1. Spoiler Disclaimer Hi guys! So my main character is heavily into end game content. I'd like to discuss a few things I've been noticing lately. I'll try to be very clear what I'm discussing and if you don't want to know about it, just skip over that section. I'm basically just hyped lately about the void since it looks like we'll get more information about it next patch. So please! Contribute to the conversation however you can. Feel free to bring other void-related stuff up that's off topic too. T13 Phase 2 game mechanics. Minor storyline/cutscene spoilers (Naming boss). Minor mention of Pharos Sirius. Allied Beast Tribe Quests The quest recieved after reaching max rank in all beast tribe quests.
2. I think it'll be the same. Yes, she's the first Au Ra our character meets. That doesn't really mean she's the first person of her race to ever explore. But lets be honest, the only reason that is happening is because they hadn't invented the new race yet. But we meet adventurers from all over the world during our play through though. I think there are already Au Ra's in Eorzea who've moved there for all sorts of reasons, they just must be a bit rare at the moment and we happen not to come across any. Hell, maybe we have seen a few walk by and never noticed because they've got cloaks that make the men look like elves and the female look like miqo'tes. I never examine the cloaked people I'm running by when I gotta talk to vender for something quick. It makes zero sense to me to assume she's the FIRST ONE in history stepping foot in Eorzea. OOCLy lets be honest. Obviously, it would be a LOT of un-needed work for the programmers/designers of the game to make two whole intros depending on what race you choose. Personally, I'd much rather hope they put their efforts into adding in different content besides something most players won't be touching. Not many end-gamers would make a whole new character just to run through a different intro, if they did, it would just be to watch a cutscene or two and they'd probably then never touch the character again. TLDR: I think it's safe to assume there are some Au Ras scattered about who are just quiet about it. Maybe once we pass this storyline we'll just assume the characters who are Au Ras and played through are one of those few.
3. I'm sorry! My raid group has been kidnapping me everyday to make sure we downed T13 this week. We had to replace three people so we've had a lot of people we had to catch up! I'm on now and I'll probably be on hanging out tonight. Man I'll have to try to make set nights just to relax doing easy content/roleplaying on Null so I'm easier to catch. You'll hate me for this one. Turns out I won't be on tonight. My ethernet cable was taken yesterday, and my PS3 keeps disconnecting me every two minutes. Can't stay signed into the game. Got kicked off earlier today and haven't been able to sign on since, I'm sitting here now trying to get it to load past the start menu and it's just not happening. I'll make sure to buy a new chord before raid tomorrow. I'll make an effort to check in and try to get a hold of you in game this week.

5. Evil characters are evil. A good evil character is someone you can relate to, and after speaking to, would understand their side of the story. Something that has stuck for me for ages has been a man I met in high school who counseled kids that did drugs. He said something to me along the lines of: "The absolute worst I deal with are really smart kids. After speaking to someone who is really intelligent they explain themselves so well and have such logical reasoning that by the time they leave they'll have YOU considering doing them. It's so hard to sit there trying not to take their side when they give such mature responses that make you want to agree with them." I think that basically sums up how majority of people feel about villain characters. While yes, we all agree that 'There is no good and evil just love and hate', you should know what I am referring to when I'm asking to outreach to "evil" characters who are involved with illegal activities and have twisted morals. No reason for you to bash the people posting here.
