  1. Is this LS still active? If so, I'd like an invite my character. He's a Doman refugee Raen Au Ra.
  2. Hi. I'm bumping this thread. Sadly, the FC I was in fell through. And a bit of an update was given to my schedule. Pretty much I'll be around for a week, then disappear for a week as far as any RP. Hope that helps out some.
  3. Uh, your link isn't working if there was supposed to be one? Still, it's up in the air at least 'til I find one. I'm currently looking for the previous poster. As far as private investigation FCs, I'm not sure how much help I would be there. Let alone with a bar. Heh.
  4. That's mostly because I was working out the background details. Here's the link to the completed background so far for him. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=18936 I'm looking over the information now. It does definitely look like a good fit.
  5. I like it! Now I am curious what you're going to do with the fellow Has he settled down a bit or is he still rather wild? Still rather wild at times.
  6. Bumping the thread. Thank you guys very much for the help. How's the background look now? (And wow that was a lot of lore to go through!) I ended up rewriting the entire thing with all of the lore knowledge.
  7. Hi, thanks for the interest, but not sure if he would join a company that is morally questionable at this time. While I, as a player, can understand some of the good of the community brought about by such companies, I'm not sure my character would overall be happy in one despite how open his background is. With his being Au Ra specifically and the lore that I've been pointed to, the questionable nature of your company isn't exactly going to be welcoming to him since he has the whole wandering bug. Thanks for your interest definitely, but I'm going to have to decline at the moment until I can flesh out his personality a bit more.
  8. Hi. Well, I'll try to make this short. Stuff went down with my old non-RP FC on Exodus, and I recently transferred to Balmung like two or three weeks ago. I've been playing the game around a half a year nearly (I think in the next month or two I finally get the 180 day veteran reward?) so I'm pretty much a new player to the game. I'm looking for an RP FC to help me get into the groove of RP on FFXIV. I'm more of a casual player by unfortunate IRL necessity. I tend to log in when I can and play, but IRL comes first for me. If people are on and want to RP, I'll go with that over trying to achieve higher levels of some sort. I will also gladly take advice and/or suggestions on play style to better help me help the group I'm in. Otherwise, my character is a "wanderer" auri by nature who did happen to like gardening. He's an active sort prone to semi-philosophical quotes and blaming them on his grandfather's teachings. As an idea of the archetype I tend to shoot for, think of it as the wandering hero who shows up in town and drifts along. An FC for him would give him a place to rest from his travels and some place to talk with the others out there. The wandering also helps as an easy explaination for whenever RL strikes me down hard. Overall, his background is pretty open and I'm working on it as I go. I hope to find a home through this post and the forums because I miss being in an FC the most since I lost my old one.
  9. Wow. Lots of lore and lots information to go by. Definitely going to be revamping in the next day or two once I find time to sit down and read it all.
  10. Thanks for the input. Gridania is what I meant. Could you specify more on the Elementals accepting him? I've not delved deeply into the Conjurer's back story, nor those of the Archer if the Elementals have meaning there. I'm open to his adoptive parents being alive. I didn't realize there seemed to be so many going with that sort of back story. It just seemed fitting for the whole "wandering" archetype I was aiming for as far as his tendencies. The rejection of his adoptive culture was not intended, but I had intended them to be fellow auri. I realize I didn't specify what races they were at all there. I already editted it to correct my city naming mistake. Not sure how I got that wrong considering I've spent a considerable amount of game time there. I'm just waiting clarification on the Elementals idea to see what that might entail and how much trouble that might be.
  11. Hi. I'm still fairly new, and started putting together a background for my character. I still need to see what outfits I can get for him, but so far I've had some fun with him in a few encounters here and there. My problem is my lack of knowledge on the lore and what is/isn't okay despite some researching the past weeks. So, any comments/suggestions? The character seems a bit lack luster to me so far. Name: Tomasu Kusakiri Race: Raen Au Ra Profession: Wanderering Blade/Adventurer Interests: Gardening, Wandering, Philosophy Background: Tomasu Kusakiri is a refugee of Doma, brought across by the ships leaving that area after the Garlean desecration of their homeland. Born in Doma, the man grew up with a loving family who's fate escapes him to this day. Growing up, he was like much other children and an active if inquisitive life that lead him to learning the ways of the sword and spear under his parents to help him better face the dangers of the world. Despite their attempts to discipline him, none of the lessons really took root at that early stage of his life. He seemed more wild than anything with his skills, and often could be found playing in the woods around his home village. Once he reached roughly his teenage years, Tomasu was still pretty wild. Still working in the woods with other youths to hunt, track, and otherwise make a living. He would help as much as he could around the house while his father or mother were away at their small merchant stand or playing security for other merchants. During his teenage years, the Garlean destruction of Doma happened. One of the refugees, Tomasu was separated from his family. Forced aboard a ship despite being armed, he sought to help out the other refugees as much as he could while doing his best to not break down. It wasn't until the ship landed and he heard of their move to Mor Dhona that he decided to help by striking out on his own. It took many months and a couple of encounters with Garlean scout squads from near Mor Dhona before he struck out on his own. By then, he had decided his vengeance was at least mostly satisfied and decided to do something that he would rather have done with his parents' leave, wherever they were now. Explore the world and find some place for him to call home. It was this exploring that lead him to Gridania and attempting to settle there. Staying in Quarrymill, he went through the judgement of the Elementals and was found acceptable. The oddity of being judged by the Elementals sits with him to this day and he respects the Twelveswood for it being as close to the Doman's religion as it may come to be in Eorzea. Wandering the forests, he frequently wanted to Limisa Lominsa, Mor Dhona, and Ul'dah via airship or aethyrite to ask for news on his parents and still does so to this day. He has settled into the wandering life and enjoys it despite one day dreaming of finding a home for himself somewhere in Eorzea, if not one day returning to Doma or Ala Mhigo to help against the occupation there. EDIT: Rewrote the background on 3/29/2017 since there was a ton of lore I didn't know that responders to the initial background helped with.
