Korinth Posted July 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2015 Pinned to the noticeboards in the adventurers guild, and tacked to those within the crafting guilds of the realm, a multitude of blue and yellow fliers entreat onlookers to a contest of hammer and awl. ---- Amateur Artisans The Heartwood Trading Company is full glad to present an opportunity for novices and artisans alike to both learn and further their skills in the crafting of the realms required goods. Each week, the crafts mistress Korah Nellemond will be hosting a contest for those less inclined to the disciplines of the Hand to compete in small teams of three or less to test their mettle against their fellow inexperienced initiates. The most adept with unfamiliar tools will receive a generous sum to further their new-found trade. The discipline of focus for the first of these competitions is the working of hard metals into arms and armor. Those more inclined to the procurement of materials should inquire with Heartwood for employment opportunities to supply the event with required materials. Those skilled in a trade are urged to contact the event organizer if they've an interest in overseeing an event related to their trade. Rules: 1.This event is open to those characters who are unfamiliar with Tradecraft IN CHARACTER, as a means to further interest in the less martial paths throughout Eorzea. Anyone is welcome to attend, but characters that are experienced blacksmiths will not be able to compete in an event focused on their trade. If anyone is interested in a competition for characters -with- skill in a trade, keep an eye out for a future event. 2. Until I have the event more established, or get some volunteers to help observe our aspiring artisans, I'll only be accepting up to four teams of three characters or less. Preference will be given to those who contact ahead of time. 3. Sabotage of opposing teams is strictly forbidden. Anyone caught doing so will be immediately disqualified. 4. You cannot work alone, a partner or team is required to participate. How it works: Each team will get a total of six 'synthesis rolls', to be done with the /random in game feature after a post about what it is they are trying to do with their creation. For a team of three, each member gets two each, for a partnership, three. Working without a team or partner will not be allowed. After all 'actions' for that team are completed, the total will be tallied. The team with the highest average (Not the highest total) will be the winner. Time and Place: Fridays at 9pm EST! Location for the next event will be posted a few days before it. 2 Link to comment

Kamome Posted July 23, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 23, 2015 This is wonderful! Would anyone like to partner up with me? My character is an alchemist ICly inexperienced with smithing but has seen it around her most of her life because she is from La Noscea. Are there any La Noscea/Limsa-based character who would team up? : D Link to comment

My character is an alchemist ICly inexperienced with smithing but has seen it around her most of her life because she is from La Noscea. Are there any La Noscea/Limsa-based character who would team up? : D Flynt has been slowly working at the art of Blacksmithing (and is still pretty bad at it >.>) for a few months now, so this might be something REALLY cool for him to try his hand at. Also, M'isha Flynt was originally born in Limsa so maybe we can work something out beforehand to get these two on a team if you are still looking for an inexperienced partner in crime! crafting! Zanther Posted July 24, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 24, 2015 Hum...sounds intresting. Zazanther has been debaiting about Goldsmithing for a while now and this might be a good thing for him to participate in. Link to comment
abnormalnomad Posted July 24, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 24, 2015 I'm really interested in attending this on my Roegadyn, Dhemitar! Although, I have to ask, when is this going to be held? It's today (7/24), Moraby Drydocks in La Noscea, but at what time? Would probably be very useful to have that in the main post! Link to comment
banndsand Posted July 24, 2015 Share #7 Posted July 24, 2015 My Jakatolui might make an appearance. She thinks she's an expert blacksmith, but... eh, she really isn't. I might have to coerce her into going. EDIT: I'm really interested in attending this on my Roegadyn, Dhemitar! Although, I have to ask, when is this going to be held? Makyn Loneseeker Posted July 24, 2015 Share #8 Posted July 24, 2015 This is very interesting, and I was trying to find a way for Makyn to get into blacksmith. Probably won't be able to attend tonight, though. :c Link to comment

Though I'll modify the main post to show the time in more than just the title, just in case folks miss it. The events will run in different locations, depending on the craft we're focusing on that week. Next week is the Bismarck in Limsa, for example. Three guesses what the theme of that one will be. Anyone who wants to participate but doesn't have a partner organized, fret not! I'll be pairing/teaming any lone wolves together on the day, just turn up a bit early! It's great to see some interest in this! I was starting to get a -mite- bit disheartened. Link to comment

Korinth Posted July 25, 2015 Author Share #12 Posted July 25, 2015 Our winner this week is Flynt Knoltros, with his mostly well made spearhead! He won 100k gil, to learn how to do details a bit better! Thanks to Zazanther Rerenther and Jakatolui Noyakir for their slightly misshapen ring, and over-weighted sword, respectively! The event this week had no teams, due to a lack of participants, so I may consider dropping the requirement altogether. Next week, we will have a competition of Culinarians and their (hopefully) only slightly charred works, at the Bismarck in Limsa Lominsa. Link to comment
abnormalnomad Posted July 25, 2015 Share #13 Posted July 25, 2015 Ack! I missed this! I wish I could have been there! My apologies! ;_; I won't be able to attend the next one, but I'll definitely try to be there for the one on 8/7! Link to comment
banndsand Posted July 25, 2015 Share #14 Posted July 25, 2015 Jakatolui had a lot of fun, as did I. I look forward to spectating next week. Thanks for organising it! Link to comment

NefariousNut Posted July 29, 2015 Share #17 Posted July 29, 2015 New fliers adorn the decorated walls of the Adventurers' Guilds and pubs, covering the old posters advertising the Amateur Artisans competition. Preference will be given to those who contact ahead of time. If by chance turn-out is huge, it is entirely at the administrator's discretion to add or subtract more teams. 3. Korinth Posted August 1, 2015 Author Share #21 Posted August 1, 2015 Just to clarify, since things changed since I was last able to post, the event is today, right now, at Moraby Drydocks once again. Apologies for any confusion, moving interstate made organising a bit troubling. All will be back to normal from now on. Link to comment
Korinth Posted August 6, 2015 Author Share #22 Posted August 6, 2015 This week Artisan's will be doing an event for Carpentry. Chairs, poles..The whole nine yards. Still at the Moraby Drydocks, at the same time. 9pm EST. Link to comment
Rosekitten Posted August 6, 2015 Share #23 Posted August 6, 2015 Is spectating allowed? My character once she recovers from her injuries would love to hang about an event like this. Though her trade only lays in metal work. ^^; Beisdes.. never know what tricks or ideas you can gather or be inspired by watching other crafts and the aspiring crafters. Link to comment

Rosekitten Posted August 6, 2015 Share #25 Posted August 6, 2015 That isn't always a bad thing. ^^ Before I took a break from the game some time back I was trying to find a sort of apprentice for my character but that didn't seem to be a popular idea at the time. So this was really right up where I wanted to come back into the game at. :3 Sadly I will probably miss this one just due to ic reasons and such. Link to comment