6. List Of Character Involved With The Illegal World Please quote me with a new little blurb if you dislike the one I have written for you! Aaron Frostheart Illegal weapon's trade. Franz Renatus Garlean in hiding. Perfect person to blackmail. Edgar Gandervalt Edgar is someone who believes everyone has good in them, even the shady characters. Sadly, this happens to be a trait that can cause him a lot of grief and get him caught up in bad situations. V'lanya Mei Research into aether manipulation caused her to be void touched. This makes it impossible for her to fight the urge to drain aether from those around her. She is considered a hand-for-hire as well. Doendraga Barabahrsyn He is an independant captain, hand-for-hire, and smuggler. He travels where the coin does. Nako'li Chalahko Perfect man to move stolen goods, and he sells information if the price is good enough. C'kayah Tia While he used to be a thief (and still can be, on the rare occasion), he's got his own import/export front which is a legitimate business. His aim is to gain power and can still be driven to do illegal things. Ciel Wulfe Being physically ill, he feels he owes everything he is to the person who saved him. Fearful of abandonment, he devotes himself to his master. He has tortured, murdered, and finds himself to enjoy inflicting or receiving pain. Jana Ridah She is a person with questionable morals who used to be a hand-for-hire,
7. So I'd like to start making some connections with you evil people. Although in order to do that I need to know what sort of illegal stuff is going on (Especially in the Ul'dah area). So in order to make new connections lets bring an evil thread where we can talk about what your character does and who they work with! Personally, here are some things I'm hoping to find: I l l e g a l A l c h e m i s t s Do you guys think some of the potions would be illegal? Is it lore appropriate to also have drug-type potions that sell for lots, ruin lives, and make tons of money? While I understand there being potions to help people when they cross enemies, lets be honest. Will an adventurer rip out a sleeping potion and try to spoon feed it to an enemy when they're ambushed? When they're being stabbed at are they seriously going to try and slowly poison their attacker to death? I think it would be much more likely for people to be sleeping a pretty girl at the bar, or poisoning someone quietly as a way to murder without getting caught. And if these potions 1OO% are legal, do you think most places would sell some of the dangerous, questionable potions that are obviously more likely to be used in order to break laws and bring harm to people? And if it is illegal/hard to get your hands on dangerous potions. DOES YOUR CHARACTER SELL ANY? I NEED MY FIX. B l a c k M a g e s In the story quest, the BLM we meet is studying up with books and having a really difficult time making progress until he meets the three beast tribesmen who join him in his journey where his inching turns to leaps and bounds. Is your character a black mage? Are they interested in becoming a black mage? Are they currently doing bad black mage stuff or have any desire to be messing with the void for any reason? Is there already some secret black mage cult-like deal that I dunno about yet? Lets play with the void, bruh. H a n d F o r H i r e Are you a generic mercenary/thug/street rat who'd basically do anything for a buck? Are you a badass who will only murder people? Or if I offered you a few thousand gil to clean my house would you be all over that? I basically like hearing if hand-for-hire type characters have a line the draw when they're given jobs. I'd also like to hear where you typically get your work from. Is there a group somewhere people can put in requests? Do you put up posters? Do you walk around begging people to do anything for a meal? How would I know you're for hire ICly? B u s s i n e s s M e n Do you sell something bad? Perhaps illegal potions. Perhaps you're in the slaver business. Perhaps you're shipping over weapons from The Garlean Empre. Perhaps you ship stolen goods. Blah blah blah. I wanna know what type of underground businesses we might have ICly by played characters. G r a y A r e a Is your character being blackmailed into doing things they don't want to? Would they make a good eternal slave if I threatened to kill everyone they loved? Oh sorry I'm getting ahead of myself aren't I? No but seriously. I love blackmailing people into doing dark things they wouldn't normally. If you're interested in a situation like that then come at me, bro. If you are already in a situation like that, what are the specifics and how did it start? O t h e r Oh sweet! You're something that I couldn't think of off the top of my head? TELL ME ALL ABOUT IT PLS I WANT TO PLOT WITH YOU TOO.
8. Sounds good! I just signed on and see you're not on yet. I should be around for a bit though.
9. GET AWAY FROM HIM YOU FILTHY PIRATE. I sorta wanna make Null hate Kurt's guts off the bat and try to be his rival enemy... But he's not really much of a threat, or enemy for that matter. He'll be really bad at shoving he hates someone. Lol. Maybe he'll give mixed signals. *Grabs Kurt's hand because he likes human contact and is socially awkward as hell, but then also glares at him* Regardless. You have fun dealing with that train wreck, Kurt.
