Dogberry! He looks like he should be lead singer for a metal band. Eyepatch, because everyone has a Ziggy Stardust phase, right? Turn camera... 3/4 profile Full profile.

I'm playing a male Roeg, and I want to see more female Roegs!

It has been my experience with this bunch so far, that we are also very much the "magical realism" crowd. While I can't speak for everyone, I don't think you'll find many sparkly vampires (or any vampires at all as they're not something you can really be in this game) or a Sephiroth clones. I think it's safe to say you're in good company here. When I RP'd in FFXI, I found the RP linkshell I'd eventually join at a party they threw. Some of the people in my social/light RP linkshell were invited, and I tagged along with them. We hung out in Bastok, and I liked what I saw. Groups hold events like that all the time. Plus, RPers like to congregate in interesting places, so if it looks like a decent set piece, there will probably be some RPers showing up eventually. As far as "evil vs. good", I try to keep within a "shades of gray" mentality. An assassin can be a good person if his victims are truly horrible, and a soul-scarred mercenary can have a heart of gold. A common pitfall I see new RPers getting trapped in is the need to spout tons of personal exposition to the first passerby they meet. Yes, you've created an interesting backstory for your character. That's awesome! But think about how you actually react to strangers. If you're standing on a bus stop with someone, and they engage you in small talk are you going to tell them your life story? No, you're going to small talk back. This might lead to actual conversation, and if it's relevant then hey, you can throw in some personal information! I think very hard about how my character speaks, the type of idioms or slang they use, and how they respond to other people. I want it to sound as natural as possible, and unless I'm playing an absolute blabbermouth, my character isn't going to blab to a stranger about every little detail of their life.

What games are you playing/looking forward to?

Shadowrun Returns is supposed to come out this month! I've heard nothing about a solid release date, though! -
FF14 now confirmed to be coming to the ps4
Dogberry replied to Cornet Espoir's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Wooo! I look forward to the devs citing PS4 limitations for things they just flat out don't want to do. -
I totally relate. The "main" offline FF games to me are like the old girlfriend I remember fondly until I catch up with her and remember why we broke up.

Indeed it does! Dune is absolutely one of my favorite books. What did you think of it? Welcome to the RPC! I hope you have a ton of fun here!

I really don't like the character design, but that's nothing new for me. I've got a lot of gripes with Nomura's style. A cyberpunkish FF has kind of been a secret hope for mine for a while, so I think this game has some potential to be great. I'm just not entirely sure I trust Square Enix to not mess it up, especially when Nomura is at the helm. Guys, promise me if it's good you'll tell me.

I have to say it's weird to see a game reviewer quote Aleister Crowley in a review, but if the game can really be summed up as "do what thou wilt", awesome.

I play GW2 sometimes. I'm not entirely sure which server anymore. Does anyone play any online FPS games like Tribes: Ascend or Blacklight: Retribution? I also have a Planetside 2 account that I'm neglecting. -
Oh man, I was Velvetine on Galileo. Jen'quai Exploder, and hippie space miner aboard the ship All Tomorrow's Parties. I kind of miss mining zen. It was really relaxing to just find some asteroid field out somewhere in the solar system and just collect rocks or whatever.

WHAT SERVER WERE YOU ON IN EARTH AND BEYOND?! Uh... sorry, I got a little excited there. E&B was my first MMO, and I kind of have a soft spot for it still. I'm still pissed at EA for swallowing Westwood Studios and running that game into the ground. I was on Galileo server, and RP'd when I could find it. It was a lot of fun playing a space miner/trucker.

Sorry, it's kind of an idea I've been kicking around for a while! It's not going to be the same Reinbach. Uh... PM me or IM me about it or something and I'll tell you my idea!

Reinbach VI: Irresponsible Adventurer (my favorite title from FFXI)
-
I. Basic Info Characters: Dogberry Himalspyr, Reinbach VI Primary character: Dogberry Linkshells: Undecided Primary RP linkshell: Undecided II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium to heavy. I'm pretty good at justifying whatever I'm doing in character, so you can generally approach me and I can make something up on the fly. Views on RP combat and injuries: I would definitely prefer actual duels. It's just a lot easier to deal with than the randomness of dice or whatever. I don't mind it if my character gets an ass-whooping, either. That's just a part of life as an adventurer. Views on IC romance: Romance yay, ERP no. Ideally, I'd like to be pretty good friends OOC first. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): If you want to play a family member of my character, I kind of have to know and trust you OOC. Views on lore: Lore is why we're here. It can be bent to suit our needs, but breaking it is bad form. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): /say is IC. /linkshell is IC unless denoted. /party is usually for OOC comments. At least that's how I've always done it, but y'know, whatever we establish is fine. I'm easy. III. Other Info Country:US Timezone: Eastern Contact info: I can give you my AIM, and Skype upon request, otherwise reach me here.

RP Servers: A Discussion (mods please read before locking..)
Dogberry replied to Mtoto Wamoto's topic in RP Discussion
I can sort of relate with my FFXI experience. I started right around ToAU, and honestly, due to my work and living situations and the fact that FFXI was a downright insane grindfest at the time (Also the fact that I have ADHD and a tendency to just mess around chasing butterflies in MMO's), I leveled extremely slowly. In fact, I never made it to the level cap. It really sucked at times feeling like people's pet newbie. Especially at the beginning, when I was a lowbie and people were meeting up in Xarcabard. But I have to say, I made incredible friends in the group I RP'd with. Incredible friends who really helped me out with things like levels and gear, and commiserated when I was whining about how insanely crazy some of the simplest things in FFXI were. In RP, they never made my character feel like anything less than he actually was. These friends are so incredible that I'm here today, chomping at the bit to play with them again. Even if I'm not quite meeting them on even ground this time, because of their Legacy status, it's more even than FFXI, and I hope at this point I can repay some of their kindness, and even pay a little bit of it forward. -

The most recent picture of me was taken yesterday, at a LARP, as I was fighting in a pit fight. I'm the big dude in orange.

Does this include an athlete agency, because my character has big aspirations for his bare-knuckle boxing career.

Hey! You were before my time in CPM, but if I remember correctly we hung out at Otakon when like half of CPM showed up. That was you, yes? It'll be cool to actually RP with you!

And we both have Dragoon character concepts. Hello, internet doppleganger. I just really like to read. All kinds of books. I will admit I read more cyberpunk and historical fantasy than anything else, but I really take time to read the classics, and Moby Dick is absolutely one of my favorites. I especially like stories about the sea. Moby Dick, Treasure Island, Horatio Hornblower, etc. I grew up on and around the water, and always dreamed about sailing. Also, Megadeth is awesome. I saw them only once, back in 2004 with Exodus. That was an amazing show. "High Speed Dirt", in addition to being the unofficial song of the US Airborne, is the perfect fight song for Dragoons in my opinion.

Dogberry is absolutely one of my favorite Shakespearian characters. I've been wanting to use the name in something for a while. Xene: Limsa Lominsa is definitely our city. Clearly SE watches everything we do. Like when I made Reinbach and then FFXII comes out and has a crappy version of him as a protagonist. As much as I loved Reinbach and miss playing him, I just don't think I have it in me emotionally to play anything like that kid again.

Hey man! Thanks for the welcome, everyone!
