The first idea is awesome! I thought I was sold on it till I read the second idea. It's a shame you can't do both. Simultaneously I mean. Those two characters together would be quite memorable. The Rp writes itself.

I think there is mentioned some bitterness between the duskwight elezen and the wildwood elezen. As a duskwight I have never RPed any such animosity, however some others might. It's not a mandatory thing but perhaps more closely tied to how a character was raised and what he or she was taught to believe. More traditional characters will adhere more to their culture's lore where more contemporary characters who have been a part of Eorzea's melting pot will be a bit more progressive in their views of the other races/clans - generally speaking. I hope this helps a little. It does! I guess after Forgotten Realms and a ton of Elder Scrolls RP exposure I have a smidge of preconceived notions about the tension between the different peoples. So far this community and the game itself seem like much brighter places! It's gonna so fun!:lol:

Hi All, I'm new 'round these parts and I have been going over my RP characters' backstory and I have run into some questions concerning other RP'ers that I would like to see how you all might have handled. For one, the Roegaedyn are competitive by nature, so are you RP'ing your Roe's as such? Especially with other Roe? What about the polyamorous family units of the Seekers? Is anyone Rp'ing that? Or if you Rp some other race, what do your characters think of the traditional Miqote family groups? And for the Dusk Elezan Rp'ers out there. Do your characters hold anything against the Hyurs? Or even vice versa for the history between the two which the Dusk Elezen still seem to be suffering from culturally? Would this stuff be filed under "Hard RP"? Just wondering how much prep I need to avoid breaking the fourth wall. :dazed: Thanks in advance for the help!!

I switched over from Cactuar to Gilgamesh and was pleasantly surprised to find Rp'ing going on here and there. I didn't join in because I didn't want to be rude. Seems like it's equivalent to jumping into a private conversation irl.

I've been a huge Cyclops fan since I was a little kid. At first what I admired was his responsibility as leader. While other more roguish *cough Wolverine cough* X-men came and went, there were very few characters that put the idealism of the team ahead of their own interests and Scott Summers was the first among them. And now that he's a "villain" to many characters and readers alike I see it as a very reasonable road that he's traveled. After all, no one has waved the flag for Human/Mutant equality more than he in public and in battle and it's brought him nothing but anguish and still nowhere closer to his goals. I understand he's now a very polarizing guy but that makes him even more interesting to me. He's no longer a Superman-esque primary-colored hero but a flawed individual and I can't wait to see what's in store for him.

Def worth starting a thread. Just one thing, I'm trying to log in and it says "Unable to obtain a World list" on the NA/EU side (JP group loads just fine) when I get the final stage of character creation. Am I doing something wrong?? Edit: Even when picking an already made character, the NA/EU side is blank. I checked maintenance schedule on Beta Forums and maintenance should have been over and hour and a half ago. hmmm

I'm hoping this is a precursor to other stuff from the FF universe being added. If I could wield Squall's gunblade then I am a happy Hyur indeed. btw, do you guys think gunblades will make their way into FFXIV? I see the Garleans with them so I'd like to say yes....

This sounds great Rock. I'm new to the whole RP thing and honestly although I know Balmung would be fine, there is definitely something to be said for being there, at the the inception of a great thing. Much appreciated!

Hail to all. I just found your wonderful site while I deal with withdrawals from waiting for the beta and after perusing it for a couple of hours, I'm sold that this is a place to spend some time. MMO Exp: I have dabbled in a few MMO's over the years. But I can't call myself experienced. What I am however is a long-time Final Fantasy player (starting way back in FFVII) and I NEED to play this game indefinitely. RP exp: I'm a noob... But I have always been interested in RP'ing. The imagination and dedication is something I admire greatly. Besides, as far as I see it, I personally saved Midgard.:thumbsup: I found my way here after seeing a link Alothia pinned on some other site. Thanks, Alothia!! As far as ideas for characters, My main will be my namesake, Desmond Aryll, an introspective first son to a middle class Uldah family who was slowly replaced by his younger more ambitious brother as heir apparent. So Desmond willingly leaves in favor of being supplanted. As an alt I have some ideas for a Miqote. More on that some other time....
