Hi there! After a long break from FFXIV RP I decided to come back. My god, it's lonely. I'm after making contacts / friends / enemies / frenemies with a new character, Aden Fey. About Aden: Aden is a hyuran midlander, Ishgardian born and raised at the Foundation level. After losing his parents at a young age he was raised by the Ishgardian clergy, and, of course, growing up in an institution at the time of the Dragonsong War was not ideal. Or healthy. Abuse was rife within the institution, and as result, Aden lost a lot of his emotional capacity. Essentially, he displays sociopath traits*, most markedly being total inability to feel empathy. Unfortunately, Aden feels the changes which happened to him were a spell, or some other punishment via the clergy. He doesn't understand that the problem lies within him. After growing up, and getting deposited into a position as a manservant for a well-to-do subservient house affiliated underneath Dzemael, the Dragonsong war ended. Aden left Ishgard, hoping to find a 'cure' for his affliction, and thus came to southern Eorzea investigating any and all rumour of anything mystical or enchanted. *Disclaimer! Aden is not a 'villain' type character. Nor is he an 'antihero' or a 'victim'. My intention with this character is to roleplay someone not quite in-tune with society or the way it works. While popular media villainizes sociopaths, Aden isn't a Bad Guy. He's just oblivious- but notices the way people look at him sometimes for saying or doing things that seem perfectly natural to him. He'd give anything to be normal and a large part of the plot I have in the works for him is multiple attempts... Preferences: Ishgardian characters: Absolutely preferred, but not a dealbreaker if your character isn't. Aden tends to get on better with Ishgardian types, but he's more than open to any kind of interaction with anyone. If your character is Ishgardian though, I have a large preference for clergy / inquisitor / highborn / lowborn types with a good understanding of the nation and how it works. Long-term contacts: Important! I'm not into one and done scenarios. But please keep in mind this isn't to be a millstone around your neck! If, hypothetically, our characters don't really get any sort of benefit from talking to each other, then let me know and I'll be more than fine with it. A check: I describe Aden as frenetic himbo energy because his lack of empathy means he tends to be oblivious to nuance and tends to react inappropriately to things while acting like he's sweetness and light. Your boyfriend cheats on you? Your cat gets ran over? He'll probably laugh, and think the matter hilarious because he read somewhere that humour fixes everything, and treating the matter with humour is right, right? ...Wrong. Please contain. A guide: As I've explained above, Aden is a character that sees the world in a very limited way. Having someone he trusts (Trust can be earned with multiple RP sessions, it's not something to be expected right off the bat) explaining to him what's a good thing to do and what's a borderline nuts thing to do would be appreciated. He needs it. He really does. Treasure hunters / salvagers / historians / researchers: This is a big hook for me because Aden is very, very interested in these things. Mentor-type RP: Aden is probably the worst culinarian in Eorzea. It's sad. Please help. OOC Preferences / About me: I'm 21+ and would prefer to roleplay with people of the same age group. I'll stretch to 18+ but no lower, please. I'm GMT (UTC+1) so timing might be an issue. I will try though. Where there's a will, there's a way. I'm not averse to romance, but it really does have to be earned. While Aden identifies as gay**, his interactions with like-minded people have been very closed. In the past, he's hooked up with people because of a need. I'd love to do things differently, and have him learn to do things differently. **Disclaimer! While Aden is gay, that doesn't mean I'm not interested in roleplay with female characters. There's more to life than bumping imaginary uglies, and he'll take contacts of any gender. I'm more than open to forging (non-romantic) relationships with female characters, so please don't let that put you off! I value well-thought out characters and interesting themes, as well as effort put into roleplay. I'm not the RP police, I won't tell anyone off for typos, and I don't want to sound like an asshat, but low effort is the best way to put me off. If you've made it through all this, congrats! I hope Aden's someone you'd be interested in finding out about and sharing a plot with, and I'm looking forward to any/all responses. (Fingers crossed.)

