Thanks guys. Maybe one day they'll actually add Exdeath or Golbez's costume in the item shop. lol
-
Sigh, yeah, looks like I won't be able to create the look I want. Thanks for the help though guys. (Really wish they'd remove glamour restrictions.)
-
Question: Are there any armor sets that have a "heavy armor" look that casters can wear? I wanna get my Golbez/Exdeath look on. Or does Squeenix still have that stupid rule that mages can't wear heavy armor? *Again, looks at Golbez, Exdeath*

Yeah, if there's one downside to it, it's that. Man, I would kill for a Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD remaster or remake. Throw in DDS 1 and 2 for good measure. -

Oh yeah, I remember Nyarlathotep in the original Persona. You could actually get him for Chris/Reiji. Haven't played through 2 yet. It does seem like they abandoned elements the original games had though. Philemon is nowhere to be found and I think the horror-lite elements are missing too. Well, I can't complain too much; Persona 3 and 4 are freaking awesome. -
So, any other big SMT/Persona fans? I've been a fan since "Revelations: Persona" on the PSOne. Also, here is the latest trailer with english subtitles! FFx77tQvWTk Anyone else super-hyped...? Because I am. (Hahaha, the hacker girl's persona is "Necronomicon."
-
Man... this topic depresses me. So many awesome IPs just rotting away... You know what I really miss? (Other than Suikoden, Wild Arms, Breath of Fire (No, I'm not counting the mobile one), Castlevania, Silent Hill... Uhh, I better stop.) Goemon. Goemon is so freaking awesome. Even though we only got a few of the games. Mystical Ninja was the shit.

Oh, thanks! It's a bit of a pain to navigate, but I'll manage. :cactuar:

So, is there a site that has pics of costumes or gear sets characters wear? Like, one that shows social sets, or class sets etc?
-
Ya know, I just wanna say us Hellsguards have it easier when it comes to being lore-friendly with our names. We're just like "Man... They won't be able to pronounce that... Super Destroyer is easier to remember. I am now Super Destroyer." ... Well, not THAT particular name, I was just illustrating a point. I'm on Sargatanas at the moment, and it's all I can do not to exsanguinate myself everytime I see a weaboo name. I'm pretty proud of my Hellsguard's name; Falling Dusk.

Best Retro Game I Never See Anyone Talk About.
Hastur83 replied to Manari's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Loved it! I wish there were more games like it out nowadays. Those bosses could be brutal if you weren't careful though, even if you had the best parts evolved. So, did you remain a dinosaur/bird or become a mammal? Mammal could lead to becoming human, but you could fly around as a bird. I think there were some secrets in the last chapter you could only find as a bird too. Edit: Also; "Incredible 12 MEGs!" Gee golly, that sure is incredible! :3 -
Want to run a couple of backgrounds by everyone.

Oopsie, I think I posted this to the wrong forum. :frustrated: Can a mod move me to the appropriate forum if this isn't it? As to the questions, I was mostly concerned about the deities. Doesn't Nald'Thal value wealth? Would a thief or treasure hunter worship him? Forming a thieving duo was an idea I had too, but I wanted to see how the character would progress before I brought another person into the idea if they had something similar in mind. I mean you don't have to be a Rogue or Ninja to be a "thief." A Machinist would be a cool Highwayman, for example. -
Hey! It's been a while, I suddenly disappeared as soon as I made my debut. I should be around for longer this time. Anyways, I had a couple of ideas for my character, and I need some help making sure he's consistent with lore/some general advice. I know his name and what he's going to look like, and I have two very different ideas on how to build the character. First, he's a Hellsguard. Now, for the ideas: 1: A more mercenary take on the character. He's not evil, just very... well, just say he has a fondness for material stability. A sort of thief like Robin Hood/Goemon Ishikawa, he also gives away stuff he doesn't want to the poor (He likes rare treasures and armaments, he'll steal and rob regular stuff, but will end up giving it away if he doesn't need it) and also duels people and takes their weapons when he wins as a point of pride (Wheee~! Stuck some Benkei in there too!). He tends to follow his own rules, and will readily flee rather than face a tough fight. Though when he is forced to fight he is formidable. He is more "progressive" than many of his Hellsguard brethren, though still retains the desire for fame (or infamy) and recognition of his skills. He is much swifter than he looks, and even trained as a ninja, but was too impatient to complete the training. To some up his strengths; he is skilled and quick, but lazy and impatient. Personality-wise, at first he seems serious or stoic, but he is anything but. He bluffs to hide his rather impressive cowardice, and is otherwise prone to being sarcastic and snarky. 2. All business. This version of the character looks the same, but is completely different. He is a mage which seeks power over anything else, and desires to master all forms of magic. In a sense, he wants to be a master "Sage" like Tellah from FFIV. Although he is blunt and kinda scary if you don't know him, he actually isn't a mean guy, and will usually help out if someone needs his help. His desire to master all forms of magic and to gain ultimate power is more of a "personal mastery" thing than "I want to rule the world!" thing. I also have no idea which gods to let each of them worship. Oschon for the "bandit" and Rhalgr for the "mage"?

