again to tell you guys how great this event is. :3 I have had so much fun at these both times and think it's a great meet-up for the community. I think this is one of the best ways to showcase our community and avidly point new arrivals to the server here. There were a ton of people there when I showed up, and I got to make new friends and reconnect with other friends. Already looking forward to the next one!

    Howdy

Pfft, Gilgamesh doesn't smell like cheese. In all seriousness, though, Gilgamesh is a bit smaller of a community than Balmung. I would recommend creating a toon on both servers and just derp around a bit, check out the hubs and see the people. I know, on our end, Gilgamesh is doing some events this weekend. The Tavern Night hosted by Echo Knights is an excellent opportunity to see what our community is like, if you are so inclined to do so. Regardless, welcome to the RPC!
  12. This has me curious, has it been announced whether we will be able to switch instances of neighborhoods? Not knocking the neighborhood idea at all, but curious for those of us who won't have FC houses right after the patch launches. That way we could visit other instances and other FC houses, etcetera.

    Hi.

Hey, welcome to the RPC and Gilgamesh. Also an ex-WoW player! Played on Moon Guard for a while, but it wasn't really my style. Switched to Earthen Ring, myself. Gilgamesh's hotspots tend to be in Limsa, at the Wench and Bismarck, although it also shows up in the Adventurer Guilds of the other cities. There's also one of the big events coming up at the end of the month (see: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/calendar.php?action=event&eid=57) that is a great way to meet a bunch of the community. Looking forward to seeing you in-game!
  14. I couldn't quote the source at the moment, but from what I've heard, you can set it to either private (FC members only) or public.
  15. I just wanted to say that the turnout for tonight seemed great, and I'm glad you guys got such excellent support. For my first time RPing in game, I made a few new friends and had a heck of a lot of fun. Looking forward to you guys' next tavern night!
  16. Thanks, Kheni'to and Olofantur! I actually am already in the Coalition OOC linkshell, it's just never very talkative. I might not be on during prime times, though. My friends and I haven't gotten through much content yet, with real life and my constant wandering off to do crafting and gathering. It's just too addicting. The most recent game I jumped over from I think would be... either Neverwinter or TOR. I've been dabbling in free to play games because I just recently had a baby, so I didn't want to spend money on anything until my schedule went back to normal. In total, I've played Warcraft since Vanilla, SW:TOR and Neverwinter since beta, a little bit of Rift when it went free to play, and TERA during both pay to play and free to play. Warcraft has my most playtime, though.
  17. Been lurking for a while - only just created an account a few days ago - and it's probably time for me to introduce myself. So, hello everyone! Although I have dreadful altoholic tendencies, I currently only have one toon, and she is on Gilgamesh (Balmung was closed when I signed up, and a few of my real life friends are on Gilgamesh because of this, so I'm here to stay!). A little about me, I've gamed for about a decade now, but I've only started RPing in the last three years or so. I'm an ex-elitest PvP/PvE-er... so forgive me if I get on my high horse every now and then. I don't mean to do it, I swear! I'm in character 90% of the time I'm online, even if I'm not actively RPing. I'd love to meet y'all in-game!
