Transfer of EU Data Center (CHAOS) to Europe

October 2015 is approaching, which in the timeline YoshiP and others have talked about, is the move of the EU servers to be physically located in the EU.

 

All worlds in Chaos Data Center will undergo a 3-5 day maintenance to accompany this...

Affected worlds: Cerberus / Lich / Moogle / Odin / Phoenix / Ragnarok / Shiva / Zodiark

 

The transfer will be done automatically.

 

If you are on the affected worlds and have a subscription, your subscription will be extended for the number of days the maintenance takes.

 

For those in Chaos data center who do not like being forced into this move or are NA players playing on Chaos, it's possible you might see the delay in actions and have more lag. If so, a free World transfer is being transferred for the character IN a Chaos data center world TO Elemental, Mana, Gaia, Aether or Primal data centers for one week.

To ensure that players living in Europe have a more enjoyable experience in FINAL FANTASY XIV, an additional data center has been established in Europe. The Chaos data center, which has been recommended for European players, will be transferred to this new location. Furthermore, all Worlds within the Chaos data center are scheduled to undergo maintenance for three to five days while the transfer takes place.

 

Overview

The Chaos data center recommended for European players will be transferred to a new location based in Europe. All character data saved on the Chaos data center will be transferred automatically. There will be no need to change settings on the launcher or in the Data Center Selection interface after logging in, nor will you be required to undergo additional procedures prior to the transfer.

Players residing in Europe should experience reduced network latency and lag when playing on any Worlds within the Chaos data center.

 

Maintenance

In preparation for the relocation of the Chaos data center, all character data must be transferred to the new data center location. To facilitate this transfer, the Chaos data center and all associated Worlds are scheduled to undergo maintenance for three to five days. An announcement will be made at later date when the maintenance schedule has been finalized.

Subscription Period Extensions

In order to compensate players inconvenienced by this extended maintenance, those who meet the following requirements will have their subscriptions extended by the number of days required for maintenance:

 

Service accounts containing characters on the Worlds within the Chaos data center (Cerberus / Lich / Moogle / Odin / Phoenix / Ragnarok / Shiva / Zodiark) before Friday, September 18, 2015 at 9:00 (GMT).

Service accounts with an active subscription.

 

World Transfers

Because the Chaos data center is being relocated, certain players may find they are no longer playing on a desirable World. In order to address this issue, players will be allowed to transfer from Worlds within the Chaos data center to Worlds within the Elemental, Gaia, Mana, Aether, or Primal data centers free of charge for one week.

 

Residents in the North American region playing on the Chaos data center may begin to experience issues with latency after the transition. We ask that you try the game after the transfer, and if you experience connectivity issues disruptive to gameplay, consider using the free World transfer service while it is available.

 

* The free World transfer service will not apply to characters moved from the Elemental, Gaia, Mana, Aether, or Primal data centers to the Chaos data center.

 

As with normal World transfers, more than three days must have passed since last using this service. Please note that when applying for a World transfer via the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station, the total balance for any characters transferred from the Chaos data center should appear as $0.00. If your total balance is not $0.00 before finalizing your transaction, please confirm you are transferring characters from Worlds applicable to the free World transfer service.

I don't know if this can work... But if you get a free transfer, you could potentially create a character on the Chaos Data Center before the maintenance and transfer it to Balmung to bypass the restrictions, for free.

Well, if a character is created now it would be probably eligible for the free transfer.

Thank you so much for this info!  I'm waiting for the free transfer to happen before I transfer my RP character to Balmung, and it's really nice to know when that will actually be.

 

And yes, I did create that character on Shiva specifically to take advantage of the free transfer. I'll let you know whether it works or not.

I can confirm the free transfers from Chaos do in fact work. I just moved 3 level 1 alts over FOR FREE to Balmung

I wanted two friends to take advantage of this from back when it was announced but their subscriptions are currently inactive and when I went to the Mogstation to verify everything was above board first, I noticed that Balmung wasn't listed. The hopeful side of me wonders if this is because I already have all eight slots occupied on Balmung, but apparently the World Transfer System was adjusted some time ago so that you could not move to a world that has Creation Restrictions currently imposed against it, which is practically all of the time in the case of Balmung.

 

Could I trouble anyone to see if Balmung is at least listed for them should you not have all eight slots taken? I guess anyone who successfully transferred did so soon after today's maintenance when the servers were open, however.

Well, the information's been out for a month at least.

 

 

It is possible. The announcement for the transfers is for 1 week. They did not note if there is truly a deadline for when the characters could be made on Chaos Data Center to move to the others... however it is also very possible that it could be restricted.

I just wanted to play it safe since the only times Balmung would ever open(outside of the moments directly before and after a maintenance) were in the early hours when less people were online, so I didn't want to take a chance and ask my friend to resubscirbe to take advantage of the transfer only to find that it wasn't even listed.

That's good~ Remember there's 1 mil gil limit (on character) + 500k on each retainer. If they have more gil, try to help them do market research to see what they can buy on their server to recoup gil loss in the transfer.

 

They can't have a housing plot, need to be FC-less and no private room. ;3
