Um. It doesn't have arms, but... Nevermind." Hope shakes her head and tosses some fire pots into the neck hole of the second, armless but still moving Dullahan. "Not big on situational awareness is he? FIRE IN THE HOLE!" Hope strides over to where Abaigeal and Genevieve were standing, beaming a big broad grin as the fire pots go off. "Mr. Miner or Mysterious White Miqo'te, you wanna finish that off if it is still moving? Please and thank you!" Hope puts Genevieve's hand in her hands and smiles at her. "Hey! Buck up you! Scary part is over, and we are all fine. Shake it off, mmmm? I have your back. Everything will be fine, I promise. A big blue idiot told me not make a promise to anyone that I could not keep. I'm gonna need your help to keep this one, though. Okay? Dad will have me doing forms until my limbs fall off if he catches wind I didn't keep a promise. So I'm gonna watch your back, and you are going to watch mine. Got it?" Hope looks Genevieve in the eyes, still smiling, and waits patiently for a response.

Looks great. Liking the features and the final product and the overall simplicity. Yar!

I. Basic Info Characters:Yssen Van, Hope Van Primary character:Yssen Van Linkshells:Shimmer Song Primary RP linkshell:Shimmer Song II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Mmmmm. Complex question. I am usually always some percentage of IC at all times, unless there are IC circumstances that prevent it. If one of my characters is stuck in Gridania for X reason and I am running around Ul'dah for instance. Still, I tend to hang out/idle in the locations my character is actually supposed to be. The point is, to some degree I am always IC, even if it is in my own head space. There is really no point I am not up for RP on some level. Views on RP combat and injuries: They are often times necessary. I have no problems having a character be injured, like at all. When you win all the time and come out unscathed, you are boring. Combat is tricky with me. I tend to prefer collaborative storytelling/typing it out for most combat, but I am flexible and understand that other methods are needed. Kinda not a fan of /random, or similar systems. They seem to fall flat in execution in my experience, too much raw luck involved. Creative solutions, go! Views on IC romance: From an IC stand point? Bring it! Relationships of all kinds define a character and add to shared experience, why leave any out. IC romance is fine, great, and wonderful. It leads a character down neat roads and totally shift's their priorities. When stuff gets all murky in the OOC area, problems occur. When the IC/OOC bleed gets too whacky, I tend to think it is time to have a talk about the fact that I am not in fact the creation I am portraying. I tend to cross that bridge when it comes to it though, giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. ^ ^ Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): See above. I will add though that I am hugely into collaboration. Just because this stuff is defined on a wiki or in my head does not mean I am not open to shifting a few things around to slip a few surprises in here and there. I tend to leave holes or spaces in things specifically for these purposes, and dance around like a kitty on catnip when stuff like that crops up. Not kidding. Views on lore: Lore is a pretty good place to start and stick to. When everyone starts being the special snowflake (or ignore bits and bobs of lore they don't like) it detracts from the overall experience a bit. Lore should not reduce anyone's possible creativity, though. Rules are meant to be bent or broken (with in reason) when creative bits comes up. What am I trying to accomplish/put out there? Can I do it without breaking and twisting lore to a crazy extent? Is it worth breaking and twisting lore to do it? These are the questions I usually ask myself when such things come up. That said, I am never going to tell someone they are wrong for their own messing around with lore, and expect the same courtesy from others. I do reserve the right to have my character think a character is crazy bonkers when they throw out something really really outrageous though. First rule of improv is "always accept, never deny." Works for most things. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Always in say and public. That is my rule unless some circumstance or general politeness calls for something different. For /linkshell it depends on the shell. IC? Then everything in there is IC unless otherwise indicated, and vice versa for OOC shells. Simple things are best sometimes. III. I tend to agree that moderation and mediation will be required. That may seem dire, but I look at it mostly as a prepare for the worst and hope for the best scenario. In a perfect world everyone gets along and no one goes off the deep end and drama-tacular. We do not live in a perfect world, no one is going to agree 100% of the time, and when people go a bit to far in their someone will have to step in and uphold some basic ground rules. Granted, I could be proven wrong. Everything could be sunshine and butterflies. Things fall apart rapidly when things take a turn for the worst, and there is nothing in place to deal with the situation. Without moderation or mediation we give ourselves over to collectivist/mob rule, and I have rarely seen that work out well in any community. The previous incarnation of the shell already had good policy, organization, and ground rules in place. I do not think that it is a good idea to move away from those things, to a more hands off approach than before. In my mind this is not about leadership or who has a dot next to their name. This is all about public service, and giving back to a community I from which I draw a great deal of enjoyment. It is in this spirit that I am willing to volunteer my time, expertise, and energy.