10. Lololol. If someone hands him an axe he'll like... Grab it by the heavy side and throw it thinking it acts like a boomerang or something stupid. Null: "AHHH BAD STUFF. I'LL SAVE US. HUUUMF!" *throws axe, and it drops a few feet away* Null: "... Yay. Fighting."
11. Definitely! I'll need lots of good guys to be helping Null and his friends from being sacrificed or killed in the future once shit starts to get real.
12. I actually feel like I know all that stuff after hearing you say it. Makes sense that they weren't advancing so deep into Eorzea at the beginning. Dunno why I forgot about that part. I'm gonna just focus on trying to get my hands on some research about what was going on 3O years ago in Eorzea. Sounds like he's even too old to have dealt with much of the Garlean threat. If you have any timelines or resources laying around I'd appreciate any links! I'm also going to have to look up the details on white mage and see why people would have problems with someone even knowing that job ICly. I thought if I had him traveling and meeting people from all over the world, it would be plausible he met white mages, and due to the dire circumstances (I figured war is a good reason for people to accept things that would normally be considered illegal or banned to help them) people got some very good use out of it while they were in these difficult situations. I'll have to see if I can place him at any events during his prime where it would make sense for him to run into them. I'll definitely have to change things around if I can't find events that makes sense for his reasonings.
13. This post is exactly what I'm looking for! Thank you! Very knowledgeable stuff! He's a 5O-6O year old guy now, so it's hard to sum up his life in one short paragraph. I'll go a bit more into detail with what I have so far. The mage's family was originally from Gridania. His father liked to plan yearly trips because he thought having knowledge about the world was important. His childhood was full of fond memories getting to see the world and he was taught to embrace and respect other people's cultures. I haven't been able to research too deeply yet into what was happening before patch 1.O, but I know the Garlean Empire was moving in on Eorzea up until the first primal was summoned (which was a little less that 2O years ago from my understanding). The mage is too old to have been involved with the Carteneau Flats 5 years ago, but I have been assuming he would've been involved with the fights over 2O years ago back before the Empire pulled out and stopped fighting Eorzea. I've been assuming I can say when he was traveling with different soldiers and meeting all sorts of people from different lands, he went from your average healer, to meeting some people who taught him the craft of being a real white mage. He would've had all his years protecting his homelands to master the discipline. I felt as though white magic would've been important for him to learn asides from the average CNJ for two reasons that I feel would help with his character development as a whole. 1) He would've learned all the beautiful uses a banned magic had. He would've seen it's good put to use so that concept would be very dear to his heart that not all laws and rules are right. It would've opened his mind to decide himself what's good or bad and to make his own opinions. 2) White Mages need to pull their magic from nature, just like black mages need to pull their magic from the void. I want him to feel as though he's already able to relate to the discipline like a fool and lull himself into a false sense of security which makes him so eager to try and find the good in the new form of magic. I want the concept to seem familiar which makes him very attracted to it. When it's finally time for him to settle down with his wife (He's around 3O at this time), he returns to his family who is now in Ul'dah, his father opened up his business while he was gone for so many years. Ul'dah is the 'city of oppertunity' where the 'streets are paved with gold' and all. I figured it's the ideal place where someone would want to open up a business. He helps his father's business expand, his wife gets pregnant. Everything is getting in place and all. It's then when he meets that black mage who was messing with the void trying to resurrect loved ones. After being able to have a long conversation with the mage and relate to the man on a personal level, that seed is planted in his head. I figured at first he'd always be trying to pick up rumors, read texts, and gather any knowledge people have on the style but ultimately have a very difficult time getting the facts on black mages. After this continues for another 5 years or so, he finally has a breakthrough and I'd like him to meet with someone working in the black market, or an actual person who practices the art where he finally comes in contact with a soul stone. Soul stones in this game contain the memories/teachings of the previous owners. I want this to be the very first piece of the puzzle he has, it giving him the ability to pick up on some of the skills much faster than a person learning from scratch. That is where he makes his mistake of trying to use what little hints he's learned from the rumors/soul stone/asking around in the cirminal world of Ul'dah. That is where his family up and leaves immediately. He doesn't even get a warning. The first time he attempts to do anything as a black mage is the second he loses his wife and kids. That is where he sort of falls into a depression and a dark place. He finds his peace in researching more and more about black magic, now feeling a bit