I appreciate the wards from an IC point of view. A busy marketplace was a cool idea, pity it wasn't done well. As practical as a search function is, it does seem like the beginning of the end for the wards as being anything other than warehouses of gear. That said, I understand that all they are right now really is warehouses as the whole system was poorly implemented, and I'm happy that something is being done to make life for the players easier.

Seconded. Either that or.. CatDog!? >;D Lalafell theme, just as cute but still sticks to the game.
-
lol no kidding. Even after you told me where you were, I had to watch that part about 10 times to see you. Until you told me, I thought that flash was the torchlight on a wall or something.

You mean I'm not the only person in Vancouver who plays FFXIV?! I graduated from AI Vancouver about 5 years back. And the weather has been ok, little damp but not our usual winter rain, depending what part of the city you are in. Darn, I totally missed you in the background in that scene. That is by far the hardest instance of you to spot.

The one with the torch slapping someone?

City info could include information such as goverment, patron god(s), when it was founded and by who (if known), location, guilds and guild leaders, and possibly other notable individuals or landmarks if there are any worth mentioning. City info pages could also include a list of affiliated RP LS's although I wouldn't necessarily put that in an info box. So for example: Ul'dah Location: Central Thanalan Climate: Warm Desert Government: Officially, Sultanate (Monarchy) / In Practice, Aristocracy Patron: Nald'thal Guilds: Miner, Gladiator, Pugilist, Thaumaturge, Alchemy, Goldsmith, Weaver Not sure if you would add it to the info box, but according to a Lalafell in Nald's temple, Ul'dah was founded by Dunesfolk. It was commerce that brought all the other races and allowed the city to grow. It is also the nearest city to the hereditary lands of the Hellsguard Roegadyn, and the most popular city for both Keepers of the Sun Miquo'te, and Ala Mihgo refugees (notably Highland Hyur)

I never give up The tough thing for me is I'm looking at then one you identified at 0:30 and trying to match the face. When I can't see the face, I try going by general body shape and hair. That isn't so bad, but when you couple that with the fast edits, all that I get are partial glimpses of most of the people in the reel. Couple that with costuming, when things were shot, settings, and lighting, and yeah, it isn't that easy for those of us who don't know you and weren't involved in the creation. It should be easy for you to recognize yourself in a project you had a hand in Are you the guy in the white shirt who seems to be sitting by a fire at 0:18? Doesn't look like you at all (judging by the 0:30 shot), but worth a guess. I'm not sure if I said it before, but looks like you could maybe be the guy with the spear at 0:38.

I can't get a still shot with his face, but could the answer be the guy playing the drums at around 0:10-0:13?

I love the book for when looking for a LS to join, but I agree that the heart of the site is really the forums. That said, I would hate to see the book dissapear because it's really nice and could be useful in a limited secondary capacity. Instead of making the book the main page, what if you kept it as a subsection and kept it to IC listings/knowledge? It would be like an Eorzean encyclopaedia of linkshells. Perhaps the site could have a "coalition library" or somesuch with multiple "books", one for the RP Ettiquette, another for LS's, etc.

hmm... not many possibilities left. I got it narrowed down I think. Is that you getting clobbered in the woods at 0:55?
-
If that is you at 0:30, then it looks like you could also be at 0:15 holding the torch and smacking the woman, and then again as the guy getting knocked down in the woods at approx 0:32-0:33ish (that one goes by quick). I also thought at first that maybe you were the guy doing the shooting at 0:11, but on repeated watchings it looks less and less like you, unless it's angle or something messing with my head. Incidentally, my first thought when I saw the shot at 0:30 was that it looked eerily like me, only with shorter hair

Very cool Love the music and the visuals. Are you the guy in the cloak? Appears: 0:07, 0:20, then a third time at 0:47 Another option is the guy who seems to be in the process of being torn to pieces and consumed by some woman Appears: 0:26, 0:41, 1:14 If either of those two appear more than 3 times, I can't tell. It's hard identifying people when the faces are obscured and the scenes are changing every few seconds. Still seems cooler than most film student work I see though.

An Important Announcement for FINAL FANTASY XIV Fans
Ghunzyr replied to Ravirr's topic in FFXIV News
My jaw dropped when I read through this announcement. Looks like the shite hit the fan at SquareEnix. Wonder what the heck will happen to the game now. I feel a bit like our current "extended beta test" has almost become an extended alpha test. A new team might bring a whole new game by the time they "fix" everything. -
Just let Castiel know you are interested. He made a post about it here Pretty sure you have to be a "journalist" in order to access the news room where all the behind the scenes stuff happens.

Wonder if the trend will maintain given the patches and the ps3 release. Playstation is the real wildcard. If console gamers embrace ffxiv, it could recover. If too many people are scared by the bad press so far, well we may go on living in a quiet underpopulated world for quite some time yet. Then there is always the rare chance of a sleeper hit where ffxiv becomes the next hot thing in a year or so but is near dead for the six months or more prior. Although sleeper MMOs are almost unheard of if I'm not mistaken.
-
Hooray! Nice work Castiel :cheer: It looks amazing, I'm so thankful and proud that I got to be a part of this.

Thought I should let you know that I tried installing "D2010.11.25.0002.patch" the usual way but the game isn't recognizing that I have the patch so is forcing me to go through the normal update process. Thankfully, it seems to be going faster than any update I have ever seen. Whatever SE did to fix their servers, it worked. Thanks again for hosting these patches anyway Freyar. They have saved me a lot of time in the past with updates.

You mean what I suggested about "The Pub" and "Guild's Bailey"? While I see the point of separating RP'er IC shells, and RP'er OOC social shells, we should face the fact that FFXIV's population isn't exactly booming at the moment, and Mog House is likely going to be Besaids only RP'er social shell for some time yet. Does Mog House need its own sub-forum? Seems a bit silly to me. Unless/until we get a flood of new blood and new shells with the upcomming patches and PS3 release, I think we just have 2 LS forums, Guildhall and Pub. If you want to keep things tidy, maybe flad the Pub as OOC and Guildhall as IC. That way if a LS has no IC component (i.e. a purely social shell) they just hang out in the pub. Those with an IC presence could still strut around the guildhall, but they would have the Pub to discuss matters OOC'ly.

Title got your attention? Good, that was the point, but now I'm going to dissapoint you. There is no FFXIV movie and therefore no movie OST, but I was listening to music and I got to thinking, what if there was? Now I got my hands on the FFXIV soundtrack and it kicks butt, but what if a movie were made about your character, their life, their exploits? What would the soundtrack be like? There is already a general music thread, and a theme thread, but like me, many people seem to have multiple "themes". I say we expand it and see where peoples' imaginations go. If your character's life were made into a feature film (or a film/TV series if you feel extra ambitious) what would be your soundtrack? What would the title be? Anyone who feels like undertaking this (hopefully fun) challenge, I'll post a list here of the "films". Heck, if you really want, give a cast list for who would play what characters. ===Eorzea Theatre Listings===

I love it, great story! Your description of the fight seen came of fairly smooth, which is saying a lot. Most people, in my opinion, can't write action scenes well. The only issues I could see offhand were a few minor grammatical errors, and I don't really care about those as I make them all the time myself so can't truely hold them over anyone else's head.
-
Should "The Pub" and "Guild's Bailey" be merged? They seem to be serving fairly similar functions.
-
Funny, I was about to make a post here about merging courtyard and assembly room. Your other changes sound fine to me. Not sure what else you could do to clean up forums offhand

I stand corrected. Thank you.
