  2. I realize I haven't been updating this page with changes I have been doing so I apologize about that. I have recently updated the system to include Stormblood and then-some! That does not mean all of our actions are for the less than pure. We have business meetings, discussing politics and sharing information, going to dinner parties, expanding and building our network. Doing favors, helping those who perhaps are in need... Not to mention doing the experiments and the surgeries that need to happen. With the time they had, they crafted for us a one of a kind system that allows our members to make unique character spreadsheets for memorable IC encounters.   7. Well, don't feel too compelled to nerf that HP pool too much though. As I said, keep in mind that it was a tutorial for people, so my NPCs were basic gladiators and stuff... And they were only two against like, 5 of us! But yeah, I think that -20 HP can be cool. Since the HP bonuses for tank classes don't change it tends to differenciate them a lot more with the squishy ones. Eventually the nice thing is that you can adapt it to various groups of power: people playing average joes will get freelancers with 50HP, and people playing heroes facing tons of powerful enemies may want to buff it up a lot. Your new point system for magic looks fine to me. It's a good idea. I would probably still proceed differently in my case but that's mostly taste! Ideally, I think what I would do is an easy to grasp skill tree of sorts for pretty much every command skill: For example a conjurer character will pick up as one of their commands the healing magic one. The player says "my character is a novice", so they just take the basic package. Then they say instead "they are a senior conjurer", they take the basic lvl 1 package, the lvl2 one, as well as the level 3. I would break down every command into 3 tiers. Mostly for fluff, no points behind, just for a roleplay perspective. You know you play a powerful character, you choose accordingly. Well at least that's what I did myself more or less. All in all it boils down to "my character gained lots of experience in conjury the past year, so let's upgrade his conjury lvl1 to conjury lvl2". I like that because it allows me to differenciate grizzled vets from green novices. For the Grit skill, well, I would ideally have expected it you know, to have just a different effect than the defensive one, but I totally understand that at some point you just run out of different things to find with all that. Actually, if you have a suggestion for Grit I would love to hear it! As of right now, it's set so that there is at least one defensive move in the DRK set. But I'm curious to hear your alternative if you have an idea. And I glad you liked the point system. I was going for the branching system at first, but it ended up being a lot of redundancy and a lot of people were not happy with spells being missing in certain sets and it was a lot, so I talked to some people and they said they would be happy with the point system, this way they can collect the spells they really want, and for those who want to be the new characters can just take simple spells and those who are the vets can get the stronger ones.

Taking all the suggestions and doing a bit of tests, I updated the system with a major change, turning it to 1.1 Patch 1.1 (5/17/2016): Magic Rework: Point System Freelancer HP has been dropped from 70 to 50, meaning all lost 20HP All classes and jobs buffed (either by +5HP or +1AP, please check class and job values) Mechanics page was updated to provide information on the new point system All spells were given a "Spell Value" Magic (Lv.1) changed to Allows user to pick spells from spell list, up to 20 points Magic (Lv.2) changed to Allows user to pick spells from spell list, up to 40 points Magic (Lv.3) changed to Allows user to pick spells from spell list, up to 70 points Several spells removed from Black Magic Command List (see command list for current BLM spell list) Blue Magic changed to fit with the new spell system Summon changed from spells to command set

  12. Thank you for all that! I will try to figure out a good way to break up the magic, cause I tend to agree with you that there is a lot for one set. An idea that comes to mind is to change the levels and schools into points, so say enfeebling 1 would be 1 point set, while enfeebling 2 costs 3. Can assign each level of magic, say, magic lv.1 gets 3 points to speed on school lists, 2 gets like 6, etc etc. How does that sound as a quick thought? The issues for Grit and all that is that as designed right now, the commands sets are defaulted to the one assign with the job if they pick a job. So there are better defensive moves than Grit if they pick another skill set, but some people may not want to, and may want to stick with grit as is. Grit does cause you to do a lot less damage when you act, but some may be fine with that. Some may want a better one. It's mostly to make sure there are plenty of options available for everyone. The HP was a result of not enough originally! People we killing each other in 3-4 turns, but with more feedback I will adjust to what the majority thinks. But I am glad you are enjoying it!
  13. I'm leaving the system as it is for the moment until I get more feedback for the next set of changes. Right now I haven't been hearing too much from anyone, and I do not want to blindly change anything. If you have any feedback/suggestions/comments, please let me know!