determined to have a reason for losing everything he had in his life. He feels like it all has to be for something, which is where he starts to cloud on where his morals stand. He's now got something to prove instead of his pure intentions that fueled his curiosity. It's personal now. It's over these next 2O years or so, which bring us to current day. He's got 2O years to hunt down black mages, talk to criminals, start squeezing himself into the illegal scene and building up his presence. I really like to believe having so much time to focus on a second job makes it possible for this character to be able to be involved with both. I also thought it would make for fun discussion as to the effects it has on him. Black mages need to be interacting with the void, and you said in your post that WHMs were denied by the elements in a fit of rage. Does this mean that as he gets more involved with the void and black magic that his white mage abilities would start backfiring on him? Would the black mage style mess with his healing abilities and he'd begin pulling energy from bad places? Would he be hurting himself or others when if he tries to heal now? Maybe anytime he went outside tree branches would be falling on his head. Or he'd have to straight up stay away from nature because it's he's so unbalanced and he has the rage of Greenwrath directed at him (I actually dunno if any nature outside of Gridania would be able to be influenced). You know? I was hoping people would get into discussions about how the two would clash if someone tried to learn both jobs. I'm a little upset everyone keeps saying it's an idea that should be avoided because it really sounded interesting and fun to me. UGH I TYPED WAY TOO MUCH. SORRY SORRY.
14. Ahh! You have so many characters. If you're ever online and see me on feel free to add me on any of them. I'd love for Null to run into any of them! X'unmei and him could definitely face-plant into some stupid trouble together. As for the darker side of plots, we'll definitely have to talk more. I'll have to make a new thread in the near future dedicated strictly to Ul'dah's underground to see what illegal businesses and criminals we have running around. He'll be getting very active in that side of things soon and I'll try to be bringing together lots of bad guys fo' sho'.
15. Alright hi. First off, no my IC isn't a master of all those that's just a catchy title. This is also the first of MANY questions I'm going to have as I'm doing research on the evil mage I'm working on so get ready to see me around a lot. Lets have some fun debates. P a r t 1 Question 1: Can a character master multiple magical classes and jobs in the game ICly when they all focus on different elements/effects/beliefs? Question 2: Does your character use magic? Have they ever dabbled in another type of magic (not including the class for the job's magic since they go hand-in-hand)? OOCly, your character can master any job you want. Which means one instance I can be a WHM. Then I can be a BLM. Then I can be a SMN. ICly though, do you think this makes sense? Can someone who goes through the training of becoming a CNJ/WHM turn around and then be messing with the void things as a BLM? This is the main gist and I want to hear what you guys think about having characters who practice multiple types of magic. P a r t 2 For this part, I'd just like to discuss the character I'm working on and seeing if you guys see any problems or have interesting things to add. Feel free to skip this part if you want. So a man has been a healer for many years in battles blah blah blah. When it's finally time for him to settle down with his wife, he returns to Ul'dah where he's welcomed by his parents, his father turns his business to him, he sort of becomes a popular rich guy who's just straight up likable in every aspect of his life. You know how it is. Because of his status he gets a bit involved when a blackmage is on trial for messing with the void, and he asks if he can talk to the mage before he's locked up by the authorities. He goes in with the mindset of: "This terrible person had better have a reason for the sins he's committed." Although upon talking to the blackmage, he leaves feeling like he can relate to that man more than anyone he's ever spoken to before. The blackmage simply was looking to resurrect a loved one. They had the most pure intentions just wanting someone they hold dear to return to them. He's been around tons of battles and had the guilt of being unable to save people too. "Hell, unlike Conjury, White Magic doesn't even need permission to draw that energy, you just take, the reason why it brought an Umbral Era to begin with." - source I love that sentence because from there I'd love him to be completely torn. Yes, black magic is terrible, but on the other hand. What if it's been handled wrong all these years? What if it's just a misunderstood art like white magic can be when it brings harm? That's where his research begins. He sells off his business to settle down in a wealthy lifestyle so he can focus in on his passion for solving the riddle. And then this is where I get stuck. Question: As he focuses more on black magic and begins to get corrupted, do you think that his white mage abilities should begin to dwindle? Or do you think that once you master the white mage class, you will always be a skilled healer for the rest of your life? With a character I would now consider a black mage, I feel like it would be cheap for him to also turn around and be some skilled healer. So give me input and opinions and fun facts about the magic classes. Anything would be awesome and helpful.
