Hosting some stuff to do during the Nov 9th downtime

Hi guys!

 

As many of you know (and some may not yet) the servers will be down from 1am PST on Monday until the same time Tuesday, a 24-hour downtime for the patch 3.1 release.

 

Yikes, right? 

 

To help pass the time, my FC, Wanderers & Exiles, will be hosting a Skype Group Chat for the purpose of RP. For those who've never done RP outside of an MMO, it's basically exactly the same as you're already used to except that everything is text - nobody has a visual reference, so you'll need to cue them in about character details that would otherwise be obvious (e.g. the character has black hair, or is an Elezen, etc). There's also no chat commands, so you just write in a standard sentence format. 

 

The setting for the Skype Group Chat will be The Carline Canopy in New Gridania, which should be a pretty familiar setting for most players to be able to imagine. If you'd like to participate, please reply to this thread with your Skype username (not screen name, screen name), and when the day arrives I'll send out contact requests and get everyone pulled in.

 

Please bear in mind that after joining the Skype Group Chat you may experience a high volume of Skype notifications if the chat becomes active due to people enjoying some RP. You do not need to leave the group in order to reduce notifications - you can disable them entirely with the chat command "/alertsoff", or, you can set it to notify you only when someone posts specific keywords with the chat command "/alertson [keywords]" in which you replace the term [keywords] with your chosen keywords (such as your character's name, topics which interest you, etc).
