The Master Linkshell [Balmung OOC Cross-shell]
Coral Ferrinas replied to Ventus Zeruel's topic in Chronicles
Gridania Surveyors supports this initiative. Leader: Gilbert La'pine Officer: Coral Ferrinas Adventure awaits! -
I have begin to upload more lore threads in our website and I am planning to enhance our RP ability by increasing the understanding of Twelveswood. We are now hoping to recruit more members. We role-play, helping each other with their characters' progressions, and of course, helping each other in the end-game runs. If you are interested, you may contact me in-game, Coral Ferrinas, or send in an application in our website.

Thank you for all of your reply. It gave me more insights and understandings of how you guys operate ICly. For some of the replies above, we do have a LS (also named Gridania Surveyors) that serves as our OOC channel. Thus we have FC channel that is IC, and LS channel that is OOC. The problem is we spend most of our time in OOC chat. In fact, we hardly ever use the FC channel at all. I originally thought that we could use some advice in learning how to translate OOC to IC, and thus making the transition easier. Now that I have read all of your replies, I think another problem we have is the fact that we don't much talk ICly. I think we need to figure out how to tackle this. For example, we need to move some of the in-game topics from OOC to IC chat. I was thinking, may be, someone could mentions how to make gil OOCly, and I'll just try to speak of it ICly and continue the topic in IC chat. I hope it works.

I have spoken to my leader, Gilbert La'pine, about the frequency of us speaking more OOCly than ICly within our Free Company, Gridanian Surveyors. I think the biggest obstacle that keep us in OOC is because of the game mechanics, specifically the end-game requirement (Primal Hard Mode, Castrum Meridianum and Amdapor Keep Run). Another problem is probably the way we include non-RPers into this, but I think we can solve it by switching to OOC during the run, and switch back to IC after the run. We can explained that the person is day-dreaming when he is AFK, and we can say the person is resting in an inn when she is offline. I also understand that most people RP when you made an arrangement with friends to RP, and went back to OOC as soon as you are finish the episodic RP. I wish to know how, for those who are commit to speak ICly the whole game, navigate around the game mechanic and game play requirement.

This is interesting to me. Mine is an RP FC called the Gridania Surveyors, and we have a free position of Master Engineer, one that is suitable for someone as dedicated as you. I will ask my leader in this regard and get back to you. ^^ That being said, I understand what you meant on being ICly in FC most often than OOCly on LS Channel. My previous RP experiences involved IC chat only. So far, we are talking OOCly more than ICly because of the end game mechanic. We often spend time finding party for AK, CM, Ifrit Hard Mode, Garuda HM, etc. It is obvious that Gridania Surveyors might not be a good FC for you. However, you are welcome to check it out. You may visit the link in my signature for more information about Gridania Surveyors.

Our leader, Gilbert La'pine of the Gridania Surveyors, is so good in RP >.< So good that this FATE RP was awesome. We took the FATE just above the Quarrymill, the one fortress that the Redbellies intend to take. Our Free Company is placed under the branch of the Yellow Serpent of the Twin Adder, hence the name. So, we RP in the manner of missions, scouting, or surveying. I think there are a lot of FATEs that you can use for RP. One such FATE is the one on the Highbridge. Was it Qiqirn or other beast race that involved a continuous chain of FATEs. I'm sure any Flames RP group, or Adventurers' or Mercenaries' Companies RP could use it as a setting. The problem of it was to wait for the FATE to appear. Lucky for us, the Redbellies' FATE happens right on the moment as we reached the area. If not, I'm sure Gilbert has a backup story to keep the pace. When the FATE appears, He said in the line of "The intel was bad" and "we have taken for fools!" and after the FATE, "We need to work on our intelligence network." Cool eh? :cactuar:

Thank you for the replies ^^ I wasn't hateful, we have continuing RP and ignore them. I just want to understand why they say something like that. Thank you so much ^^

I was rping near Quarrymill, and we use FATE as our RP element. Of course, this attracts a lot of Non-RPers who are hunting for FATE. Unfortunately this happen: ---------------------------------------------------- Gilbert La'pine: Fight on! They'll not have the hive back on our watch! Gilbert La'pine: Another wave! Zephyrik Epocan: Everytime someone RPs, God kills a kitten and a puppy. (Coral Ferrinas) The gate is still standing sir! Tae Hyolyn: I was about to say that P'lha Tahl: *gasp* You don't like kittens and puppies? Zuzuzan Zozozan: Nothing wrong with RP. Don't be a jerk Tae Hyolyn: don't really care for them, no Phae'ra Nireath: I hate pets in general. ---------------------------------------------------- Really?? What do we do to deserved this? I don't think we have done anything to bother them at all.

It's a great start, actually. I like you second character ^^

This is great news indeed. I bet the whole amphitheatre will get flooded!

Hey Esper, I only know a bit about Ishgard, I assumed my quest for lore will encounter more of them. Here is what I got from my Lore Collection ------------------------------------------------------------------------ My native land was once famous for its chocobo stables. No man in Eorzea could speak of the creatures without his thoughts turning naturally to Ishgard. Sadly, however, that time has passed. I left my homeland to accept employment here at the ranch, instructing others in the methods of chocobo husbandry. Yet I have found that it is often I who am the recipient of others' instruction─and on a great many matters! Truly, one can never know what life may hold in store.—Luquelot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The wyvern is a sinuous scalekin that cuts swiftly through the air on large, membranous wings. A less-imposing relative of dragons, wyverns often serve as frontline troops in the endless assault on the fortifications of Ishgard.—Official Website ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Of all the things that are symbolic of the nation of Ishgard, few are more recognized than the dragoon. Born amidst the timeless conflict between men and dragons, these lance-wielding knights have developed an aerial style of combat, that they might better pierce the scaled hides of their mortal foes. Taking to the firmament as though it were an extension of the land, they descend upon the enemy with every onze of their bodies behind the blow. It is this penetrative power that characterizes the dragoon.—Official Website ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you want to know more, simply go to my Lore Collection and find the keyword "Ishgard". If you are interested, I also have a Dialogue Collection. Hope you find these helpful.