16. T13 Spoilers Thread made me look through my screenshots. Found this one from my main account. My raid group is taking a break for a few weeks and I miss them. So I figured I'd use this thread as an excuse to make this stupid PS3 screenshot try to look good.
17. I want him to learn a few lessons the hard way. He'll definitely have to get his head knocked in a couple times before he understands that girls aren't what he's been brainwashed to believe they are. So no need to feel bad! He'll totally be asking for it.
18. P a r t I The first void he ever met. The tail that got destroyed. He was torn awake as a hand grabbed his collar and threw him to the ground, and it was roughly. It was not the morning schedule he was used to. He was drowsy and out of it, unsure what was happening. Often Papa would have weird episodes at night. It wasn't a common occurrence but Null was never too panicked when they happened. When he looked down at his collar, he realized the torn cloth. Hands didn't rip him out of bed... Claws did. Null sat up, his hands pushing him from the ground. “PAPA! PAPA!” He screamed loudly, tearing his body backwards trying to hide underneath his bed. The creature grabbed a hold of his leg, then clawed for the midsection of his body where it could properly dig out a chunk of Null’s young petite flesh. The claw missed his stomach area as Null let out a panicked jolt, and instead he felt a sharp pain shoot through his spine. He looked down to see the creature clawing at his tail, shredding fur from the skin it was connected to. Null let out another loud shriek and felt a heat as a wave of flames crashed over the monster, forcing it to quickly dive backwards as it payed attention to the new threat. “Do not touch my belongings, you stupid beast. You’d rather be destroyed than serve me!? After all I’ve promised you!? You ungrateful fool!” Null covered his face in a fit of tears. He could hardly comprehend anything as spells and shrieks were bouncing off the room’s walls. All he could do was try to hide underneath the bed which was his little safe spot. It went so quiet that Null could hear nothing but his muffled crying. It wasn’t until he heard the footsteps coming towards him. Papa was alright. He was standing just a few feet from the bed. Null quickly pulled himself out from under the bed and he quickly got up. “Ooa — Papa.” Null muttered gripping on tightly to the man’s sleeve. “Hu-urts.” His head quickly dropped staring at the blood trailing below his bare feet on the cold tile. “M-my-” “Sh.” The mage whispered, gently placing a finger on the boy’s lips. “I do not want to hear you whine.” He pulled his arm in front of the boy’s blue orbs, gently wiping his tears.“The aether in my house is disrupted — corrupted — ruined.” His fingers wrapped around Null’s chin, delicately holding his jaw securely. “Why?” The mage’s eyes gleamed with a hint of insanity, a look that Null didn’t know. He was never given enough interaction to understand that this was all wrong. He didn’t have the capacity to understand Papa was crazy. “Why have you done this to me, darling?” The mage asking gripping tighter on the boy’s jaw. Null’s watery eyes widened as the fear went deeper into the pit of his stomach. “I-I don’t kno-ow what!” Null’s tone sounded more like begging than an explanation. “I didn’t do no-othing.” He shut his eyes tightly tried to suck in the snot that tried to escape his nose. “No-othing I didn’t do-o no-othing!” “Do you not want Papa to make you perfect, love?” The man asked, his nails now digging against Null’s skin. “N-no! I’m tr-rying!” Null promised, feeling a sincere anger at himself for doing something wrong… Even if he wasn’t quite sure just what he did. Papa was always right, though. Null knew not to question him because he didn’t understand the first thing about magic. “Sh, sh. Darling. You’re