Did Koji or anyone else from the lore team ever straight up say that Doman language and Japanese language were 100% one in the same? Do we know if Domans even have their own entire language, aside from the small handful of unique terms we've seen thus far?

 

I ask because I'm not particularly a fan of the idea of taking conjecture and presenting it like it's fact or the most logical conclusion one should draw. Doma is inspired by Japanese culture... but that doesn't mean that Doma IS Japan. That probably sounds pretty obvious to most of us, but there are some people who don't seem to quite get that.

No, to both. That is why this thread is a thing.

 

I really wish we could get some answers because stuff like this is why I am not pulling the trigger and jumping fully into RP in this game.

Why not ask about this the next time there's a live letter Q & A? If enough people ask, there's a good chance the questions will get answers.

 

Its a better route than consulting a group of players that go off their own personal and oftentimes conflicting headcanons.

 

This goes for any lore question that can't be answered with a bit of digging through quest/item/NPC dialogue. Our word is not official lore (though some would swear up and down that it should be taken as such)

I play the game in Japanese...

There are SOME differences in the lore (specifically the terms used to refer to jobs, groups of people--scions are 暁...which means dawn--and some other minor things). but it is all generally the same.

For Domans speaking another language...it never really occurred to me.  Their Japanese is a tad bit more...archaic if anything? But not a completely different language.

Only time I've seen a different language was with the dragons...