I volunteer to help get the shell made and moderated when things get rolling in the beta.

"Oh. Good. Doings are a transpiring." Hope snaps to her feet and bolts down the stairs, disappearing into the darkness well before her blade of grass hits the ground. She quickens her pace as she hears the sounds of combat, sprinting up to the scene, but stopping abruptly to take it in. Taking note of Endermerrin's position below, she withdrew several chakram from her belt, put on her knuckles, and dashed past Myllor, flipping into the chamber below. Hope unleashed five chakram at the height of her jump, wedging one in both of the elbow joints of each of the giant metal monstrosities, and the fifth in the knee of Endermerrin's opponent. "Use the chakram as a wedge," Hope said as she landed and dashed toward the sword wielding Dullahan. "Apply pressure, pop the joint, and sweep the leg." She zipped forward, tossing out a fire pot, and using the flash to cover the exact direction of her assault. Dashing through the flash, she slammed a kick into the chakram wedged into the sword wielder's left arm. She followed ip up with several rapid punches, and one final kick. Hope smiled as the Dullahan's left forearm clattered to the ground. "Like that," she said grinning, flipping backward out of the way of her opponent's counter assault, and hand springing back into a ready stance. "Just. Like. That."

Phase 4 stuff will be carried over to official release, that is correct. As far as a date when shenanigans commence again across the board, one could make a case for any phase of beta. It is important to remember that not all of us are Legacy though, and therefore not all of us will be automatically in at phase 1. From a personal stand point, some of pockets of people have already picked up stuff that is post rift return. This has been done largely with the understanding that some details may change when we find out more info in beta. Nothing prevents one from having canon stuff over skype or some other medium other than personal preference. We are, of course, also aware that those that did not get poofed through time have been filling in the five year gap as beta approaches. For my two gil. Canon out of the rift whenever you want it on a personal level, if all parties agree. Stage 4 beta or later for across the board shenanigans. That is just me though.