sorry, aren’t you?” “Ye-es!” The small boy cried out loudly, his fingers tightly clenching down on the mage’s shirt. The man put one of his hands on the back of Null’s head, pressing the boy’s face against his stomach. “I’m going to show you just how sorry you are.” He spoke slowly, the hand on the boy’s back slowly dropping until it was gently holding Null’s tail, the end part of it still mangled, but not beyond repair. Had the mage plans on bringing Null to a healer, there was hope in it recovering back to normal. Papa didn’t have plans on bringing the boy to a healer though. He didn’t like people knowing about the miqo’te he bought years ago. Null was his private belonging. “I’m going to scathe you.” He whispered, his grip tightening on the boy’s tail as a large portion was magically torn from it’s flesh. Null let out a loud shriek as he tried to rip himself away from the man. He stumbled backwards falling as he lost his balance. His fingers quickly dropped to his bottom where he held the short tail, blood staining the fur near the end. “W-W-W-WAH.” His head dropped down as he began to cry hysterically. He lost it. “Alright love. With this I can fix everything you ruined tonight. Everything will be all better when you wake tomorrow. Sh sh. Good boy. Now quiet, darling.” He wrapped his arms around Null (a portion of the boy’s tail still in his hand), hugging the boy as he cried against Papa’s chest. The mage quietly stroked Null’s hair. “One day, we will tame voidsent beasts properly in the way I wish. Do you know what I will do with you once I master the first step?” He rocked his miqo’te back and forth, swaying his body as Null hardly heard a word the man had to say. "I will re-build you from the void's fabrics." It was hard to listen when your tail has just been destroyed. “And then, love, then you will be perfect to me.” He slowly began to lead the crying boy back to the bed. “Don’t worry darling, I will make you perfect.”
19. Thank you! I try to make sure my characters will be interesting in the long run and add complex plots in. Haha. Lili can definitely save his arse a few times if you want to pass by him getting into tons of trouble. Xelra should be trying to focus on something or gather up said information you said she likes to do, and Null comes stomping in and totally makes her lose focus and accomplish nothing. He's good at ruining things. And Null would freak if someone ran up and gave him a cookie. Omg. That sounds like the best day ever. D: Wantwantwantwant.
20. N u l l ' s M e m o r i e s This thread is dedicated to some of Null's memories for any stalkers who are interested in learning more about him, or the mage he is connected to. Some posts might be slightly violent so if you are unable to handle much violence now would be the time to turn away now.
21. Pls. I want all the prickly mages. Seriously. The more the merrier. Friend me if you're ever on! I really want Null to piss off a lot of mages since he's always spewing stupid stuff about his 'Papa' thinking magic works in ways it doesn't. He'll always be talking nonsense to them so anyone who doesn't appreciate idiots will certainly hate listening to his rants. He also has sorta been told by the mage that owns him lots of lies about women. He doesn't really believe they can be real mages and he's been told they're all weak and helpless. So lol when he gets proved wrong about that type of stuff. *Elbow nudge*
22. OMG I FAIL AT QUOTING. I CAN'T FIGURE THIS OUT. *Throws laptop off a cliff* @ Lillini & Salinas Lol! I'll have Null do something incredibly stupid like think that all the food that he sees is free. So he'll take something to eat off someone's plate/merch stand and have his arm about to be cut off for stealing from them. If there is ONE THING you don't fuck with, it's someone else's food. This'll be fun.