Hey there! I did a /sea for Levinth and Lamia and couldn't see them online, but I'll keep trying! I'm good to rp with whichever you'd like, I have very little preference. Whatever works for you! -

Oh, your wiki is very interesting! I did a quick /sea for you and couldn't find you online. I'll keep trying though. o7 -
Hello! Aurege, an inquisitor of the Holy See is currently looking for contacts from Ishgard, ideally some individuals he'd deem "Above board". What he's after is the following: Minor nobility / servants of minor nobility. Dragoons / members of other knightly orders. Other members of the church. (Most specifically theologians.) Anyone, affiliated in any way, to House Durendaire. And while he's not looking for it -- I'd like to shove some not-very-acceptable Ishgardians his way. Because fun. Heretics / Ex-heretics. Dark knights. Temple knights (Disclaimer: While Temple Knights in themselves are a rather "good" force, he doesn't quite know how to take the reforms of the church that Ser Aymeric brought in at the moment -- much less the warrior of light storming the vault. As result, he'd likely be very snippy with most of the man's followers until he makes his mind up.) Criminals, famous or not so. Any/all interaction is welcomed, and thanks!

Oh, great! What also struck me is that you're Garden, right? The character I'd like to introduce you to is actually from Thaliak's Eye -- whom are affiliated with you guys. I'm sure that'll be interesting small talk until conversation gets more criminally inclined! Is it ok if I PM you when you're on?

Hi there. I've created a new character, with a bit of a twist. Twist being done quite a bit before, and that's magitek augmentation. Sarnai possesses a magitek spinal column and arm, to account for limbs lost and bones broken in previous battles. A taste of him, plus some concept drawings are below. It's my first time roleplaying someone with Garlean affiliation, much less an out-and-out villain, so please let me know what you think. Backstory - Dotharl fight. Dotharl war. Dotharl… are not a nice tribe. At all. In the midst of curbstomping a rival tribe, Sarnai, a young warrior of twenty years, was injured. Horribly. Bruised, bloody, beaten, missing an arm and with a broken back, Sarnai prepared to die within the battlefield - his tribe having moved on their merry way, to kill and pillage so many more tribes with no thought to their own dead or dying. A passing Garlean patrol stumbled upon the battlefield, en route to Doma, hopelessly lost within the mountainous region. An opportunistic primus pilus decided to do the best with what opportunity had presented, and decided to take the injured au ra with them - after having a field medic cauterize his wounds. As time went on, Sarnai’s information, directions, and advice served the patrol well. When they reached the rest of their legion and prepared to take Doma, Sarnai once again prepared for death. He’d outlived his use, after all. He, above most people, was under no illusions of the fact life was short. He’d survived twenty years. In Dotharl terms, that wasn’t a bad stretch. And then, for the first time in his life, he was surprised. Following the (unexpectedly) glowing praise he was granted toward the unit’s Tribunus by the primus plius, He was tasked further. The fall of Doma was somewhat messy - and as result, had meant that many had fled. The Garleans saw fit to allow “natural elements” to see to handling the survivors. “Natural elements” of course were the surrounding Dotharl as much as monsters. Tasked with re-entering the Dotharl, and handling “recruitment”, (palming off the dying victims of his tribe’s violent nature into Garlean conscription) Sarnai was granted a magitek arm, plus a completely rebuilt magitek spinal column, so he could successfully re-integrate as what he originally was - a warrior, the only thing of worth to the Dotharl - complete with synthetic skin grafts so his affiliations could remain secret. Concept drawings- (Please do not post these anywhere. I worked hard on them, and really don't want to see them edited, or unedited, on anyone else's wikis.) - magitek spinal column (without grafts) - magitek arm (without grafts) Insecurities - Doman history - I'm looking for verification on the fact Doma is in Othard, and close to Alabatha's Spine. While I'm sure that I've read information somewhere before that states Doma and the mountains of the Raen are close- plus within Othard, I can't refind it and I'm looking for a little confirmation. Magitek augmentation - While I'm aware that handing that sort of tech out to non-Garleans is pretty unheard of, I'm going with a "one good plius" angle on this, plus the fact that Sarnai had a job to do with reuniting a small Garlean force with their legion, plus has a job to do with rounding up survivors as reasoning for why he wasn't just shot on sight. I have specified that he does have skin grafts (or at the very least, a synthetic skin and darksteel scales) to not make his enhancements apparent, so I can rp within XIV without anyone knowing about his arm. Some thoughts on this would be appreciated -- especially from folk that've done the augmentation thing before. Thanks very much for all your help!