I do have a solution but I don't know if this works with everyone. Even with queue, I kept logging in for a minutes or two and I would eventually get in. If it's failed, I will exit the program, sign in again using the client, and log into the game. Seriously though, I swear the game did kick me out even though my connection is running fine. I assumed it was because of the server overload. When this happened, I will use this method, and it works for me.

Now that I think carefully, very sorry because I only thought about it just now, Yda and Papalymo mentioned a flow of aether above the ground and they can prove it because they are using Sharlayan Tech (The wierd binoculars), so I assumed the player moved through that stream. In my own opinion though, Hydaelyn itself is the core of the planet, therefore it is the center of the flow. So, the crystal itself is aether in the densest form and the core of the planet. This is solely my speculation based on the fact that the Mothercrystal is named "Hydaelyn". However, I do not believe player go through this core unless the Echo brings them there, they simply follow the aether stream above ground and manifest themselves near Aetheryte. In my opinion. :dazed:

This is what I had with my Lore Collection, on that you can access through the link in my signature below. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When we die, it is believed that the shock separates our spirits from our corporeal forms. Or bodies are the broken down and are absorbed back into the aetherial river, while the soul is left to journey to its final destination in afterlife. Some call this “returning to the Lifestream.”—Nicia It is said that aetheryte is the solid manifestation of the planet’s lifeblood, aether, and that by touching it, the aether which makes up our bodies resonates with that contained in the crystal. This is called “attunement.” Normally, when one’s body is reduced to aether, it will naturally gravitate to the location with which it resonates the greatest-or one’s “home point.” This is why upon losing consciousness in battle, many wake to find themselves back at an aetheryte. In other words, aetheryte act as lodestones, assuring that the body, in its aetherial form, is not lost to the pull of the greater flow.—Nicia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Hydaelyn you speak of... I am assuming you are talking about the Hydaelyn you encountered in the Main Scenario Quest. The Hydaelyn is refered by Kan-E-Senna as "Mothercrystal". To my believed, that can only be access by the power of Echo. To be safe, I will not spoiled any details about that if you haven't get far enough to the story line. In my Dialogue collection so far, there isn't a connection between Hydaelyn or the Echo with Aether. I hope this titbits of information help you.

I didn't know such thread exist until it was bumped recently! I am collecting, not the pass info, but the present lore that can be obtain through questing and engaging NPCs. If you see my signature below, I have includes the link to my Lore Collection and Dialogue Collection. The thing is, I wasn't sure how to put about all these information in a wiki simply because they are fragmented. You could have specific lore about a place, even tiny bits like the Muy-Tay Beans, to the deceases like the Creeping Death. Not to mentioned the events that involved in various quests, specifically the Main Quest Scenarios. I'm pretty sure most people will find the sheet so confusing to use. The Lore Collection can be utilized by using your browser find function. And it can sort alphabetically by clicking the categories on the top. This way you could find specific information about a term like Wood Wailers or Little Solace. It would do good if any of you could put any of the information I have into your work and appeared on the wiki. Since it is just me, I'm currently focusing on collecting dialogues, but I will make time to sort them out to the Lore Collection. In the mean time, I am requesting help to collect dialogues from Limsa Lominsa's and Ul'dah's Main scenario Quests as well as quests that only appeared under certain condition. I swear, as a Gridanian, I walk into Central Thanalan and found that quests from Lv 1 - LV 19 not there (I know because I played an Ul'dahn before the server wipe). The mind-boggling part is that I had played and finished early level quests in Ul'dah and the immediate areas of Thanalan. I assumed it must be citizen and main quest specific.

It's totally alright, to say the same logic, I played a MUD game called Achaea. When we need to log out, we usually say "my soul is needed elsewhere", or "my soul is tired, and need resting." One of the benefits of being a role-player is the ability to navigate around the game mechanic. In FF XIV, I could just say, "I will retreat back to the inn." And many will know what that's means. The best thing about it, is that there isn't a specific way to go about things, you could have a way of doing it that could spread to the entire linkshell, while another linkshell would do it in a different way. That is totally fine, because an experienced role-player is tolerant about new idea and flexible about it - they will role-play accordingly. Chances are, not more people will asked specifically why you said you are weak yet you have pugilist experience in your skill set displayed on the info windows, because everyone knows it's a game mechanic. If you do worries about it, at the very least you have a reason standing by. Any of the suggested idea will work.

If I could help, I have a Lore Collection of Final Fantasy XIV. I assumed you are creating a lore of your own character, that you might want to start out some place remote than big cities. My lore collection contains more information on Gridanian settlement, but I'll will continue to add entries as soon as I can.

Welcome to RPC Sakarr. You may select either one of the server. Balmung is a legacy server, meaning the V 1.0 player would most likely be there. On the other hand, server tends to be full as of late, so be sure to register a character as soon as possible.

This is a great start for a free company. I have posted my application on the shivtr forum, hope to get progress soon!