Just a couple of notes here on OCC and IC mechanics of the shell, at least in my mind. As always, feel free to add your own thoughts. On an OCC level there will be a link shell leader and officers/sack holders, I want to state very clearly that in my mind this is not an IC mechanic. The "officer duties" of such individuals will be largely OOC (moderating, preventing spamming, harassment, etc.) no character will have IC authority based on a little graphic next to their name. Ignore them, they don't exist IC. Everyone should be just an individual member. The only IC reason I see for someone being kicked would be if they revealed the existence, membership details, or other secrets of the group. Even under these cases I would rather leave that up to the judgement of several individuals with in the shell itself, something like each individual member voting on whether or not the violator gets to stay. These situations cause conflict and good drama, which is fairly enjoyable in most cases, so why hamper it. I feel I should clarify the nature of the symbols and symbolism. I really was not thinking along the lines of anything too mystical. Markings in areas being a rough equivalent of real life hobo code. These would be different from alerting a member to your presence (the early christian fish symbol I referenced earlier). Markings for things like "this is a safe place" or "beware of what lives in this cave," and so one. Signs for occasions when (and if) you wish to make person to person contact with another member. Markings are probably best handled in shell, unless we garner enough members to make a form of living document or wiki to distribute. Signs best handled and Eva pointed out (thanks for your input btw Eva ^ ^) with a public emote, and an OOC note in the shell that you are in fact making your presence known in a way members will recognize. I imagine there is probably a whole slew of symbology and code that each member uses. I also want to echo what Zesiro said about flexibility of adding members. I believe this should totally be handled ICly with individual members handing out pearls to people they think are worthy. It stands to me as one the best possible expressions of valuing and preserving individual freedom. All it takes is one person vouching for another, and nothing more complex than that. The due diligence, observation, and probation was all completed before the new member was even offered the pearl. Each member trusts that the others know what the group is, and that they abide by each other's individual judgement. After all, who are they to say "you cannot do that." Lastly on the note of whether or not the shell will hold events of its own. It is possible, but I believe that it should only be done if necessary. The core concept is to link the community together ICly, and to help establish shared narrative and experiences between RPers. Will the shell run events of it's own? Maybe, but I really only think it should do so when necessary. I want to be clear that people can get the shell involved in whatever they wish, even if it is a scenario of purely your own creation. In fact, I would like to encourage this. Plots and scenarios that require the attention direct intevention of an entire secret society would probably have to be ridiculously epic by nature, and I think the shell should shy away from an "epic of the month" scenario, and focus on what content other RPers are putting out there. Just my personal opinion though. I am very excited to see collaboration continue, and see other people's thoughts and opinions. I am very much looking forward to when this goes live in ARR. I really have only a few clues as to where this will lead, but I am very much excited to see what the trail getting there looks like. Thank you for your interest and opinions and keep stuff coming.

Yssen at 13 is skinny and wiry. His hair should be just above shoulder length, though imagine it scattered about with him laying on his back. His eyes are still somewhat innocent, but there should be just a touch of wild in them, like fire. He will have yet to have his facial tattoo at this point. Clothing wise, a pair of knee high boots, an unbuttoned long coat/p coat looking thing, fairly simple shirt, and he probably has a full mask in one of his hands. A ring band on one of his hands would also not be inappropriate. Color scheme would be darkish, save for the shirt. Expression, probably actually not smirking and actually smiling for once. Let me know if you need more description/clarification.

As far as the marks go, I am envisioning passing such information along via the shell. I am not against having a wiki thing, but that would seem to be a bit much on the effort front at this phase. Once we have a great handle numbers of people involved, we can cross that bridge. I also agree that this should by no means be considered a main shell. The initial concept is for it to be a "linking shell" for lack of a better term. That being, something that links characters across many "main shells." I also very much want the main culture of the shell to be determined by its membership. There will be thieves, but by no means will every member be a thief. If that makes any sense. It is also worth pointing out that the concepts of a "Brotherhood" or "Fraternity" fit very well along the lines of my thinking. I am also a fan of passing out pearls being based on the individual. The idea of the 1.0 officer stars meaning anything IC at all with the shell sticks poorly in my craw as well.

Hope turns her attention to Abaigeal and giggles a bit. "Law keeper? Mmmmm no. Not so much. He is a fan of watch lists. I'm glad ya find me funny though. No one seems to get me sometimes, so it is refreshing." Hope laughs a bit again, still looking at Abaigeal. "Oh? Is your dad a bit blue box of 'what-the-hell-are-you-making-me-do-this-for' too?" Hope slips herself up onto a bit of a ledge and perches, watching as the Shy Girl tumbles and the Newcomer Cat Boy tried to catch her with somewhat disastrous. She quirks her lips a bit and flops herself back down from her perch after the dust settles. She takes a keen interest in the exchange between Aurelion and the one he calls Mtoto. She paces a bit before, tapping her chin with her index finger. When the mi'qote woman has descended into the darkness below she flops herself on the steps and lays backward on the ground in front of the entrance. "Well that was certainly... intersting. Everyone okay back there?" Hope's cadences her query in a very sing song fashion, eventually pulling up a suitable blade of grass. "Who is the Newcomer again? And for that matter Mr. Miner, what the heck are you doing here?" Hope idly plays a tune, using the blade of grass as a whistle, while she waits for people do be done with their reunions and explanations.

