..That last point makes entirely too much sense. I think you've just caused an existential crisis for me. But yes, from the way Enix describes their universe, the ease of travelling between Worlds in related to similarity. I've actually RP'd with someone who did this very, very well. So well in fact they actually just thought they'd traveled to a new, undiscovered part of their -own- world (FFXII, for the curious.) The discovery of the traveling itself was a big RP plot, in fact. One thing to remember is -you- don't have to be the one to transport your character. It can be some higher power, for purposes either benign or malevolent. Perhaps you are in some powerful creature or mages way, but they're limited in how to dispose of you. Perhaps your deity favors you and saved your life by tossing you through a dimensional tear. Perhaps a trickster-esque entity was just bored and experimented with dimensional portals and you tripped through one. Or perhaps a war or some such tore open a whole in reality that just happened to open up in Eorzea. The traveling itself can be a side-effect of other events. There are a lot of ways to do it. The Void supposedly exists in all FF worlds, in some form or another. Be creative, and don't let 'expectations of how RP needs to be' ruin your fun. But on the same token, doing RP with an 'Outsider' character also has a higher difficulty setting to be done well.

I'd just like to add, since I haven't seen it here yet. You can take away character agency just as easily with future tense as with Present and Past tense. I see examples of it in some RP at the Grindstone on occasion. Example: Rodney would make ready to swing his axe at Steve, if the blow hit, it would sever him in two. Using future tense in this way restricts your opponents ability to decide how a blow would hit them, and is perhaps the most annoying use of future tense I see in RP. Your tense and writing isn't what matters in RP, your intent to allow your opponent to respond freely is.

The event this week has been postponed, due to The festival of the Hunt. We'll be back next week.
-
Our winner this week is Reiner Dorne. He made walls. Just walls. Next week, we'll be constructing very basic airships. Probably terribly.
-
Starting up the Carpenters event at the Moraby Drydocks in twenty minutes. By the piles of wood at 25, 33.
-
No worries, we run every week, barring some catastrophe or another.
-
Spectating is both allowed and encouraged. Usually, there are more spectators than competitors.
-
This week Artisan's will be doing an event for Carpentry. Chairs, poles..The whole nine yards. Still at the Moraby Drydocks, at the same time. 9pm EST.
-
Just to clarify, since things changed since I was last able to post, the event is today, right now, at Moraby Drydocks once again. Apologies for any confusion, moving interstate made organising a bit troubling. All will be back to normal from now on.
-
The event this week will run on Thursday, and will be Run by Archemides Fontaine. The same location and time, however! This is due to a delay in the shipping of my stuff to my new address. Things will go back to normal next week.

Our winner this week is Flynt Knoltros, with his mostly well made spearhead! He won 100k gil, to learn how to do details a bit better! Thanks to Zazanther Rerenther and Jakatolui Noyakir for their slightly misshapen ring, and over-weighted sword, respectively! The event this week had no teams, due to a lack of participants, so I may consider dropping the requirement altogether. Next week, we will have a competition of Culinarians and their (hopefully) only slightly charred works, at the Bismarck in Limsa Lominsa.
-
Starting up now! Ever so slightly late!
-
Aye, the time for all these events every week will be 9pm EST. Though I'll modify the main post to show the time in more than just the title, just in case folks miss it. The events will run in different locations, depending on the craft we're focusing on that week. Next week is the Bismarck in Limsa, for example. Three guesses what the theme of that one will be. Anyone who wants to participate but doesn't have a partner organized, fret not! I'll be pairing/teaming any lone wolves together on the day, just turn up a bit early! It's great to see some interest in this! I was starting to get a -mite- bit disheartened.

The first event will held at the Moraby Drydocks in Lower La Noscea, this friday (The 24/7)

Pinned to the noticeboards in the adventurers guild, and tacked to those within the crafting guilds of the realm, a multitude of blue and yellow fliers entreat onlookers to a contest of hammer and awl. ---- Amateur Artisans The Heartwood Trading Company is full glad to present an opportunity for novices and artisans alike to both learn and further their skills in the crafting of the realms required goods. Each week, the crafts mistress Korah Nellemond will be hosting a contest for those less inclined to the disciplines of the Hand to compete in small teams of three or less to test their mettle against their fellow inexperienced initiates. The most adept with unfamiliar tools will receive a generous sum to further their new-found trade. The discipline of focus for the first of these competitions is the working of hard metals into arms and armor. Those more inclined to the procurement of materials should inquire with Heartwood for employment opportunities to supply the event with required materials. Those skilled in a trade are urged to contact the event organizer if they've an interest in overseeing an event related to their trade. Rules: 1.This event is open to those characters who are unfamiliar with Tradecraft IN CHARACTER, as a means to further interest in the less martial paths throughout Eorzea. Anyone is welcome to attend, but characters that are experienced blacksmiths will not be able to compete in an event focused on their trade. If anyone is interested in a competition for characters -with- skill in a trade, keep an eye out for a future event. 2. Until I have the event more established, or get some volunteers to help observe our aspiring artisans, I'll only be accepting up to four teams of three characters or less. Preference will be given to those who contact ahead of time. 3. Sabotage of opposing teams is strictly forbidden. Anyone caught doing so will be immediately disqualified. 4. You cannot work alone, a partner or team is required to participate. How it works: Each team will get a total of six 'synthesis rolls', to be done with the /random in game feature after a post about what it is they are trying to do with their creation. For a team of three, each member gets two each, for a partnership, three. Working without a team or partner will not be allowed. After all 'actions' for that team are completed, the total will be tallied. The team with the highest average (Not the highest total) will be the winner. Time and Place: Fridays at 9pm EST! Location for the next event will be posted a few days before it.

"Digging in the Dirt" Connection Cross Post
Korinth replied to Yssen's topic in Chronicled Connections
I'm pretty interested in this, myself. Not as an investigator, though. As someone to be investigated, and thus dragged into this lovely plot! Garlean Magitech technician Spends time around Southern Thanalan This is suspicious -
To weigh in on this one, we're also ignoring the existence of magic and enchanted objects in this. In all likelihood Gil issued by 'official' minters is probably enchanted in a unique and obvious way, to make counterfeiting that much more difficult.
-
I play a Garlean deserter post-carteneau, if you count that! Also, I need to post more here.

Essentially you've registered a second account instead of adding your collectors edition to your beta account. It's not really a problem, but that's why there is two. If you want to fix it so there is only one, just contact Square customer support.

Sadly, I'll be starting an eight hour shift at exactly the time beta opens..When I get home though, I have baked good, all the baked goods. And tea..It seems tea is popular around these parts.
