Actually, that West Country accent of the maid in 3.2's storyline confused me. It's from a very specific part of England (Somerset / Cornwall). Usually has connotations and intentions when it's cast into a role. Depends on what you're trying to convey. Looking back at some cutscenes, it seems that this is the low-born commoners' accent by default, with Hilda and a few male speakers having something resembling it (nowhere near as strong). But most of them don't speak like this in dialogue. Not all of the commoners have voices like that either. It seems - I don't know - a bit displaced? Overall, the voice acting is of a decent quality though. I purposefully try to listen all the way through whenever script is voiced, despite being a fast reader and having to wait for them to catch up. Heh.

Good afternoon. Could you add mine too, please? http://astoriahollow.tumblr.com I mostly post little lore bits, screenshots of various places and sometimes notes regarding my writing. Odd pieces like that. I really should do more with it, but procrastination is sort of unavoidable in my chosen field. We'll see...

Hello all! Just wanted to let you know that I do still upkeep this and I'm adding to it pretty much every other day. There's a lot to contribute and I find little pieces of information all of the time that need putting on there; moreso playing another character through the MSQ and catching lore bits here, there, everywhere. Please let people know if you think they'd find it interesting or useful. No, I haven't given up on it yet!

Hope you all had a fun-filled Early Access weekend! As promised, I have started to update the database (slowly, I have tonnes to do in-game). All of the sheets are now grey and Heavensward entries are coloured green, so you can clearly see which patch they come from. Should help finding new things and cross-referencing a little easier. Enjoy and thanks again!

Hello all! I would just like to announce that I'll be taking a short hiatus from updating the sheet whilst I play early access over the weekend. I think trying to do both things (knowing how stressed I get that I can't do everything at once) would make me even more crazy, but I shall be updating it! Please don't worry about that. Thank you all for your continued support with the project and I hope that you're finding it useful in some way. I wish you all happy tidings in the new areas! Be safe exploring and adventuring.

Fantastic games, but I'd suggest not playing them on PS3. Why? I don't want you to get unnecessarily frustrated at the memory leaks, crashes, bugs and glitches plaguing that platform. Hah. Much better to play them on PC. Bethesda don't really optimise their games for PlayStation and I've encountered the same problems in most of their releases. Whilst being made by another developer, NV still uses the same engine as Fallout 3 and so it suffers from the exact same problems. On PS3 - only, mind. Still, when you learn that the console has only 512mb RAM and look at the things some developers have done ... yep! I too hope they bring back Hardcore mode from F: NV, since that was a lot of fun. If I had to suggest one? Fallout: NV Ultimate Edition (it's GotY) but note that it has a LOT of DLC content to wade through. If you are more concerned with lore and backstory in preparation for Fallout 4, then get Fallout 3 GotY. Easy! Have fun whichever you choose!

I have motivational issues of another kind, heh. I'm really into the lore but most of my friends have a middling interest in it at best. I'm kind of like the bookish girl everyone knew in school; always in the library, reliable source of info for everything. One example was yesterday, watching the Heavensward dungeon trailer and seeing the winged Ixal in holding tubes. The implications for that are absolutely **HUGE**. The reason for the Ixal summoning Garuda, why they hate Gridanians and those living in the Black Shroud, the core of their age-old bitterness, hatred and cruelty ... and I just couldn't get any enthusiasm / understanding out of my friends. Sometimes it feels like I'm trapped inside of myself; in this weird place where I want to be all super nerdy about the lore and discuss things at length, go into implications of Event Y or what would happen if NPC X did this. But I can't. Because there's no-one close to share it with. I have the exact same issue with my writing. It's incredibly frustrating. As far as in-game stuff goes, yeah. Pre-patch/expansion lull. Even finding people to do primal PFs with is rare the past week or so. My advice would be to do what others have suggested: set yourself a goal each day. You've then done something and anything more is a bonus. Be positive!

Just a quick update: Added another sheet (Lore Bits) and more entries. Also changed the permission settings so people can comment if they wish. I believe if you log in with a Google account, you can use the chat function on there too!

Thank you all and you're welcome! I usually take a few hours at weekend mornings when it's quiet to update the database. With work and an impending house move, added to my concurrent effort at writing a fanfiction title, I don't get a huge amount of time, but definitely keen to keep at it (especially since when Heavensward hits it will be a WHOLE NEW WORLD of updates). If you have any suggestions or want to help out, by all means, let me know. If anything can be displayed with more clarity, you want to clear up a fact or to tell me I've made a mistake, likewise! I haven't been here long but already touched by all of your kindness and enthusiasm. Will continue to keep myself busy!

Hello all. As mentioned in my welcome post, I have been working on a Google Sheets database of all canon items in Hydaelyn that we know of (so far). The list - as you can imagine - is exhaustive and this project is still a work-in-progress, but I wanted to share it with you in its current state. Basically, it's a list of references. Have you ever wondered if vanilla exists on Hydaelyn and whether it's canon? Well, you're in luck. It does! Same goes for cashmere or peacocks or potassium nitrate! Please let me know what you think and I hope it's useful to everyone. Also, mods, if this post needs moving somewhere more appropriate, feel free to. Thanks in advance everyone. I look forward to your feedback. >> Encyclopaedia of Eorzean Entities

Thanks all, and hi Warren! If you'd like to help, feel free to PM me your emails (think it has to be bound to a Google account?) and I'll add you as an editor. Changed the access level so everyone can comment now too (we'll see how that goes!). Still in early stages and I'll periodically add to it. Hope it's useful though!

Thank you for the welcomes! Still working on the database, but feel free to check it out. It'll evolve as I get more time to spend updating bits of it (did a load of the food entries earlier today). Is there somewhere specific to post the link? In the meantime I'll just put it here. > Encyclopaedia of Eorzean Entries.

Hello. Warren Castille recommended I come post here to introduce myself, so here I am. The thing is, I'm not really a roleplayer as such. However, I am a writer (fanfiction and traditional fantasy) and within the scope of my work, I have to be the characters I write about. This is especially true of Coco, whom I see as an extension of my own personality. Is there a term for that within the community; an RPer but also not? What interests me is how others spend their time in Eorzea, what they do from day to day, how they handle situations etc., in a roleplaying sense. That kind of immersion is a good environment to learn, to get another perspective other than my own about living on Hydaelyn. I'm also a repository of random lore facts, trivia and tidbits so I can offer that in return! Currently working on a database of canon Hydaelyn terms, words, objects and so on, if anyone is interested in that. Basically a reference sheet to see whether something exists within lore terms. So...that's it. Thanks for reading.
