Zikh Milh'To out of Bahamut. I lead the night shift for players with overnight schedules. Looking for a free company that does that too! Swing by the thread and send me something, I'll find your name.
-
I've determined our hangout points. Ul'Dah: Forgotten Springs, building on the north west side shared by the immortal flames. Limsa: Poor Maids Mill, open area. Gridania: Sweetbloom Pier, a secluded spot out of the rain. Gather up on occasion if you're bored! We'll be calling you here if we ever attempt to start events.
-
I'll keep an eye open for you. My days have been a bit hectic for the past few weeks, but I should be sneaking on more soon.
-
Just drop your name here. I'll see it every day.

With everything in full swing and about 40 members in the night shift, it's about time we started considering locations for us to hang ourselves out to dry. Criteria for this hangout would be as follows: 1: It has to be in an area most people can access, either before, or after level 20 roughly and retrieval of the airship pass. 2: It should be away from heavy traffic, and preferably away from heavy monster populations. This doesn't mean it should be in any of the towns, but they seem like the most appropriate location. 3: Preferably this location would have some manner of vendors or sales locations, but isn't required. 4: People should agree it is a cool place to hang out, roleplay, and generally be around one another. If you have suggestions be sure to ask or post here, as well as catch me in game. We're going strong, if a bit intermittently as of right now, but we're collecting members every day. Come join us and conquer the night!

Just need your character name
-
I will be on tonight, 9/11, from now for a while. If you want to catch me, here's a good opportunity!
-
Things are progressing well. We have around 20 members so far, and I'm finding more day by day. We've a few dedicated roleplayers out there, which is good, and plenty more space for more folks to join. As always, I'm still on at odd hours under the character Zikh Milh'to, so keep an eye out for me, and if you gave me your name, once I find you I'll send you some invites. Let's keep expanding. :3

My Steam ID is johneveryman I will be on tonight for a good while, so send me a message!
-
I'll just go ahead and put this here. The easiest way to reach me at any time whether I'm on or not is to get my steam ID. If it's on, my computer is on. Enough said. Send me a message and add me on there as well. I'm currently 21 in Ul'Dah as a gladiator, so it might be hard to remind yourselves sometimes.
-
We don't have a voice chat set up, but if you'd like to do one go on ahead. I was never big on using them because for some reason it makes a few people uncomfortable. I'll write your names down and see if I can send you guys some letters regarding the matter. Hope to see you all soon!

Balmung (after the server boosts) has finally accepted me onto the server. To that end, Zikh Milh'To is now an active member of the community! Send me a letter, a friends request, a message here (though that will be harder to manage) and I'll add you to the shell! Once again we're a community that offers ourselves to night time and overnight players who are on at the wee hours of the morning and usually have no one to play with! Zikh is wandering the world to discover what happened to his mother during the calamity.
-
Balmung and Gilgamesh aren't accepting new players it seems... This may become needlessly difficult..
-
Thank you for your patience! Sadly I wasn't invited into Phase 4, but now I'm back during the launch! They also apparently destroyed my characters (:'<) So now I'm starting from scratch! Just like before I'm going to be implementing the night shift onto the Balmung server. If this needs to change to Gilgamesh due to legacy server problems, I'll make sure to point it out here. As always, we will be recruiting members of the community who enjoy roleplay and collaboration specifically during the night time hours, or low traffic hours, as people who are on overnight usually have few people to regularly play with. This way, we can enjoy the night and empty areas of the world together rather than struggling in vain alone. I will retain the name Zikh Milh'To, so send me a letter, a message, a friend request, anything to let me know you want to join and I'll do my best to accommodate you! We're open to all players, all regions, so I hope to see some of our English speaking friends over seas with us as well!

Today, 7/11, as of now 7:30 GMT, I will be sitting in UlDah recruiting for the linkshell! Swing on by. I'll stick around for an hour!
-
During Phase 3 I will be logging in regularly at 8AM (give or take) every morning during the five day testing. If you would like to join the nightshift on Balmung to have access to other night time and overnight players, interested in both social and roleplaying, please send me a letter via the delivery moogle, a friend request, or a message on these boards! My name in game for those who've missed it: Zikh Milh'to I look forwards to seeing you all in game!

Let's all follow his example! Zikh Milh'to, Male Mi'Qote of the Moon, gladiator. He resides currently in Ul'Dah while seeking out information and preparing himself. History Zikh was born and raised to a weaver family. When he was young, his mother walked off into the destruction caused by Bahamut and Dalamung. When his younger brother went off to find the remains of their mother, leaving Zikh behind to handle the family business alone, his brother ended up disappearing as well. Zikh spent his days continuing to work, never learning in the absence of his mother. Eventually once he came of age enough to start training thoughts of finding his brother, and the last remains of his mother consumed his mind. He'd been isolated and alone for a very long time. So setting out from the countryside he made the caravan for Ul'Dah figuring it was the closest center of information. Upon arriving Zikh was informed of his brother. Standing over the body ready to be put to the fire to dispose of it Zikh stared down at the man who had once swore he'd bring their mother back. Zikh took his sword off his belt and walked away, sealing the idea into his heart. Up until then he'd lived for almost nothing. Now, he knew there was something deeply wrong in the world. He just didn't know what he was going to do about it. Personality Zikh is a quiet and reserved person, but he get's upset easily and easily confused during conversations, causing him to rant. At most times he can be described as solitary, keeping his words to himself, and details buried even deeper. His actions push him forwards, and even if he gets new gear, he always keeps his brothers sword on him. In battle he changes into an entirely different person. All of the determination he has towards his goal focuses on his foe and turns into a steely eyed resistance to his own demise. His brothers sword, his mother's ring, and the people who caused all of it, all lay in one direction. Forwards.

