balmung [Balmung] Looking for friends/connections
Larswith Medwyn replied to Larswith Medwyn's topic in Chronicled Connections
I'm still always looking for more connections for roleplay mates! Keep on tossing those discord invites my way and we'll see what we can make happen! -
Hey folks. Looking for an FC didn't work, so I though I'd start poking around for friends and new connections while I work on seeing about building my own RP FC/LS. So allow me to toss out information about my main character so hopefully someone shall take an interest in getting to know her! Tori Nebuko was born Larswith Medwyn, a daughter of a boat maker and a mother who ran a floral shop. Her parents used money they earned to get her tutors in the hopes that she would one day get a good job as an accountant to have a bit better of a life than they had. However, Larswith's mother fell ill when the girl was fourteen and died from pneumonia. Her father turned to drinking and gambling and eventually sold off his daughter to cover his debts. Larswith then found herself owned by a sadistic Lalafel who ran an organized crime syndicate within a bar-front. The owner's wife took a particularly liking to Larswith though and rather than simply torture the girl and make her life even further miserable, she took her under her wing. Larswith was trained by the woman to eat better, train harder, and believe in herself. The bond grew strong enough that she was eventually adopted by the woman before she left her Lalafel wife. Larswith's new mother was a Keeper who followed her people's ways quite heavily but believed in unifying Seekers and Keepers as one people. As Larswith learned more and more of the culture, she begged to learn more and was placed in the care of the shaman of the clan her adoptive mother belonged to. There she learned far more about the culture and the worship of Menphina and eventually trained to be one herself, taking the name Tori Nebuko for her own. Now, with the skills trained into her by her former owner, her adoptive mother, and the various shamans that eventually helped educate her, Tori lives a relatively simple life seeking friends, family, good food, and the maintaining of a warm and comfortable respite from the road. She works as a sell-sword, taking whatever jobs suit her to help maintain her coffers. That was, albiet a rather brief, history of Tori Nebuko. She is a oftentimes brash, playful, flirtatious, and strangely wise(when she wants to be) woman. If you have any characters that you'd like to have meet her whether as a friend, foe, or a potential employer or target, do feel free to reach out to me. Discord: Dryce#0337

I'd certainly be down for giving a go with your Balmung character. My toon Tori Nebuko is a dark-skinned hyur who was sold to a woman who ran an organized crime group out of a bar front. Without giving story away, she's moved on and is a very different person these ways with a strong seating within Keeper culture and clan shamanism. Her morally grey self would do very well with having someone else around who is all about flirtation and wise-cracks. It'd compliment Tori nicely and I could see them being good friends. Either hit me up in-game if I'm on or poke me here or discord: Dryce#0337

[Balmung] Thinking of returning. LF FC
Larswith Medwyn replied to Larswith Medwyn's topic in Chronicled Connections
Well, I've resubbed for better or worse. I owed someone some roleplay and took the dive. I'm still totally open to guilds and might make a more detailed write-up at some point for the character that needs a home. But first and foremost, I just want something active. Something where people actually want to socialize and RP together. Not something where people only come together for an event. If you have something like that, please let me know or talk to me about it! Discord: Dryce#0337 -
[Balmung] Thinking of returning. LF FC

Thank you so much! Some of what you said there is more or less why I stepped away from the game in the first place. I helped found one of the biggest and oldest FCs on the server and overtime it went from RP every single day without fail to eventually falling into the rut where people only roleplayed at events. I left there and did a couple other ventures with friends that started off lively but without new blood slowly withered. Then I joined a FC that again gave me that daily churn that was absolutely brilliant until drama broke the whole thing apart and the leader shut down the FC. Ever since I've been poking about trying to find something else, but so much seems so very lifeless now. I'm sure there HAS to be FCs that are very active with routine roleplay(again, I'm not saying it has to be every single day, but I would like to think that RP can be found more days of than week than not). I just haven't had much luck finding them. However, since I have yet to find another game I enjoy roleplaying in these days I'll probably end up back in FFXIV again one way or another. I just hope I can land somewhere that's as dedicated as I am to storytelling. ^.^ -

Thank you for the response! I know the game is in a bit of a lull content wise with nothing amazing on the horizon and other stuff releasing now. And if RP is happening in houses and all I'm totally fine with that so long as it's consistent. Hopefully someone will see this and be able to point me the right way to something that supplies high activity. -
Hey folks. I've tried reaching out for connections on here before to no avail. I figure I'll give it one last go. I love the FFXIV world and have been roleplaying for over two decades. I really really REALLY want to find a good home that has active roleplay. Most FCs that I've joined barely roleplay outside of an event every couple weeks and I miss what I used to have. Years ago I was in several FCs that were active every day. Where I could log in and 5 out of 7 days of the week there was guaranteed roleplay. Does this still exist anywhere? Are their FCs that actually have a daily churn of roleplay? Is their an FC out there that would like to add someone super dedicated into roleplay into their fold? I've played good guys, I've played villains. I've played morally grey criminals. I've played clan/tribe-centric characters. At this point I'm pretty willing to find a character that will fit so long as there is a constant roleplay churn that leads to good collaborative story telling and character growth. Is there a reason for me to come back out there? Any suggestions, advice, or discussion would be very welcome. Thank you.

