  1. Willkommen. Willkommen. Fire away with questions, we are a friendly and helpful bunch. Look forward to seeing you in zee game.
  2. Agreed. We are all excited, and that is a really great thing. We just need to take a little personal responsibility, think our actions through, and not let that excitement lead us to making silly little mistakes. That said, leave us continue to be having fun. ^ ^
  3. Welcome to the party, pal!
  4. So I have noticed some things, and I think something needs mentioning. I am not calling anyone out, that would be silly and unproductive. That said, can we agree to NOT post anything beta related on this site and the wiki please. NDA's are serious business, and knowingly breaching them would reflect on this site and the RPC somewhat poorly. I think no one really wants that, and I KNOW no one wants to risk their future beta access. Just a friendly suggestion. -Yssen
  5. I had a couple people ask me this, and I just finished my extensive analysis. Behind zee spoiler I gives you Hope sturf.
  6. Seconded. I freelance so my schedule is my own, so long as I get my work in on time. Which I always do. Bwhahahaha, responsibility! I am also not an EU player, but I do lay claim to your RP. A note on severs, I would not worry about this too much for the moment. The whole thing is up in the air until we have more concrete details. Assume Balmung if it still exists. I would not expect a plan until more concrete details come forth. Don't panic. When details do come forward in a more solid fashion, the community shall keep you informed as to what is up. Yar! Look forward to seeing you guys in Eorzea.
  7. :tonberry: is a Tonberry. He grudges on everyone, but he tends to be cute looking. He also tends to stab people in the throat with his little knife there. Still, he is kinda adorable. ^ ^
  8. Welcomes to the both of you. Hope to see you in ARR and that you find it to your liking.

    Hello. Bienvenue. Willkommen.
  14. I have deeply enjoyed listening to all this stuff guys. Thanks for sharing! Keep it up!
  15. Right, like various authority figure are not ALREADY after him. Can't say he'd cross the line into that territory though, what with having an adopted 14 year old. Is pretty hilarious though, and I do love a good joke. ;p All and all switching was a good plan, though.
  16. Hi! Please enjoy these various welcoming bits and bobs. Looking forward to seeing you around.
  17. On the subject of slavery. I cannot say for sure that actual full blown slavery exists in Eorzea. I do know that some of the Ul'dah quest lines make reference to a situation similar to indentured servitude happening when someone cannot pay off a debt. Also, there are several mentions of the poor being put into various forms forced servitude in Uldy (good old Ul'dah, great for making you think twice as to whether or not the city state is even worth saving). I would also think it is an sentence option for lawbreakers. I think acceptance of the concept of slavery largely depends on where you are from, and the particular flavor of slavery being talked about. The concept is there, but I think they tend to sugar coat and pretty it up with words. They call it something other than what it actually is, basically. Hope this was helpful.
  18. I think you are on the right track with not telling the world every chance you get. I also do not think there is really a prescribed norm for it. The suggested viewing of the WHM and CON quest lines is a good start. What also might be helpful is viewing or reviewing some of the Gridania related quest stuff us. I know that in the Main Scenario start for Gridania there is a point where an Elemental shows up and most people don't understand it. It just makes various noises at them. Also, I'd check some of the material as far as the Echo is concerned. I know that having it conveys an understanding of various languages and forms of communication. Moogles go over this at one point in a Grid quest, I think. There is a thing made about how the character can understand what the Moogles are saying. Your character may or may not have the Echo, that is entirely up to you as a player, but looking at some of the Echo materials out there on it might give you a good idea as to what it is like to understand something that no one else around you does. Failing that, there is the old stand by of looking like your crazy and talking to yourself when you are really talking to an elemental. I am admittedly not sure if Elementals are not visible to everyone when they are manifested. I do know that you cannot see then when they are inhabiting nature things. My understanding is also that they can still be heard by those that communicate with them when they are being a tree or what have you. Hope this helps.
  19. I'll volunteer Yssen for this. Whee.
  20. Not so much scouts. The Pugilist Guild in Ul'dah sees to the collection and satisfaction of debts. Like the boxer who comes to break your legs because you owe the loan shark. They also run the Platinum Mirage (a casino). Do not get me wrong, when a Pugilist shows up, most people pay up. They are not exactly loan shark enforcers. They are just prepared to do the same sorts of things when it becomes necessary. Like much in Ul'dah, there is some seedy underworldy and roguey flavor to them, but nothing really in mechanics that makes them a roguey class. Well there is Blindside, but that is really about it. Hope this was helpful. ^ ^
