  1. So basically she should be batman?
  2. You have but you haven't, but you did tonight. This character was originally created and operated by a five year old family member with her daddy's (Erik's) help. She didn't want to play anymore and the character looked fun and the story was crazy fun sounding (from the mind of a child right?) so I asked her if I could be Lenna and she said yes. She handed it over to me Monday. Wow that was a very... literate child haha.
  3. Oh hey I believe we've met IC, I was wondering what your characters deal was, now I know. Feel free to contact me for other rp stuff!

    Paladins!

That is actually a really interesting angle, that I had not really considered before. The sultansworn do have a very similar position to the Praetorian guard in Rome. The Praetorians started out by guarding emperors, but since no emperor could survive long without their protection, they eventually started picking them. Since the the upper floors of Ul'dah are essentially flooded with sultansworn, it's very likely they have some sort of active political role in Ul'dah. The sultan wouldn't have to even actively do anything, simply by withdrawing their protection it would signal that an individual was incredibly vulnerable to Ul'dah's countless knives.

    Hiya

Hi Kage! Like others have said just relax and have fun. You'll be surprised by the number of connections you will make just hanging around public places and talking. RPing seems to breed more RPing, and the more you put yourself out there, the more friends you'll make (Both IC and OOC). Of course you might make some enemies along the way... (Not OOC though ) If you want to get into more structured RP, there are quite a few linkshells you can join, and I usually always have at least one thing I could rope you in to. Also for me as well, feel free to walk up and get involved any time you see me around!
  6. _f4eGQ9MIWM For Natalie it has to be this. I just love the combination of despair and hope that the song goes through.
  7. In real life as well, people will often wear stuff they don't understand the significance of. For example asian shirts with engrish on them, or Americans with tattoos of random chinese characters. You could always just say that you saw someone in Gridania with a similar robe, and you liked it so much you had one made. It could even be a hook for your character eventually becoming a WHM, since anyone who knows that it is a WHM robe could possible explain the lore to you.
  8. Ok I have a real question. How do dragons work. The main quest seems to imply they are intelligent and organized enough to corrupt people in Coerthas, and pose a valid threat. However when you encounter them, they all seem like mindless beasts like every other monster. How smart are dragons? Can they speak in common tongue languages? How do they corrupt people in coerthas?
  9. There's a special level of hell for those who make such horrible, horrible puns. Sorry I just can't help it sometimes, I read words and make a neural link. (Last one I promise)
  10. You might even call it a death sentence. I'm going to have to revoke your pun license for that. I guess that joke really dive bombed.
  11. You might even call it a death sentence.
  12. During stage 3 of twintania a bunch of snakes spawn while you are dodging her sonic boom. Asclepius is the big one (there are small ones too).

    Paladins!

You could argue that, but it seems clear that free paladins are not held to the standard of Sultansworn. It's like the difference between someone who took a first aid class, and a paramedic. I see free paladin as an aspect of a character, but it doesn't have to define them. Sultansworn imo, should define a character, (my character sometimes refers to herself a "dog of the sultanate") and really limits how they can act. Also the whole point of free paladins is to have lots of trained people that Ul'dah can call in in an emergency, sort of like military reservists. Having many of them around seems to mean the program is working.
  14. The sultanate is cozying up a special cell for you and yours C'kayah. On a related note, if you are interested in being a foil for this group, and others, let me know. I really like the roleplay style of C'kayah and friends, however you can't have good villians without heroes (of a sort...) on their backs. Feel free to PM me if you are interested, and you don't need to be officially any sort of law enforcement IC. N
  15. Or wait until you get to 50, because when you have all i90 accessories you can wear whatever you want .
  16. As many others have said, it's mostly just putting yourself out there. I started RPing roughly over a month ago, because one day instead of just running past all the people /saying in the Quicksand, I stopped to talk to them instead. I had lots of missteps and bad decisions the first few weeks, and probably alienated some people, but overall I made lots of new friends, and became involved with lot's of stories. So yeah just put yourself out there, it is of course possible that you might screw up at first (like I did) but eventually you'll find you niche and discover how you want to play your character.

    Paladins!

Again I agree that in a personal sense Sultansworn and Free Paladins are likely equally moral. However sultansworn can be given orders to do morally grey things, and they have little choice in the matter. I would think that in general, such tasks would be relegated to the Brass Blades or the Flames, but it is quite plausible that sultansworn could do the dirty business of the Sulatana. I feel like this makes for a rather interesting dynamic, as on the surface they are supposed to be paragons of justice, but at the same time they could be the ones stabbing you to death in an alley if the Sultana orders it. Thankfully the current sultana seems to be rather compassionate, but as others have said, Sultansworn have probably been more like KGB type secret police at various times in the past.

    Paladins!

This also means they can be less moral, though. The 'dishonored' paladin we see in the storyline is only someone whose moral code kept him away from corruption. But free paladins do not have any kind of regulative entity keeping them in check (or corrupting them). They can go both ways. I agree to a certain extent, but the storyline implies that Paladins often become free paladins because they feel that the politics and moral grayness of the sultansworn is tarnishing their oath. While yes, I think free paladins can turn 'evil', I feel like that it isn't a particularly common occurrence, since without a belief in doing good and helping others they probably wouldn't be a free paladin to begin with.

    Paladins!

On paladin chat, I play a Paladin who I RP as an actual member of the sultansworn(not a free paladin), and like many have said, to me that doesn't mean lawful good in the traditional D&D sense. My character first and foremost put's the safety of the Sultanate, Ul'dah and it's citizens above basically all else. So things like murder, blackmail or torture, are not completely out of the question, if they are needed to support the sultanate. My character has never done any of these things, but they are not off the table for me RPwise. It also leads to my character not really caring overly much about bad events happening outside the jurisdiction of the city. It is my opinion that free-paladins would actually be more moral than an actual serving sultansworn, as they can follow their code without making compromises. The Paladin questline backs up this view, as the serving sultansworn were quite capable of committing bad acts in order to further they felt was the interests of the city, and the free paladin was shown to be above such things. So yeah overall I view the sultansworn as closer to the FBI or CIA, they are a relatively incorruptible force of order in the city, but do not represent some cosmic force of good.
  20. Sounds interesting, my character is a Sultansworn who deals with threats not suited for the brass blades/flames (because they get bribed so much). If you need an antagonist, I'm always up to put the heat on some criminals. If you are interested I can /tell you next time I'm on.