I do like RP, leave us do this thing. Yar.

In. I have a fairly large collection of notes somewhere around here... Anyway, happy to contribute.
-
I am willing art at this AND be in int. yaaaar!

I have a funneh idea for the twins. I'll hit you up about it and see what you think.

Hope giggles when she hears her name, and watches the reunion slightly impatiently. "Yup! That's me!" she says with a smile and several rapid nods. She waits for the reunion hug to finish before charging the black clad gentleman with a brief hug of her own. "Aurelion, right?" Hope says, flopping back against the Deepcroft entrance as she withdraws from the hug. "Different than the miner I remember. Dad still owes you for that thing doesn't he? You should probably remind him. It helps when you remind him. Anyway, fancy meeting you here. With these people." She looks around at the rest of the group before stretching her arms back behind her head and closing her eyes.
-
I look forward to hearing your ideas and future collaboration. ^ ^

Hope finishes scampering her way up to the entrance of the Deepcroft and rocks back and forth on her heals as she looks at those that have already arrived. She stops suddenly after a few moments, her eyes falling on the black clad stranger waiting at the entrance. She purses her lips ever so slightly and then unfurls them into a wry grin. "Do I know you, Mr. Brooding-Black- Dressed-Stranger-Man? Do you know me? No tricks now." Hope giggles and flops against the wall imitating the dark armored stranger's previous "serious business" in a playful fashion. After a few moments she peeks her tongue out and makes a face, returning to a bit of giggling. "Being tricksy to a sweet little girl like me would just be ever so mean," she says in a sing song voice, stretching out into a more relaxed pose against the entrance. "Don't be mean. I have rocks and I know how to use them."

So. I have been kicking around a concept for a Meta-Shell. Basically, a shell that contains a membership that actively crosses the boundaries of other link shells in the community. More than a group of friends, companions, mercenaries, adventurers, et cetera, this would be a group that specifically unifies any and (hopefully all) characters that fall into a broad bailiwick. The idea being to inspire cross shell role-play. The base concept is a collection of Oschon followers, and is expanded to include others. The "other" category would be those who do not necessarily follow Oschon as a deity, but do fall under what would be considered under Oschon's bailiwick. Examples being; vagrants, adventurers, explorers, thieves/bandits, and even teachers (Halone is Oschon's student and companion after all). This collections purpose is to share information, not to be confused with knowledge (which would be more Thaliak's bailiwick). The group is much more interested in that which can be practically applied, rather than studied and debated. They gather information, secrets, et cetera, and share it with one another. They also probably tend to meddle, but that is not a hard requirement. The collection is a secret one. There are no limiters put on the individual members to keep the group's secrets, other than the trust that the rest of the group places in it's members, and the social stigma that would result from betrayal of that trust. The organization has no leadership, and no overly complex structure. In the rare event that the group must adopt some sort of overarching policy (which is probably incredibly temporary in terms of length) it is determined democratically, with each individual member receiving one vote (think how pirate crews and such determined a captain or charter terms). The group also does not impose or enforce any specific form of morality beyond what individual members adhere to themselves. Likewise, the group will have not restrictions on the types of organizations individual members are allowed to join. In short, this is a group very much dedicated to the concept of individual freedom over structure. There are a few rough cultural ideas bouncing around in my brain. Stuff like coded markings left on trails or in cities, methods of covertly identifying individual members in public, etc. Ideas that keep sticking around for me at present are things like one member marking part of Oschon's symbol down, to have it be completed by another member (similar to how early Christians identified one another with the fish symbol), or verbal triggers such as specific songs or subject matter being referenced in public conversation. If interested in membership of collaboration in bringing this thing to life, please reply to this thread and we'll get some conversation going. All the better to hash out details before we all pop up in Beta in about a month. Thank you in advance for your time/interest. I look forward to hashing this out and RPing stuff with you guys. -Yssen PS - It should be noted that I am flexible as far as anything already set down in this post. I would like for this to be a true collaboration with members of the community.