I debated what to vote for it was either class or other, but in the end, I voted other, as I am one of the few stubborn few who kept my char a 1.0 oriented thaumaturge in character, to keep to her roots. This actually made things quite interesting in RP about politics and debate as thanks to the letters we got in 1st year anniversary it gives a bit of an interesting story. My character despised the Sultana now for her actions of altering the thaumaturge guild, viewing her as weakening Ul'dah, makes her look at those who train under the lalafells in charge now as weaker mages who desire to chase the black. I also have quite a love to the 1.0 astral and umbral spells, and just couldn't see this duality removed from my character. I made sure to keep a solid list of these abilities before the 1.23 change so I always have reference to them, and I like when they pop up in game, confirming that they still exist in lore (Banish, Banish III for example). All in all, Ravusa refers to herself as a 'thaumaturge' or a previous 'priestess of nald'thal', only because she is loyal to the old ways and to the old guild she used to be part of, despite learning more from when she first started and having much more knowledge under her belt from all those years.

  18. Often we do, if you look at the combat sheet tab, we have it set up that people take care of their own HP/AP/statuses, etc.. Typically the GM focuses more on mobs and the crew on themselves. The combat sheet also has calculations built in to help make keeping track of number easier! We personally made a copy of that sheet and moved it to a separate document where everyone can edit when we run our events. It makes things easier for everyone in the end as they are only focused on themselves and what they plan on doing. In terms of order, we usually roll initiative first then the GM puts the names and everyone inputs their info. Here is a visible example of the sheet in use (ignore Malady, was a GM created status for the boss):
  19. We actually have a sheet in the we used to keep track of turns and actions, and I saved a copy of it in the CS for people to take. I also made sure to make the character sheet have calculators built in so all you need to do is input the numbers and it will take care of the rest. \o/ I do not think we ever needed to pause for anything more than a moment, and usually there is plenty of time waiting for an RP post to calculate the number before hand.
  20. Not sure if this count's as raising a thread from the dead, but I have finally/formally uploaded the 1.0 version. It seems much more complete now and my patch notes will be much more clean/formal than before. Hope everyone enjoys it \o/
  21. I spent a lot of time on this, trying to figure out what would be best to handle this. Unfortunately there will always be drama and arguments on the subject of who is better than who and all that, so I thought the best way is to leave everything rather equal, no levels, nothing like that. If a person wants to play a weaker character, than can choose not to have abilities or actions in a list, choose not to use stances, choose to pick freelancer and not take all the commands/traits they are allowed. They can even nerf their stats lower if they would like. Really this is up to the players, as I cannot control what people do, only suggest what would be best.

  24. Hey everyone! Combat System Creator here! I've been neglecting posting this in the forum (halfway between lazy and busy), but here is a link to the CS that I created for to help make RP combat more interesting. It's be compared to a table top Final Fantasy Tactics, and I take that as a compliment. I've gotten more than a few messages in game about this, saying I should post it, so, here I am. Look at me post! I am more than willing for others to use it and all that junk. I spent a good amount of time on this and had many testers help me with balance and flow. [align=center]X|V:CS[/align] Goal was to make it play almost like a tabletop FF:Tactics with how commands work and how you build a character. I did my best to keep it both very open (so that all types of characters can be accurately represented in this system) and very fitting to lore (So it does not stop feeling like FFXIV while using it). There is not much rolling, and if there is a need for rolling, it is designed to use the /random already implemented in game. I did not want there to be even more web pages/outside tools open to use it in the middle of an RP event. Let me know what you guys think! Feedback is appreciated, and I would love to see this grow, even potentially becoming a global tool. If anyone needs help with it or clarifications let me know as well. I'm leaving it at 0.95 until I get confirmation from enough people that it is good enough to call a full version. I will more than likely do balance updates and changes upon comments and requests so do not be surprise if you see that change. Also I went with the classic/Japanese naming conventions for most spells and abilities cause I like them...that's really it. They can always be renamed to roman numerals if needed, just thought Firaga looks better than Fire III. Happy RPing!
