  1. That Friendship Band (and other stuff you get from a Friend Code) is indeed quite nice. Feel free to use my code: 5X8S5CDB (I get stuff too if you use the code and pay for a subscription, so I hope you use it  )
  2. Not quite pointless. First of all there is of course the potential for roleplaying more than one character, but even disregarding that there is one reason for making a couple of alts: In each of the three starting cities (and surrounding areas) there are a number of quests than you can only get if you start in that city, so if you want to see it all you need to create at least three characters, each of which start in a different city. (The unique quests are all level 15 or lower so after all those are done you don't need to worry about missing any more.) There are also some dialogs that are slightly different depending on your starting class/city but nothing major or important.
  3. Well, free stuff is always nice, so... 1) Expeditioner's Set (female) 2) High House Cloche 3) Wind-up Shiva 4) Wind-up Leviathan 5) Plush Cushion minion 6) Orchestrion 7) Toy box 8) Stuffed Mandragora queen 9) Expeditioner's set (male)
  4. Not quite. We know, through the MSQ, that the Company of Heroes beat both Titan and Leviathan in the past - and I don't remember anything that suggests that any of them has the Echo or anything like that. IIRC we are also told that the Immortal Flames beat back Ifrit on a semi-regular basis - albeit usually at a heavy cost.
  5. Even in LOTRO there is only a finite number of neighbourhoods (wards) possible. Large but finite. A few years ago the larger servers did run out of the bigger house types for sale. Solution was to make people lose the houses after a time if they did not pay the weekly upkeep. (They also made it so you could pay for up to 6 months in advance.) That freed up lots of houses that were owned by people who no longer played the game. If they are clever with the coding an empty instance would take up a miniscule amount of resources.
  6. If you are going the transfer route keep in mind that you can transfer up to 8 characters in a single transfer. For that to work they need to all have the same start and destination server, and other transfer requirements also need to be met by all of them. (I think the requirements for character transfers - apart from paying money - is that they are at least 3 days old, and have gone through the introductory scenes so they are out in the open world.)
  7. And with that I am likely leaving the game. This is so broken it is untrue. Over 80% of the new housing taken by individuals. Not much of a surprise there. There are, after all, a lot more indivduals than Free Companies in the game - and most of them would want a house. End result of this update: A few more people and FCs got a house than before, but nowhere near everyone who wanted one. I doubt anyone with half a brain truely expected anything else. Those who have some hope may have expected there to be enough for a chance for something. Sadly greed of players, and SE's intents to create this housing market leave me disheartened. I can find this stuff in RL, I don't need to pay to be subjected to it in a game. While one can always hope, in this case there was never any real hope. Not even a fool's hope. As soon as they revealed how many new houses would be added it was clear that it would not be enough. Not anywhere close to enough. Apparently there have been some people who have bought multiple houses with the intent to sell them and make lots of money. That is bad, but unfortunately not unexpected - that some people are greedy is pretty much a given. But even without those people the amount of available housing would not have been enough. Most players would likely want to have a house of their own (especially on an RP server like Balmung). Same for Free Companies. Now count the number of players and FCs. Compare to the total number of houses. Realize that SE would need to add many, many more wards to avoid housing shortages. For this patch several hundred new houses were added. It would likely have needed to be several thousand.