I agree with the sentiment, but roleplay doesn't need to be a chore! In MMO's, a place where text involvement isn't necessarily the core focus of the gameplay, we have to exercise ourselves to becoming better roleplayers on games! A few tips to keep in mind: 1: When in doubt, local. Honestly unless you're screaming for someone it's not very useful to do anything but. Does that mean to roleplay in battle? Perhaps not. Does that mean voice is useless? Of course not. But in the basest terms, local is the way to go if not a community shell. 2: It's okay that you're short for words. When a roleplayers looks at a situation it usually sums up everything into text and then presents it. In an environment that doesn't allow you to effect the setting, you're SOL. But that also means you're safe. Think about it, how are you conversations carried in real life? In real time, with real interruption, and with very little to actually say until you have an opinion. Being short on words or humble is not devaluing roleplay, it is applying it accurately to your situation at hand. 3: Roleplay all the time. I mean, in parties with other people, with strangers in public, with NPCs even if you're just greeting them. Chances are people don't know you're a pile of crap behind that monitor. They can't determine if you're an evil shallow minded heartless son of a bitch any further than they could determine if you're male or female, much less the size of your body parts. If you always act as your character, the only criticisms will be upon your character. Being in the habit usually helps you have a mindset. Business is business such as leveling, and the rest of the time you're on stage. If Broadway can do it three times a day, six days a week, then so can you. 4: Battle roleplay has it's places. I typically imagine myself fighting something in front of me as a Gladiator because I'm weird. But this also brings to mind that when you TP is recharging and you're not doing anything but stabbing something, throw in a shout or statement, don't let yourself get dragged down by the system of it. You're here to experience what they do. Amongst other roleplayers, you'll find friends, and amongst other players who don't, they'll get a laugh out of it. Rule three helps you in this case. 5: Case by case would be easy if you could tell people were acting, wouldn't it? But in the game world people are either there to conduct business as usual, or business as dramatic, and splitting the two isn't usually acceptable because as a player, you're meeting the needs of other players as a team focus. This is easy. Continue as planned, but if they ask you something, give it to them straight. Everyone enjoys different things at different rates. I'd mention more, but I'd think roleplayers are capable of managing their own time and behavior enough not to self destruct on the matter. Remember, as an individual people aren't inclined to be helpful at all. Establishing who you are as an individual, then letting that go, is how you live happily in a world full of jerks. Hope this was helpful.

Today and tomorrow I will be lounging around in Ul'Dah outside the Thaumaterge's guild. Anyone willing to join the night shift shell, and come hang out with me should feel free to! On that note not sure exactly where I'll be sitting, but you'll spot me. This will be my first time actually recruiting players in the game for the shell. Since we've all been enjoying the beta there hasn't been a great deal of time for that. I hope we can all meet and get to know one another as we roleplay and quest! (GLD looking for WHM if you know what I mean. ) The Night Shift is searching for players between 9PM and 9AM but is open to all people that play late night.

I don't have a free company, but I run a night time linkshell and am planning to be on Balmung. I'm unsure why people think playing on a legacy server will be a bad thing, when all it means is experienced players are on the server. Personally as a player just getting used to the game and leveling up, it helps a lot when you just have that easy button. the people who know how a quest works or where to find things. Information is always a good thing in my opinion. Besides, if all the roleplayers of the game settled on Balmung first, then why change? Seek roleplayers where they are sought. In the meantime, I'll just keep trying to find players between 9PM and 9AM

*Pets Vita gently.* Don't worry my pet... ; ; One day there will be a just and righteous god who gives you greater purpose. ... And god damned monster hunter...

The linkshell is live on Balmung! Send me a letter to Zikh Milh'to to let me know who you all are! :3 See you on!

Okay! SE opened up character creation for legacy servers including Balmung! So I'll be getting my LS put together as a Gladiator! My name will be Zikh Milh'to, so feel free to send me a message! Might take me a bit to gather the levels or dough needed, but we can manage!
-
They opened up character creation for legacy servers, so I'll be making my LS ready on Balmung. Sure, it'll be filled with diverse amounts of players who've been around. But that means you won't get stuck on quests, there are others out there for help, the market will be plentiful, you'll never be left alone, and even if it's legacy, there are a lot of low level players to depend on. So don't worry! There's no reason you need to be the biggest fish in the pond.
