Kieran

Coming back to the game, have characters on both Balmung and Mateus and as the title states, looking for everything and anything (friends, enemies, FC, contracts, work -short term, long term- etc.) Balmung - Have a main that has a very in depth story, not sure I wanted to touch or mess with that so made a Xaela Au Ra. Pretty much a blank slate so can fit pretty much anywhere. Mateus - Midlander Hyur, very detailed backstory, young guy looking for his place in the world and trying to figure out what to do with himself. Chaotic Good character that is rather sociable. I didn't even try to get a house on Balmung as I didn't want to give up my apartment and end up with nothing. On Mateus however, I was able to snag a medium plot, was number 39 in that queue. Large and Medium houses went as fast there as I'm hearing they did here. This took my FC by surprise because we had hoped Mateus would be a bit slower in the land grab and we'd be able to get a large FC house. Housing is something I have wanted for years as well and just had to settle with an apartment. Even got the plot I wanted which makes it all the sweeter. 8-)

Thanks for all the suggestions and sharing what has and hasn't worked for you in the past. I took Liadan's suggestion and reached out to a rather social friend of Kieran's OOCly and things are in the works. Thanks again!

Thanks for the suggestions, both of which I'm afraid I have been doing/have done (emote actions instead of words and threw up a making connections post) for that very reason of not wanting to be seen as a wallflower nor do I want to RP one. I have also toned down his attire to try to be more inviting as the below is a comment made from someone in a random Leveling Duty Finder (I found it hilarious so had to SS it!). I didn't want to double post but wanted to reply to what Virella wrote. "What I'm trying to say is that some characters just don't work for certain people due to whatever reason. Perhaps I'm reading a bit too much into what little you posted though, but I'd just ask yourself whether you're enjoying this character/character trait first and foremost. Because to me it sounds pretty drastic that you're considering to create another character and dual box in order to make the original character work." I think you may be onto something however for some reason I keep coming back to Kieran as I really do like the character, just as you said, struggling to make it work. I have this bad habit of making alts in an attempt to try out a different character and this is a stab at myself, but these characters are whims and thus shallow. Which I think is why I keep going back to Kieran. And umm, the wing man has already been created, I just haven't actually done it yet. I had a 'WTF' moment at the last minute when I realized I was about to RP with myself to this extent.

I've been RP'ing for a long time (EQ Ruins of Kunark for a time reference) and I have always RP'd characters that are rather outgoing or who could actually hold a conversation with new people. Enter Kieran. While not exactly anti-social, going up to someone he doesn't know to hold a conversation just isn't going to happen. Nodding is about all you'll get out of him on the first meeting in a social setting. Now as you'll expect, not many people want to RP after that (which I completely understand). Kieran is a very complex character and will warm up to people in a social setting but it takes time and getting to know the person...or rum, lots and lots of rum. Which is how he has made the few friends/acquaintances he currently has. Once he actually knows someone he is a rather enjoyable person to be around and acts fairly normal. So my question out to the masses is, how do you get a character like this involved in the RP scene? I have thought about double boxing and RP'ing my own wing man, but I'm not too keen on having to RP with myself to this extent. Have RP'd my own villains, long long siblings, etc. in the past, but the 'wing wo/man' position would be someone Kieran has gotten close to.

Kieran has done some bodyguard work in the past and prefers to stick to the Shroud. Have some other possible hooks I'll PM you about. I also need to get some RP going with Thunderbolt/Kasi so perhaps this could be a meeting for all three (just a thought).

I guess I never got the whole hashtag thing and now that's in Tumblr and yeah. I'm painfully behind when it comes to social media.

So I'm an old guy and just not understanding the point of Tumblr. I get character blogs, back in my day lots of people did Wordpress Blogs for their character and what not. So is Tumblr just a more picture/visual oriented way of keeping a blog nowadays?

PMs replied to and as for Kasi, as you mentioned there are several ins. Kieran is horrible with a Lance and wields it like a Greatsword so would be looking for someone to at least teach him the basics. If she's learning how to wield a Greatsword could also do some sparring as a way to gauge their progress and of course, just for fun.

So I really need to RP, yet my character isn't one who would just jump into a friendly convo at the local bar so it's difficult for spur of the moment RP. Have thought about doing a RP personality makeover for the character, but thought I'd post this here first. First and foremost, Kieran is a merc - known enough in some circles, virtually unknown in others. Around the Shroud he'd be known, Uldah not so much and Limsa it depends on who you talk to. So anyone that needs a job done or help with a job? Perfect! Teacher - very handy with a blade, both two handed, one handed and an axe. Also very well versed in hand to hand combat. If your character is looking to expand their fighting skills or learn some self defense? Kieran could be the guy you're looking for! Student - with the above said, he totally lacks when it comes to the Bow and Lance - he'd love to hone his skill on those and would love to find a teacher. Need an eager student? Sparring Partner - Kieran LOVES fights, even if he loses every single one, he learns from it. Want to keep your character fit or looking for a punching bag? Etc. - Have an idea but need a side kick or someone to go along with something insane? PM me and lets see if we can't figure a way that Kieran could be that guy.

Our characters need to meet as Kieran is ALWAYS wearing a black mask as well. Would make for some interesting RP I'm thinkin.

I really like this idea, I'll be contacting a leader within the next few days. Leveling a Dark Knight as I really enjoy tanking, I don't have any issues with the leveling dungeons but anything beyond that I wouldn't really pop into Duty Finder for.
