  1. Since demons will be their motifs then perhaps names will be based on demons? The Raen will have Japanese demon names, Xaela will be western demon names?
  2. Glad this post was revived! I was planning on making a post regarding Auri physiology. 1. Their horns somehow allow them to hear 2. The size difference between sexes are very noticeable 3. The ancestors of the Au Ra seems to be have been tribal nomads prone to conflict with one another. While the Xaela continue the lifestyle of their ancestors, the Raen moved away from that to live a more peaceful life. So it can be assumed that the Raen are are more modern offshoot, whereas Xaela are closer to the ancestral Au Ra 4. Raen seem to have a closer relationship with the Domans, as such their names reflect this (Archaic Japanese?) Based on an "evolution" standpoint, Au Ra having scales make sense due to the constant fighting amongst the tribe. The scales help protect them, especially around the neck. The description of the horns make it seem like their hearing and sense of balance is superior to the other races, but that's just my opinion. What what really stumps me (and other people) is the height difference between the sexes. If the ancient Au Ra were hunter-gatherers with alot of inter-tribal war fare then I assume that females stayed close to the tribe, while the men did all the fighting and hunting? Eventually males adapted to being taller and with more pronounced scales, while females grew shorter as to not need as much food since they didn't fight or actively hunt? Anyways, that's just my speculation
  3. I think the further you go from gridania city the worse the descrimination is against keepers. As well as more poaching going on which adds fuel to their hatred. I certainly do not recommend wandering the shroud without a chappererone.
  4. I am browned skin IRL. My 1st character has the same shade as me (infect I made him look as much as myself as possible). Then I decided to make him really pale with light eyes but that hurt my eyes if was in the open world. Now the skin color is somewhere in between. A nice darkish tan. I'm currently roleplaying as a Ala Mhigan refugee and it seems like most refugees have the same skin color that I'm currently using. Though my character was a shade darker, but not willing to spend $10 just for that
  5. I am currently leveling an alt and I am now at the point where you're called into Waking Sands for the 1st time. While chatting with other npcs I ran across Arenvald, as Ala Mhigan. He also has the echo (had that dream with Hydaelyn) and he and his companions refer to himself as a Garlean half-breed It's very vague, but it seems like his father was a pure-blooded Garlean and may not have been a mere soldier from a conquered nation. It's also emphasized that he's a half-breed. We know mixed race children are possible and are highly frowned upon. And based on his story, he was frowned upon as a child and his mother eventually abandoned him. From what little we know of pure-blooded Garleans, their males pretty much look like highlanders are typically blond and they have a "3rd eye". Due to his hair style it's not known if he has that 3rd eye, and it doesn't help that most Highlanders originate from Ala Mhigo as well. A shame he doesn't have a role in the plot, his story is very interesting and tragic.
  6. It's certainly possible. Ishgard exhisted for 1000 years and unlike Gridania should have at least a neutral relationship with whatever tribes are around. While nothing is set in stone yet, you briefly see a miqo'te male in Ishagard-Foundation section in what looks like a machinist AF gear. @ :50Y0jb2UpF8G0

    On Age

I think some one and their FC in Gilgamesh got into big trouble due to erping with a minor
  8. I think finding a White Mage soul stone -- either in an Amdapori ruin or sheer luck kinda like the SCH quest. I think helping a scholar who happens to beworking on Amdapori history is most likely for a "regular" adventurer on a bodyguard quest. Though even if you do get a white mage soul crystal how will one learn without a teacher? Unless the soul crystal has been attuned to you going to the CNJ guildmaster might end up with him taking it from your possession. The closest thing I can think of is working with a amdapori historians to extrapolate as much knowledge of WHM and CNJ and try to replicate it. But who knows the consequences of such actions. Such experiments must be away from Gridania that's for sure
  9. In regards to glamours there are plenty in-game lore that explains it. However, I think things like glamour prisms will be out of reach for the common Eorzean due to their expense: Need to have a master crafter to make glamour prism. As for glamouring into another person? It's possible but the knowledge is limited to a few people and the effects can also be dispelled easily.