Can I get an opinion? This is my First Char Profile
aure replied to Halstein Mercer's topic in Character Workshop
With respect (and I really don't mean this to be condescending) but that's misinformation. While it's true that soul stones are rare, "one in the world" is completely false. Both the Summoner and Dark Knight storylines show that there's certainly more than one of each. (Tristan is collecting them, and Frey and Sidurgu both hold them in the Dark Knight storyline.) -
Welcome! If you're stuck for a RP FC, I'd liiike to juuuust pimp the Crimson Wolves, or at least chuck the idea your way and hope it sticks. I'm personally GMT, and we've a few americans, though it's pretty regular that we're all online at the same time. If you're interested, we'd love to have you!

Hello! I understand it's been a while since you posted this (my forum-fu is lacking) though I'd like to point you towards the Crimson Wolves. We've a few american players, (and one aussie. She's kind of the leper. Kiiind of.) though I'm from Wales myself and I'd love to have more GMT people about! Hopefully you'll give us a look.

Player-made Ishgardian Noble Houses Directory
aure replied to Blue's topic in Chronicled Connections
Server: Balmung Noble House Name: House Trebair Pledging/Related/Serving to High House: Independent. Description: There are four High Houses within Ishgard, whom have stood tall for nigh upon a century. Unflinching, Unmoving, Unchanging -- even as the world around these Houses, around Ishgard Herself, has indeed flinched, moved, and changed. Smaller Houses have risen, if not to nobility - to riches. House Trebair is but one of them, new money in an utterly old society thanks to the increased demand for two commodities turned priceless at this stage of the Dragonsong War, Furite and Mythril. Trebair's fortunes have soared indeed, but money cannot buy distinction. House Trebair ride the tides of fortune --- albeit gracelessly, and with all the pomp and ceremony of Houses far, far above them -- earning the ire of the far greater Houses they attempt to emulate. (shameless link: RPC Thread | Community Site) Included Races: Wildwood Elezen. Members: "Count" Dralent d'Trebair - A spoiled sap of a man, whose entire purpose appears to be meandering after his lady wife's whims - whims which have turned especially worrying as of late. "Countess" Irone d'Trebair - An overbearing, overweening woman who is indeed a lady, in (purchased) title alone. Her arrogance is only rivaled by her vanity -- and her odd penchant for the macabre, something which has turned especially worrying as of late. Evrant d'Trebair - How such a level-headed, approachable son could have been born from such sires is indeed a mystery -- yet the heir of House Trebair is at once approachable, and somewhat sweet. He aspires - as most born into a bed of absolute crazy tend to - to leave his house as soon as he is able, and fight for his country as a dragoon. His applications have been turned down repeatedly however, and all knights willing to allow the lad to squire for them have mysteriously disappeared. Footnotes: Members of this House are. kind of. appable. kind of. Really, we'd prefer that the FC's story gets to a certain point before we start bringing in the big guns, but if you've an amazing idea, we'd love to hear it! Otherwise, we're almost always on the look-out for mercenaries. If you like the sound of your character running around after completely egotistic not-nobles, send us a line! -
Updated the rules slightly (to include the obvious - something overlooked at last revision), and we are accepting one more application to put us at 10 members. We feel that 10 is a moderate number to begin our story with, as we have no wish to become a RP FC where people feel little more than a number. We wish for our players to get to know each other, and their characters to form bonds with each other before we open applications again - likely one month from our tenth member's join date.