Hey folks! In the market for a place to call home again. I'm on Balmung and need an active FC/linkshell where I can really dig in. Looking for something where RP every day wouldn't be out of the question. The character I have in mind is heavily interested in Keeper Clan ideals and beliefs, but it isn't a must. Otherwise, she would fit most cleanly with a dark/criminal element or mercenary. Definitely enjoy the most dark, gritty, realistic RP I can get. Anyone have a couple ideas for where I can start looking? Most of the FC's on the directory that look like they might do the job appear to be inactive. Edit: Don't know what happened to my thread title, but fixed now!

I cannot possibly endorse this enough!

Have you ever wanted a full hand-drawn, painted, or 3D model of a particular piece of jewelry that your character possesses? Now might just be your chance. A graduate gemologist is offering her services to the roleplay community so that you can finally have a true representation of that unique family heirloom, wonderful invention, or outstanding keepsake! Not only that, but the pieces would be made to realistic specifications and regardless of whether you have a hand-rendering or 3D model made, you can take those plans directly to a jeweler to see about getting it made into a piece for you to actually wear! But these designs don't have to just be for the game. Ever had a particular idea for a piece of jewelry, but could never find anything like it? Need something made for a special occasion or gift? How about getting the perfect ring for a proposal or wedding? Your average designer doesn't have the geeks and gamers in mind but we've got you covered! Since our artist is a genuine gemologist working in New York City, she can design pieces to fit any need you might have! So how does this all work? Well first, let's talk about our artist: Elisabeth Braunfeld of Red String Designs. Elisabeth is a graduate gemologist with certifications in gemology, diamonds, colored stones, CAD/CAM, and jewelry design. This means that she has been trained and certified to not only know exactly how to be make use of precious stones, but that she knows how to hand-paint and 3D model jewelry to a customer's specifications. Samples of her work can be viewed at: www.redstringdesigns.com or at one of her shops: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/missing-creations or https://www.etsy.com/shop/RedStringDesign Interested? Great! Elisabeth is willing to take up to a certain amount of commissions at any given time and will work with you to make sure you get exactly what you are looking for. The process will start with you, first, sending a message to us so that we can start discussing your general design and the best way to bring it life. From there, we'll have a conversation so that we can better understand exactly what it is you want. We can talk styles, particular metals, stones, designs, and everything in-between. We would also discuss pricing and what it is you wish to get in return (i.e. a hand-drawn image, a painted rendering, or a 3D model.) Once everything is settled, Elisabeth will get sketch up some quick drafts for you to choose between. Once you settle one that works best for you she'll get to work making a full design of your piece. Even if it's not exactly what you envisioned the first time we can rework the final design up to five times for free just to make sure that the design is exactly what you're looking for. Alright, let's cut to the chase! Pricing ( NOTE: To kick things off, the first five commissions will be 50% off! So only $50 each for a 3D rendering or Hand-rendering. Additional reworks and painted pieces are normal prices.) Commissions slots currently open: 5 open at 50% off $100.00 - 3D Rendered design wih up to 5 free reworks: Your piece will be crafted into a 3D model. Pictures will be taken so that you can post them as representations of your character's jewerly. You will also receive the actual file of the 3D rendering that can be given to a real-life jeweler in order to have the piece made. All 3D renderings are crafted to realistic proportions. (note: more organic designs (flowers, people, animals, etc don't always work as well in CAD, if you think your design falls into this category shoot us a message and we can discuss it with you further.) $100.00 - Hand rendered, also with up to 5 free reworks: You piece will be carefully drafted onto vellum with pencil to give you an accurate and life-sized representation of the jewelry as you wish it. These drawings can be given to a jeweler so that they may use it as reference in order to craft the jewerly in the real world. Each hand rendering will come with free standard domestic(U.S) shipping. International shipping fees will apply. Add-ons: $50 Fully painted rendering of your piece: If you would like either the 3D or hand rendered piece you have made to also be hand-painted, all you need to is ask. For an additional small fee, our artist will paint your piece to your specifications, giving you a piece of art that display. Each hand-painted rendering will come with free standard domestic(U.S) shipping. International shipping fees will apply. $25 Each additional rework in CAD or with hand rendering: Need a few extra modifications to make sure your piece comes out just right? Changed your mind and want something changed with your piece? Rather than starting anew and crafting once more from scratch, for a much smaller fee we can make changes. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot over a PM or email us at Thanks so much, ~ Jess and Elisabeth Q: Can you turn this art into a real piece of jewelry for me? A: Not directly, no. However, with connections in the jewelry industry here in NYC, we can see about getting someone we trust to get an item made for you if that is what you want. At that point we'd have to discuss pricing separately from the other pricing above. If you want to take your art piece to a local jeweler instead, you can absolutely do that! These renderings are, what we call, mechanically accurate. This means they are drawn to a real life scale, and can be measured for production accordingly. Q: Why does it matter that the artist is a Gemologist? A: The main reason is because every gemstone has it's own unique properties. A diamond will cut right through a prong that's too thin and a tanzanite needs a more protective setting. You don't want to pay for an Oregon sunstone ring only to find out the hard way that the stone is too fragile for the wear and tear that your average ring experiences. Also, a gemologist can help you think of more cost effective solutions for your jewelry, should you want it made. There's no reason to shell out for a nice ruby when a garnet or a tourmaline would suit just as well for your purposes. Basically a Gemologist can help you by knowing the stones advising you in a way that lets you make the best decisions for what you want. Q: What would it cost to have the design I buy to be made into a real-world piece of jewelry? A: That depends entirely upon what sort of materials you want it made with (i.e plastic, steel, silver, gold, platinum, etc) as well as the jeweler you take it to. Elisabeth may be able to give you a general idea if she has the piece in front of her to look over, and if she can't we have friends in the industry who almost certainly can. Q: Does it cost anything to get a consultation? A: Absolutely not! Consultations are free! Q: How will payment work? A: Payments will be handled via paypal with 50% due up front. You will be shown samples of the work and final payment will be taken just before sending you the fully usable rendering. Payments can also be put up via an Etsy listing instead upon request.

