Hey all, trying FFXIV again and I think I like it better now. I blame the nostalgia factor what with FFVII Remake coming. A few things up front though I'll be honest about. - Final Fantasy XIV is not my main game. I run a guild in ESO so I can't be on all the time in FFXIV, though I will attempt at a bare minimum of an hour each day if I can, and I'll always have one or two days dedicated to this one. If things in my guild get busy, I may be on here less BUT I am open to discord RP during those busier times! I also work a 40 hour work week Mon-Friday which certainly can cramp that as well. My discord handle is Rykoth#4587. - I'm not very good at the lore, but I will do my best. I don't know the lore of this game well, and I'm learning as I level up so please be patient. That said. I play a Hrothgar. As I start roleplaying him and do the questing in pursuit gaining the limited lore knowledge of his people I'll grow more confident with him over time. He has a general base personality I have for him, but I tend to be a grower, especially in settings I'm not as familiar with. More about'em will be revealed in time. That said, he's a a loner... on the surface. A lion without a pride. A wolf without a pack. On the surface he may seem intimidating, brutish and maybe even a little gruff but ultimately once you earn this fierce warrior's trust or respect you'll find that there is much more to him. I'm really looking for folks to RP with as a general thing - contacts, associates, friends, rivals, and even romance. I'd like to find a good FC for him, though I suspect that will take a long time to figure out what the right fit is for me. I prefer writers who have a similar style - one or more paragraphs. 18+ only, especially with the romantic stuff. Not interested in anything to do with lalafell - no offense - for anything really. For any long term romance, I do prefer open communication as that kind of story requires investment and trust between writers. I'm not interested in throwing my character in the deep end only to find that who I'm writing with is still in the shallow side of the pool so to speak. (Shorter term stuff is okay, but not for the sake of it.) I'm super highly interested in RPing with other Hrothgar, maybe even a linkshell to form connections with others! I've always had a fascination with barbaric or savage type races and this one certainly fits the bill to a degree! There may not be a lot of lore, but I challenge my fellow Hrothgar to help build some sort of IC network of us! Thanks for your time! So, I introduced myself, put up my RP Profile, which I need to fix and edit now that I'm off for a couple days! I'm still figuring things out, and I'll be leveling a lot while I play since at level 11 and 2 respectively I'm relearning (I played a year ago for about a week and change) how to play this game. That said I've settled on two characters I'm playing. One of which is a Highlander Lancer, who I'll be RPing as a Spear Maiden or whatever term fits for a Highlander! The other is a Roegdyn Marauder! I'll be looking for connections for both! For the Highlander - Paisley Wallace - I've already joined the Resistance LS, but I'm interested in establishing connections - whether familial, childhood friend, potential suitors, any of that sort of thing. I'll be slowly working on a wiki for her, but I'll admit my lore knowledge is... lacking. I'm still reading up. Researching. Need timelines and the like! What I'd appreciate is someone I can RP with semi regularly (I work 5 days a week, and while I tend to get on the computer all five days, not every day will be spent in FFXIV, so discord and the like are options as well!) In particular, a fellow Highlander I can establish a rapport with regardless of the connection, and someone who can help me figure out the lore while we RP. Sometimes reading isn't enough and it takes in game usage of the knowledge to help develop a character! And for my Roegdyn - Gyda Axedaughter - I would love some Roe connections. Admittedly I'll probably just use her for leveling and beating stuff up with an axe for now, because I'm not sure IF I'll be playing her a ton. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I would consider myself a Heavy Roleplayer. I tend to be IC most of the time I'm IG in many games. That said, while adventuring/leveling, it depends on the character type. I'm not as familiar with FFXIV's lore as I am other settings, and since my main character is a Hrothgar that adds another degree of challenge! I'd also describe myself as a realism roleplayer. Even in high fantasy settings I try to keep my RP grounded. My character doesn't do magic things willy nilly, and fantastic things are treated like fantastic things. I like to be a part of the world, not the center of it. Views on RP combat and injuries: I dig it, so long as one party doesn't try to avoid getting hurt the whole time! I believe in IC actions = IC consequences. Injuries and even death are a part of that, though death is severe and shouldn't be on a whimsy. Views on IC romance: All things in moderation. I have to trust an RP partner enough to not either disappear or to drop the RP for "bigger and better things." Romance is not the only reason I want to play or RP, and is only one factor among many. Romantic RP will not keep me playing if the rest of the game or the rest of the RP is failing. That said, if done well, romantic RP can be quite engaging! By that same token, I am ERP friendly, but NOT an ERP-Hound, and I will not react positively to whispers that try to initiate it unsolicited. I'm also not interested in some of the odd interests I know some folks have. My main is a Hrothgar, but I also have a Roeg female. As in, actual female, not a female with extra equipment. So please, don't be whispering about that stuff. In fact, don't whisper me about ERP at all. I prefer that to be an element of RP that happens naturally. If the topic comes up in RP then we can pause and make sure everyone consents and is game for it. Likewise, I'm playing a Hrothgar but I am not interested in furry stuff. No disrespect to the community there - while I'm open for him having a romantic and intimate relationship I'm not interested in getting weird. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): The more the better! Would love to find some Hrothgar stuff to do, and on my alt some Hellsguard things! Views on lore: I don't know much about FFXIV's lore, but I will learn it, and I will hone my knowledge of it, because I try to follow lore as strictly as I can. I love lore in any game. Well, I rolled two characters, a highlander and a roe, and we'll see which one I like the most coming soon!

I suppose a follow up to that is... how strict are the transfer requirements? The character still have to exist for XYZ amount of time or does it have to be a certain level? It might not be too bad if I'm forced to sit on my hands for a few days, if only because I'm approaching the three day stretch of my work week that leaves me ready for bed by the time I get home!

I dabbled here before before deciding I wasn't a fan of the game, though admittedly the wait to get to Balmung frustrated me entirely. I'm interested in trying again on a casual basis, and I have a few questions! 1. Is Balmung still the place to be? 2. The Sea Wolves/Hells Guard.... is there a decent population of them? I think I'll be going with them, and if not them, a Highlander. I'm looking for communities of either group! 3. Cake, Pie, or Cookies?

My main will ultimately be an Au Ra that I'll transfer over in a few days... am curious if there's any Au Ra guilds/free companies that are culture based? I'm fascinated by the race overall - both variations!

Yeah I'm on a PC. Tried different browsers. It's just a blank line with no drop down. I can choose destination server but obviously not my characters/server I'm already on.

Right now when I try to transfer, I have no options under "current world."

I'm asking here because the guidelines don't seem to be necessarily right according to others. Like supposedly transferring to Balmung isn't possible according to the guidelines yet people seem to do it. Hence asking >.>
