  1. When you ruin a great friendship with someone because you cant be honest with yourself. Then you end up regretting it for months while still checking up on them periodically to make sure they are doing alright. When deleting a fully developed character with multiple classes and jobs at 60 hurts so much less than the thought of what happened, you sort of just wallow in the stupidity.
  2. Great group of friendly people. If you are in need of an FC or a group of people who love RP, come ring out doorbell!
  3. Just send one of the leaders a whisper in game and we will try to get you in! H&G is best LS \o/
  4. Mel is warm and friendly, its a shame she doesn't see herself in a brighter light more often. She has a ton to offer when it comes to both RP and friendship and hopefully more people will come to find that out.
  5. Vetiver really knows how to make an interesting character. RP with her is never dull and she kinda pulls you in, making you want to know more and more about who she is.
  6. I think thats a great idea. Anyone feel like sharing or even telling about a change your character has gone through that came about through RP?
  7. So in my professional life I work closely with publishers and authors. 90% of my job is reading unpublished manuscripts and novels. So having said that I just want to throw out a huge kudos to the people who RP within FFXIV. I keep running into people that play characters that are so well developed and compelling that it sort of feels like a disservice to everyone that these people are unknown to most. For example, when I first created T'caska she was a wild little Miqo'te that was was afraid of Ul'dah and bugs. Now she is Protector that is plagued by a constant fight with the darkness within her and she just saved her wife from the clutches of a demon. She used to be timid, scared, and weak. Now she is strong and assertive and all the changes she went through came directly from RP with people in this community. I'm not tooting my own horn, in fact I'm not really all that creative and imaginative, my story is becoming epic (in my eyes) because of the people I've had the privilege of RPing with. So for just a moment put aside everything else and take pride in you and your character. Forget about the cliques, the popular, the RP starved, and the strange. You are one of the greatest untold stories. I know I could have posted this in the Kudos thread but there seem to be a lot of people recently that are unhappy with their current RP situation so hopefully they can take some comfort in knowing that they aren't invisible, at least not to those they've touched.
  8. Big thank you to Nebbs for doing such as awesome job with this LS. I've been in a few of the larger LS's that advertise themselves as catering to the RP environment and helping to facilitate connections, and while they all seem to have good intentions, Hugs & Cake seems to be the only one I've seen that hasn't degraded into another clique or rant/vent LS. I might be a little biased because I'm married to Nebbs in game, but this LS really is great and we have some great people to play with. So thank you Nebbs and thank you to the people who help this LS stay awesome.
  9. Its never too early to start RPing in this game. What server are you on? If its Balmung then kudos for being able to make the character, our server has been hard to get into lately. When it comes to knowing lore I would suggest playing through a lot of the Main Story Quest (MSQ) and your class quests to get an idea of how Eorzea works. Most people are fine with a little lore bending but you just make sure you look out for breaking points, as with any RP setting. 9 times out of 10, its whether or not you can play your character as believable rather than having a believable back-story. Don't worry about being new, jumping into the fray is a great way to learn and improve. And don't worry about playing the opposite gender as the general consensus seems to be that "character matters, player gender doesn't". Having said that though, if you are an 89 year old woman, RPing as a 22 year old jersey shore type guy may not be easy for you. Play to your strengths and RP what you like. Thats what I do.
  10. I posted in the other thread but I'll say it here too because I love you guys. Being gay myself, I wanted to give a thank you to those within the RP community who supported this and still do. To those that don't support it, I respect you and love you anyway. Cheers everyone, have a great day.
  11. I just wanna pop my head in here real quick to give a congratulations. Its not my bag to talk politics with anyone as for the most part I don't understand it and as aside from a few issues, I could kinda care less about the American government. But being gay myself, I wanted to give a thank you to those within the RP community who supported this and still do. To those that don't support it, I respect you and love you anyway. Cheers everyone, have a great day.
  12. Here are just a few pictures from the ceremony. Thank you to everyone that came out, we really appreciate it. There will also be a video and better screenshots but i wanted to share a few real quick.