((Hey folks! I've been RPing here in FFXIV since release, but have spent pretty much all of that time with one FC and I'm looking from a change, back towards my roots. What I'm looking for is a FC that focuses almost exclusively on roleplay. I long for the days where I can log in to the game and know almost certainly that I'm going to find someone to roleplay with and have my chance to not only show off my own character's background and depth, but to truly have the chance to learn others'. I browsed through the various RP guild listings here, but unfortunately nothing really seems to scream out what I'm looking for. So I figured, hell, might as well give this a shot and see if anyone has some ideas for me! Ideally, I'm looking for a criminal/underbelly sort of FC that isn't about being evil, but about being free. However, I'm also totally open on any group that would simply accept someone that isn't a slave to laws and rules, who is quite unorthodox in her ways. She isn't violent without cause or evil by any stretch(actually far from it), just different. She needs a home with people that care to know her. If you have any suggestions of where to look or simply want to engage in some RP, hit me up here or ingame! Thanks mates! I've also included a very, very brief write-up of Dryce's history.)) Dryce Pearlfinder Gender: Female Race: Miqo'te Origin: Streets of Ul'dah Age: Somewhere in her 40's Appearance: Looks to be in her late teens. Her skin is a dark blue hue that appears to be flawless to a point of absolute perfection that seems unnatural. Brief history: Dryce is the child of a prostitute and unknown male, born on the streets of Ul'dah. Her mother passed when she was too young to have a memory of the person that gave her life. Dryce had been born with a number of maladies that plagued her youth, among which the near lack of sight in one eye and a terminal lung disease that made it difficult for her to be active. She spent her entire youth as a street urchin, doing everything in her power to simply survive and thrive. Other the years she had fallen into a street gang for protection, though this too brought her a number of consequences. As she got older, she pushed herself harder and harder, doing whatever it took to continue clinging to life. She learned the essential talents of thievery, deception, and disguise. She learned how to obtain her needs and eventually, claim her wants from society itself. Later, she stumbled upon an academy that took her in, her own thirst for knowledge bringing her success within the halls. Later, she was brought into the fold of a relatively discrete organization that fought against the evils that lurked in the shadows of Eorzea. She trained herself relentlessly, trying to find a way to be useful to the organization but her dwindling health acted to hamper her efforts. During a lengthy struggle against a particular fiend bent on conquering the world for her own, Dryce was caught under the fiend's spell. Mind controlled and manipulated, the fiend worked hard towards turning Dryce against her friends and family that she had come to know. The fiend experimented on Dryce, altering her very physical characteristics while essentially curing her birth defects. Much later, after the fiend had been stopped and Dryce had been saved from her fall from grace, Dryce turned more bitter and shut herself off to much of the outside world. Over time, she has begun to find herself once more, but she still maintains her distance form others. She continues to push forward with her life, altered as it has been to simply seek a piece of something to call her own. A life free of the restraints that society has always seemed to hold over her. A free spirit, free of the law, but held firmly to her morals.
