Howdy, Howdy, Howdy yet again as I find myself in this thread posting yet again but with good reason! Now I'm a fan of writing stories out for my characters or just writing them in general and I was working on one recently for my character Garrett which involves some of his backstory but instead of just going ahead and finishing it I thought it would be a good idea to see if anyone would like to be involved, it's a great way to meet people and make new connections for later as or so as it will be a past or maybe even recent event topic kind of thing but here's the rundown of it. I will probably be doing it on the forums as it will make a lot easier, even if people don't role play as themselves NPCs are special too you know! But before I get sidetracked Garrett is an Ishgardian Freelancer, young and in way over his head in most cases but this is where the story comes from! He took a job from a rich guy from Uldah who goes by his name name Lewenhert. Garrett took on the job believing he could get it done, but he didn't which resulted in the man losing a lot of Gil which bought Garrett into his debt, thinking nothing of it and hadn't paid him back has raised all kinds of problems and most for the future to come and this is where our story comes into it! Working along another group of Mercenaries, Garrett and them travel out to Falcons Nest receiving information as they complete each step, now the whole job was set up by none other than the man Lewenhert and his cronies aiming to lure Garrett out and make him pay. Which then ends up leading the group and himself into a part of the frozen wasteland waiting to be ambushed and such! But I don't want to give away too much just in case people are interested but if not I thought the gesture was nice to try and get people involved in something different. But what's needed are NPCs aka the cannon fodder, blood will be shed. Your characters, the RP spirit and yeah you get the picture.

Oh I have loads of ideas in my head, I know how I want my character to be portrayed but my aim is to have him develop overtime, I personally think its better to start off that way instead of having everything mapped out but have goals that kinda thing if it makes sense. But I appreciate what everyone has I said, I really mean it <:

I do make the attempts of interacting with others randomly, be it walking past someone and bumping into them or such so it's not as if I'm waiting for it to come to me, I am trying to search out there but I guess its where I'm just adjusting to change of having RP and then not having it for so long. I did the other day, do what you just mentioned I was watching a small group RP in the Forgotten Knight in Ishgard and I just PM'd one of them that I was enjoying it, watching it from the short distance IC and overhearing something which interests my character got me involved. But I understand what you're saying and getting at and its one of those things that will get better over the course of time, I have some things to look forward to now from others by what I've read and I've cheered up abit seeing encouraging words from those who have known the situation and know how to deal with it. So fingers crossed!

Well I did start putting abit more effort in, since I've been on Balmung for ages but I never knew about this site and a long while back is when I was probably more active but as time passes some people do end up leaving and thats what happened to the people I know. As for the effort part I did make a rough wiki page so far and did try writing up something in the connections, I'm not very good at writing these kinda things but I think I did alright and I'll update it when I get more time but if you do want to check it out its here Click Me! Any pointers and stuff, advice, suggestions as you've kindly given already is always welcome. But I'd love to be involved in anything so I'll gladly take up the offer, but I do spend most of my time around Ishgard I love the place, the music and the setting theres just something about it.

I'm not sure if its just how the community is or if I'm just extremely unlucky on my hunts for roleplay but it seems to me as if you don't know people that roleplay or aren't apart of a FC its rather difficult to find a place where you can fit in and RP with other people. I've wandered around Ishgard, Ul'dah and the other places and its been on a very rare occasion that I manage to get involved. Sometimes its even awkward just sending someone a tell, mentioning it and not getting a response etc. What would be the best thing to do in this situation? Because I'm finding it hard to keep my drive for RPing. ;-;

Hi everybody! My name is Garrett, I've been a member on Balmung for quite some time and I've been RPing for about ten years but I never really explored much into Final Fantasy and now was the time in which I decided to take it up and I have to say I'm looking forward to it. Yeah, I did try The Quicksand and such but it really didn't work out that well. But if you ever do, I look forward to it because I agree, connections are always better ^^.

So, I've been apart of Balmung for quite some time and I knew that it was the place to be for roleplaying but I had never managed to get round to doing it and getting involved which is a massive shame. I've been roleplaying for ten years or so from other MMOs to forums and now to here. Usually I'm one that can be quite fussy deciding on how my character should be personality wise, appearance, the lot but with this character I've been quite happy what I've had laid out for him with his background etc. However as I mentioned I haven't really found a place to be just as of yet, I've made the attempt to go the hubbed areas where its quite busy but sadly it seemed that some people had kept to their own accord with that they did. Then I learned about this place so I signed up and I thought I'd give it a go, so if any suggestions, tips and whatever else comes along I'll be more than happy to take. [align=center]About [align=left]Garrett is a very prideful person in what he does and tries to remain independent in his work due to what he has been through in his past experiences and the dirty work that he has head to deal with. He also has a different sense of justice compared to what some others might see, for example: If there is the option to do the wrong thing, even though it is the right thing to do where others might not kinda thing if that makes sense? He also isn't used to being helped out by other people, he sees it as a rather strange action as if to wonder "What do they owe me for this?" or even in a defeated sense such as "Why wouldn't I do that myself." Even though he would be grateful he doesn't always show his emotions the best. Garret is also a cold-cut mercenary, people say that the heat of battle changes people and in his case it does. It doesn't matter whom they might be, what they've done or haven't done, if he's been contracted he'll make sure to get the job done regardless. When in battle its as if he was a completely different person, someone who had lost control of his senses and his emotions until its all over and done with. Boy, I'm not really making him sound out to be a good person here am I? But no, Garrett is very protective when it comes to his friends and his close ones, he would do what it takes to get them out of harms way, taking their troubles on as his own and would forget about his til they're safe and taken care of. [align=center]Locations you might find him: [align=left]Garrett can either be found around the lower areas of Ishgard and the Forgotten Knight, other places that you might find him are the lower decks of Limsa Lominsa or wondering around the streets of Ul'dah, he does enjoy to travel quite abit. [align=left]I'm looking for new friends to enjoy RPing with and interacting with IC or OCC, because having connections amongst different people is great and it can lead to other things! Possibly looking for a romantic partner, because who doesn't love abit of romance here and there? Even the drama that it can lead to between characters can be pretty fun. Nothing beats a good enemy/nemesis though, I think sometimes having a fued between characters or more can always lead to some interesting scenarios. Also who can turn down work? Gotta get by some how so employers are welcome also, as long as its planned out and not doing something random just for the sake of doing it.