  12. If it helps, a lot of the Au Ra of both types that have come to Eorzea and there because they were fleeing from Othard due to the actions of the Garleans. So, if you need something for your hero to be vengeful against - the Garlemald's a good fallback. Also, there's two (I think?) Xaela tribes that are usually in conflict and one that is basically just mean to the rest, so there's that option if you don't want to go the Anti-Empire route. Of course, being deposed could also provide a reason why your character is wandering for peaceful reasons. You've been uprooted from your homeland, so now you're just trying to find that little piece of your own again in Eorzea - perhaps a spot that reminds you most of home, or maybe even one that is as least like it as possible to avoid having those bittersweet memories always at the forefront of your mind. Excellent suggestions there. He is a Raen, however, so not sure the Xaela would be a good idea overall there. I'm definitely planning on running with the Garlean bit.
  13. I'll look into that one. Thank you. Definitely interested in not being completely city tied here.
  14. Hi. I'm new to Balmung, but not new to RP. I'm also looking into possibly getting into FCs after a bad run on the previous server I was on. In any case, I'm working on putting together a background and would like some input to help with making it? My character is a Raen Au Ra that I would like to be possibly a crafter of some sort or "wandering hero" type that doesn't really like to stay one place for long. As an idea of the wandering hero, think of it as the chinese martial artist that just doesn't stay in one place but wanders around looking for some place peaceful to stay the rest of his life or the vengeance seeking hero looking for the killer of a family member/mentor/person who framed them. I am having trouble finding more on the lore for the auri themselves, however, as well as some of the Doman region and it's history in the FFXIV world. So, hoping to get some help on this as well as creating some background to go with it. The research I've done so far suggests that a displaced Raen could be wandering and looking for a new home or the like, and I am thinking I may go with that since they have the whole Doman razing issue in place already as far as the lore.
  15. Hi. I just recently transferred to Balmung and I was wondering where some of the hang outs are for RP? I know there's the Quicksand, but that's all I've found so far.
  16. If you're already willing to transfer I say 100% go to Balmung. I did it and have no regrets. If anything I wish I made a whole roster of characters to transfer over. (Mainly didn't since I was new to RP and unsure how much I'd like it but in hindsight I should've done it anyway). There are many many public events and people on Balmung willing to RP as I'm sure many of the people here will tell you. If you have any questions or need an RP partner feel free to pm me. Thanks for the advice. I transfered to Balmung. Now to flesh out my character's stories and see how that works out.
  17. Hi. I'm not new to RPing, but I'm looking for which server I should transfer to that I'm likely to find RP? I'm looking for something of a fresh start after my old FC's leader tossed all the active players out. Still not sure why, but I do like roleplay and I do want to break into having some fun again in FFXIV. My current focus has been some PvP to get the cool Garo outfits, but I'm willing to help out when I have the time and do what I can to help out an FC when I have the gil to spare for it. I've been mainly playing a DPS, but I'm looking for people that might be willing to teach me to tank as well. Otherwise, I'm looking to mainly get into the RP. I love the storyline and would love to incorporate a bit of it in such as the forthcoming move to the eastern areas of the game. I hope there's a place for me on Balmung or Gilgamesh, and I hope that someone can point me at which ones are pretty active or not? Thanks.
  18. Hi there. I'm new to Final Fantasy XIV and loving it enough to have already bought the expansion. So, my problem is I'm on a different one than the unofficial Roleplay servers of Gilgamesh and Balmung to my knowledge. I'm hoping to find a Linkshell or FC to call home on Exodus since most of my IRL family currently plays there. I am currently looking at making an Au Ra Raen to play around with. Class undecided as I just got the expansion. The novice network, sadly, has not been helpful in pointing me towards anyone so far despite their help otherwise.
