XI:7, a growing Free Company on the Balmung server, is looking to fill some roles within its ranks. Now, there has been some changes in structure since my last version of this thread. The departmental break up was left to be a big sandbox for players to come in and create their own divisions. After trial and error we realized that it didn't work as well as we hoped. However, we did not abandon the idea completely. Before I go into all the different areas, I just want to say that I am very excited with the diversity we've already got within our ranks. XI:7 is meant to pull from all walks of life to defend Eorzea. It is leading to some great RP that mingles mercenaries and craftsmen alike. We have broken the company up into major Divisions, and are willing to let members create sub-groups from there if they so choose. But there is now a clear hierarchy and structure to the company. For a full overview of the Divisions, click here. Trade and Manufacturing XI:7 is a weapons manufacturer that is looking to expand into new markets. Any merchant or craftsman type characters would fall under this category. Research and Development This is where the company researches aether, magi-tek, and any other projects they want to further. Have a mad scientist character? We want you. Or any other student/scholar/researcher. Military/Combat This is our general combative force. Basically the SOLDIER of XI:7. Any bodyguards, mercenaries, bounty hunters, or other combat types fit in this division. Medical Pretty self-explanatory here. Any healers or doctors would go here, though the Medical Division also has some ties to Research and Development as they develop new medical and aetheric techniques. Administration This is our department for anything Law, Accounting, Management, Human Resources or Public Relations Security and Internal Affairs This is the secret intelligence branch of the company. They are our Turks. Entertainment XI:7 is looking to own and operate a number of casinos, inns, taverns, and other places of gathering. We want to eventually develop a little RP hub for the community, and want to sign on entertainers, bartenders, host/hostesses, etc. Basically the socialites who keep the party going. ~~~~~ These are meant to be the foundation of further creativity. For example, I would like to see a character as a sort of Beastmaster. Someone who comes in and raises attack dogs and breeds chocobos for the company. As the servers were going down, I was about to get my Marauder to 30 and unlock Warrior. Ironically enough I have decided to switch to Gladiator for various reasons. Now, let me preface anything I say with the fact that I have not tanked high end content in this game yet. This is all from things I have read and under lvl 30 dungeons. First of all, in the first party you died because you had no healer, not because you were a bad tank. The second party was because you had a rogue DPS that actively worked against a smooth run. You shouldn't need to be spamming Flash. If the DPS are pulling at all at that level, you're gonna have a hard time controlling the fight. The basic pull is Shield Throw/Tomahawk >> Flash/Overpower then go into your enmity combos (/damage combos if you're MRD) Basically what I'm saying is you didn't get a fair chance because you had bad teams. You don't have Shield Oath/Defiance yet which boosts your enmity. Being a tank sometimes means taking charge and telling people how things need to work so you can survive the dungeon. Tanking is definitely fun. Its about all I play. But it does take practice, some studying, and some confidence to tell a party how things need to be done. EDIT: P.S. Learning to tank might be easier on Gladiator. Marauder is lots of fun and a great tank, it just has a lot more to keep on top of from switching between enmity combo/damage combo, to using cooldowns to get your HP back. (Berserk>>Second Wind, a PUG ability work well together. Bloodbath (HP Steal) and GLD's +Healing ability work well together too) In your situations, it would have been about the same as a MRD.

OOC: XI:7 will be holding a small open house event in Limsa Lominsa tonight (8/25). We'll be meeting at the Bismarck for some RP. The central purpose is to give an opportunity to those who are interested in XI:7 ICly to come and ask questions and meet some of the employees. A Free Company is basically a guild. You can only join one and you get perks as the FC levels up. A linkshell is more or less a chatroom. You can have up to 8. And you might have been reading up on the Blades as opposed to my group, XI:7. My group is very far from secretive. They are actually quite a public essence, and one dedicated for the greater good. I just wanted to pop in and give my testimonial for Mysterium. If you think your character will fit with them, I highly suggest joining up with them. So far they've proven themselves to be an awesome group. Like Freelance mentioned, there are three growing FCs that are allying with each other. Alright, here is my first round of ideas. They are all along the same theme; seems they are all at least interested in defending Eorzea. - The Bastion Alliance - The Citadel Alliance - The Rampart Alliance - The Bulwark Alliance - The Phalanx Alliance I'll keep thinking of different options that lean towards different themes.

Hello everyone! So as some of you may know, there are three growing powers on Balmung that are entering into an alliance. I wanted to create this thread specifically for brainstorming a name we can give to this alliance. Now, we tossed around some ideas to play with the fact that there are three organizations, however I'd like to avoid names like that in case we bring in other organizations under the banner. So I'll be posting here as well as I force my brain to come up with ideas. I'm gonna go ahead and assume Ashren and Freelance will find this thread, if not I'll poke them later. But whether you are part of the alliance or not, give us some ideas for cool names we could use! If it helps at all, I'll give a quick synopsis of each group that is joining together. XI:7: This is my group. The explanation I've found most effective is that we are Shinra for the good guys. Developing weapons technology and aetherical research, XI:7 uses its profits and new technology to protect Eorzea. Mysterium: These guys are a society of mages. They swear an oath and delve into everything magical. Any aether related is their wheelhouse. Blades of Nald'thal: The Blades protect Eorzea from the shadows. They are a secret society that cover their tracks to remain anonymous. XI:7 and the blades are similar in their structure, just that the Blades are much more secretive. LeCard coined the basic roles of each of the Free Companies, and its pretty much stuck since. XI:7 is the Face, Mysterium is the Arcane, and Blades is the Shadows. I don't know why, but the three sort of remind me of the beginning of Kingdom Hearts. You have to choose between a Sword, a Shield, and a Magic Wand. Depending on what you choose, your stats will be effected as you go through the game. Blades of Nald'thal is the Sword. Mysterium is the Magic Wand. XI:7 is the Shield. Anyroad, lets brainstorm. There is a perfect name out there somewhere, we just have to find it.

Mine would have to be a REAL Paladin. I'm sort of disappointed with the job so far. Lore wise they stapled it to the Sultana, really limiting what it can be. Mechanics wise so far they just seem a little blah. I'll re-assess as I get higher in level, but Paladins don't feel like Paladins anymore.
