The full list is back up once again. As an aside, I know I was the one who put forth the idea of a revote, but I don't in any way mean that as a condemnation of the current process. I just want to make sure that we wind up with the best possible home we can. I am also a lifelong proponent of the idea that home is where you are, not where you wish you could be, so take from that what you will.

Mysidia and Lindblum are still missing. Figaro is back.

Another server just vanished - I think it was either Mysidia or Trabia - so I'm going to continue going with "technical issues" and keep waiting to make a character. Which is super satisfying.

If it's at full capacity, I will be 1) Surprised. 2) Angry. 3) Dumbfounded. 4) Prompted to create an enormous variety of new curse words.

It wasn't corny! Corny could be taken as vaguely approaching quality. Seriously, VIII shows up dead last on my list of games in the series, which means it ranks worse than Tactics Advance, the NES version of 3, and Mystic Quest. No one would ever choose it intentionally. That was my whole thought process.

The filter often catches parts of words. I'm sorry to say, but the problem with your name might start one letter in and end two letters before the end.

Agreed. Castiel has put a huge amount of work into this site and this coalition, and he's helped mobilize a strong and large community out of the many fractured elements from FFXI. I'm proud to be a part of it, and happy to see such activity and focus put into the coming game. A toast indeed!

I'm keeping a close eye on this, as I'd like to be able to announce the unofficial RP server in my column this week. The earlier it gets around, the more people will plan around the basis of the RP server, either to seek it out or avoid it.

It took me the better part of an hour and a half, so you're not alone. I have my key and have not yet bothered registering on the account page, I keep expecting to go to bed any minute now. Of course, then there are new posts to read.

Doesn't look nearly as bad as in FFXI, though. With ~5 points per level, your ending distribution for an "off" race will wind up just being a couple of points, fairly insignificant in the long term.

We don't. It's more of a precautionary response than anything - if we don't wind up ever being on the same server as they are, we'll never find out one way or the other. Of course, this is presuming that there are a surfeit of things that they could lock us out of in the first place, something that may very well have already gone the way of the dodo. In hindsight, it almost might have been a better idea to have the poll running three days after the open beta started... at which point most other polls would have closed, and we could vote on who if anyone we wanted to avoid. Oh, sure, it kills all of the initial excitement, but it's worth it for the ability to hand-pick our neighbors. As it stands, though, we ultimately will end up where we end up. It's still miles better than hoping and praying you wound up where you wanted in FFXI. And it's also miles better than when we were a year and a half late to the party - I'm sure some of the apprehension over server choice is from bitter memories about Japanese players not too keen on the new batch of American newbs.

I will admit to being heartbroken that the FFX server is Besaid rather than Zanarkand. Also sad that we only have ten servers - a Jeuno server would have been ever so wonderfully meta.

I don't have a lot of active accounts around the interwebs, but I do have an idea for how I might get the word out a little more once we "officially" launch. But I'm keeping mum about it for the moment. It'll be pretty obvious if it works out at all.