I think iconic character sets would be awesome. We need MOAR fanservice! Like Terra's outfit! Or Red Mage's! And Onion Knight's! A personal favorite of mine is the Man in Black from Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, despite its simplicity. http://thelifestream.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/ff4_2-alt2.png[/img]

Ah, that actually helped me quite a lot you guys. I think I have a better picture now of how these guys are.
-
Yeah, I imagine you guys get this a lot. Sorry. I was thinking about trying out Siren, since I've seen here and a few other places that there's a small RP trying to stay alive there.
-
Well, I don't want to cause any problems here, especially since I'm so new. But I really think it's in our best interest to designate a third server. Obviously, we can only hope for the best and promote as best as we can. Server communities are organic things and unless you're in charge of them it's hard to change things. As of now there is Balmung, Gilgamesh, and a bunch of us scattered across different servers in ragtag bands. The Liberation Army cannot fight the Scarlet Moon Empire without a base to unite in, but Toran Castle is full to bursting, and so is North Window Castle. How can you expect Jowy and Riou to seal the Beast Run if they can't even move an elbow without bumping into another person? Flik and Viktor are already sharing their rooms with seven other Stars. No! We must find Thomas and live in Budehuc Castle! It's super spacious! We'll never have to see Krin in his smallclothes again! ... Sorry for that non-sequitur. It's extremely early, and I'm a bit demoralized missing my chance to create a character on Balmung. Also, I've been watching too much Gintama.
-
Welp. I somehow missed my window for entering Balmung after the maintenance. Somehow. Despite standing by and checking constantly for the servers to come up. I've sniffed around a little, and it truly seems like Balmung and Gilgamesh are at their limits. Yet all I see is "Oh, come to Balmung, we have the best and most active RP Community!", which may well be true, but it doesn't matter if no one new can join. Simply put; we need a third unofficial RP server. There's no getting around it. When no one but the ones who pay can enter the RP community, it might as well not exist. What are people new to the RP community supposed to do? The RP servers are literally locked 24/7. I think we need to have a discussion on where the third unofficial RP server is going to be. I don't like it, but Square won't improve the servers. They'll just continue to lock more people out. Are us newbies doomed to simply eat cake? "Too bad, so sad. Pay to transfer."? We need to find a solution to this problem that's equitable to everyone before it gets worse, and it WILL get worse as people continue to squeeze into the only two RP servers.
-
Sure! If I can ever actually get into the game. There's only 4 servers open at 4:13 AM Central Time, so, uhhh... it might be a while before I can get on to any of the RP servers. Are Hellsguard particularly pious? It's said that they adapt faster than Seawolves, but that sort of flies in the face of their more conservative beliefs. But then, a lot of them abandon their names to better fit in with the rest of the world. I'm having a hard time placing what the "average" Hellsguard is like. Or their culture, anyways. I know the ones that go out into the world typically work as mercenaries or bodyguards, and a lot of them are in Ul'dah.
-
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I did a quick search and didn't see anything that stuck out. So, I'm planning a Hellsguard character, got his look picked out and everything. I did a web search and this is what I've been able to gather about our dusky-toned giant friends. They are very reverent to the fiery mountains of their home, believing it to be a gate to the underworld. (Patron god is Nald'Thal? He's the god of the underworld isn't he?) They send second and third sons out into the world to make a name for themselves. They are very much a merit and honor-based society of warriors, choosing to even throw away their family name in order to stand on their own accomplishments. They are capable as mages as well as fighters, lore-wise. They often act as mercenaries and bodyguards in their search for glory. Their numbers are low in Eorzea. For some reason they view Alchemy as blasphemy against the gods (...Does this seem weird to anyone else?) Is that about it? I'm having trouble figuring out how the religion works in Eorzea. I know it's polytheistic, with certain factions and cities having patron gods like the city-states of classical Greece. Is the PC's Guardian like a personal patron god? Do certain races and classes have particular gods that they gravitate to? What does worship of these gods even look like?

It's hard to believe servers are still that populated at 3-4-5 in the morning. I saw in a few places Siren was building up a small rp community, any experience there?

Hello, I was given FFXIV on Steam from a buddy after I played the 14-day trial. My playtime might be a little sporadic, I'm in between careers ATM, but I still have a whole 30 days of playtime at least! Anyways, so I'm a RPer and I heard this was the community for that stuff, so here I am! I already have a character concept in mind, but I do have a question. Balmung and Gilgamesh are basically out of reach for new characters. It's literally locked 24/7, and I know that because my sleep is screwed up. I'm guessing it's due to the AFKers. Is there a third alternative for RPers? Or am I just out of luck?
