  1. Thanks for this topic! I love being able to delve into Miji and really consider her thinking on different matters. To start off with, Mijisaa is in her forties and has been married over a decade to her childhood sweetheart Pipituu so she thinks about sex much differently than a younger or single character would. (Her husband is played by my IRL partner as well and neither of us ERP with our chars.) Considering this, Mijisaa would probably be considered quite old-fashioned in the sexual sense: she’s heterosexual and has had only one partner her whole life. Her first attraction to him was as a friend, as someone she could trust, before anything like a relationship came along. Mijisaa would NEVER discuss the sexual side of her marriage with others, it’s very private and she would consider it rude for someone to ask. Considering dominance, Mijisaa is used to being in charge. She runs a business and an underground organization and she doesn’t tolerate people who don’t give her the respect she think she deserves. However, Pipituu is in all ways in equal in the marriage. They both approach their relationship as a partnership with each side giving equal amounts of effort. In public decisions Mijisaa takes the reins of course but in private they value being equals. If anything, Mijisaa’s mind just doesn’t consider sex that often. She’s entirely too focused on other things for that to be on her mind. If a person is capable and can do the job she needs them for, she could care less about their sexual preferences and/or leanings. Seeing public displays, flirting, or whatever would not both her. She’d just chalk it up to people not being as busy or focused as she is. If someone flirted with her, she’d probably shrug it off. She was once young and heiress to a very large family fortune/business so she had plenty of suitors come and go. Prostitution is interesting with her. She acknowledges that it is a necessary part of city life, that it’s always been there. Mijisaa already is involved with plenty of shady things (i.e. gambling rings, blackmail schemes, smuggling, market manipulation, saloons, illegal liquor/drug trade) but prostitution is something she stops at, the one thing she won’t be involved in. As far as she’s concerned, if someone wants to buy drugs and ruin themselves, she doesn’t care. However, prostitution can have an innocent party. Mijisaa has been known to buy prostitutes and bring them into her home to free them and give them jobs as servants or in her business. She’s quite involved with refugees and orphans in Ul’dah (after all, her husband was one once) so prostitution can easily be tied to those groups.
  2. I agree with these two statements in regards to the 'lawful neutral' argument. Mijisaa, being a successful Ul'dahn business woman who dabbles somewhere between lawful neutral to lawful evil, supports both the Syndicate and the Sultana. She sees them as two parts of the same system that makes Ul'dah (and herself) prosperous. Having one of the parts too autocratic would ruin the city and having breakdown of laws is also never good for business. Mijisaa supports the Sultana because she's a good figurehead, someone for the common people to rally around, and she supports the Syndicate because they make sure things keep working. Sure, the lines are blurred but so are the lines in Mijisaa's life so it makes no difference to her.
  3. ^ This note But on topic, shut that down gurl. Really, I would totally just go OOC about it if it's so bothersome, then Blist the person, and then pretend it didn't happen or magically resolved itself ICly. I wouldn't confront the person ICly, it doesn't sound like it will work with this person if they're so gungho. Just my two Lala cents!
  4. I've always thought of 1 gil = 1 USD. If there was a ratio, I'd have to do math...and that's not gonna happen.
  5. Mijisaa loves foods with bold, rich flavors. Anything with spice or sourness (that would make others cringe) is up her alley. She's not big on sweets and she NEVER overindulgences in food. She also doesn't drink alcohol, she's very disciplined in her habits. Mijisaa is from a wealthy family (and is wealthy herself) so she can't actually cook any of her own food though. Her husband Pipituu is the opposite though in all this. Overindulgence is his game!
  6. Poor Kage, he has such hard luck sometimes. *scowls at mean Denn* Concerning this thread though, if playing FFXIV has taught me anything, it's that the person's gender on the other side of the char is unimportant. I honestly think I know more people who play the opposite gender than not. Most people assume (correctly) that Mijisaa is played by a female but there have been those who didn't (most notably my FC leader ) and I totally didn't care.
  7. This won’t play out ICly because it happened 10 years ago but I’m working on a story where two Lalafells get married. I just wanted to pick everyone’s brain about it. Do we know anything lore-wise about weddings? Have you attended a wedding ICly? Do they consult a priest with their god of choice? Does the ceremony resemble RL weddings? Just throwing it out to the community to see what y’all think!
  8. Interesting read! Mijisaa falls into choleric category mostly in that she is dominant and stubborn, but also loyal and fiercely protective. She will do just about anything to stay on top and she's very confident in her ability to win. But I can see some sanguine in her as well. When first met, she is quite bubbly and loves meeting new people but the comparison stops there because she is not in the least bit flighty and she doesn't express her true emotions readily. So I guess at first meeting her, people would think she's sanguine but the longer they're around, the more her choleric side (the true nature) shows.
  9. Oooo, what a wonderful thread. Really great questions and responses. I too roll a char who is a scholar icly so all this information is really great to make her connection much more believable. Thanks all!
  10. Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! If you're ever in Ul'dah, she'll probably be around.
  11. I. Basic Info Characters: Mijisaa Qisaa OOC Linkshells: Friend-Game, Intermission RP Linkshells/FCs: none at the moment II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): For me, it’s probably light to medium as Mijisaa is my first RP character and I’ve been learning the ropes the past few months. For that reason, I am never running around ICly though I can be in a quick costume change. I also rarely RP outside of Thanalan as Mijisaa’s business and home are in Ul’dah. Views on RP combat and injuries: Mijisaa is a businesswoman and head of a crime family. Though she acknowledges her arcanist training, she rarely uses it in front of others (so only if threatened). If she were hurt for some reason, she would of course be injured the right amount of time. She is a healer with a decent amount of alchemy knowledge and herbal studies so she has been known to recommend or perform heals when needed. Views on IC Romance: I think it is a lovely dynamic but Mijisaa is a married woman so that’s not really an option. Views on non-romantic RP ties: While Mijisaa’s biological family is rather small, she has a much larger crime “family” who she treats as her own and protects against others. I am always open to adding more to the crime group in her life. Views on lore: I try quite hard to adhere to the lore of the game, particularly that of Dunesfolk and Ul’dah. There is still so much to learn though! I am always trying to remember Eorzean terms for things so I do slip up sometimes. Views on chat functions: I really don’t have a preference. I have never RP’d over an ICly linkshell to be honest. I prefer in-game RP though because I am on a PS3. III. Other Info Country: USA, California Timezone: Pacific Contact info: Send a /tell in game (to Mijisaa Qisaa) or a message over RPC *If you want to read more about Miji, please see the wiki link below*
  12. This is an interesting question, one I hadn't really considered. Mijisaa was raised primarily by her father but, as the eldest without a mother, she took on the role as mistress of the house and mother-figure. As the heir though of a rather rough family, she couldn't be protected in ways a father would look out for a daughter and therefore grew up quite fast. Being the first woman to lead her family, she is very aware that people are watching for feminine weaknesses particularly. She doesn't see one gender as superior to the other and that reflects in the very equal marriage she has with Pipituu. I actually think she would have a dislike more of particularly submissive women or aggressive men, traits she rather despises.
  13. I heard of this event from Surilian Blu and jumped at the chance! Mijisaa is a wealthy Ul'dahn native so it's right up her alley. She will drag her counterpart, Pipituu, along as well (assuming I can drag his OOCly self there). Now I'm motivated to work on one of those dresses. What a great event you all have put together!
  14. Well now that I'm finally back from the adventures of dealing with my state's DMV and getting my car fixed, I'll send y'all a pm and chat. Thanks so much for the responses!
