Loving the Roegadyns

Female Roegadyn seem to attract a...certain kind of player. A type of player commonly referred to as a "futa", a commonly seen type of erotic roleplayer. People might be reluctant to talk to you if they suspect you might be one of these kinds of players. This can usually be avoided by not wearing the hempen top in conjunction with the starter pants, a common uniform that these kinds of players employ. Other things that might help are not being level 1, not having the little sprout by your name, not referring you yourself as "highest quality" via auto translate, and not mentioning the bulge barely contained in your tight leather pants or bikini bottom in your search comment. Though I am not saying that all female Roegadyn are played by these kinds of people, as there are plenty of sensible roleplayers that play female Roegadyn, it is still something that is all too commonly seen, leaving the race/gender combo with a certain reputation for being well endowed where they should not be.

Male Roegadyn have nothing to worry about. They have the bara community at their back, a normally jolly community of similarly built brothers, which is only unfortunate if you do not wish to partake in bara festivities that include but are not limited to posing in leopard print underwear, flexing in leopard print underwear, and discussing workout routines with your brothers while wearing leopard print underwear. Please note that the bara community is not restricted to Roegadyn only and has a sizeable sub community of Highlander males as well, which may be a minus or a plus depending on how you feel about being in your underwear around men who are smaller than you.

I feel now as though I should also note that I did not feel as though a "futa community" existed in a solid enough state to be worth mentioning as most futa seem to be independent and adverse to holding social gatherings as the bara community does. That is not to say that they do not have social gatherings at all and may in fact have them in more secluded locations. I do not know. I am simply an outsider reporting my own observations to OP. I am in no way affiliated with any race or body type specific community. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure I've posted this picture on these forums before.

I'm pretty sure you won't mind.

If you can't tell, many Roes have an exhibitionism streak.

How I feel about this picture.

I've seen some handsome Roe men. In fact Solmund has a Roe acquaintance he plans court. You'll have no trouble scoring hotties as a Roe.

How to say it... Was that guy implying that people should choose a race solely on their ability to draw RP romance, or ERP, or whatever?

The thing that struck me when getting into the FFXIV RP community is the emphasis put on IC love and romance. Don't take me wrong, the community has proven to be really awesome, nice, and full of determined people with a general good atmosphere... It's just that everywhere I look, from RP players sheets to... wikis, there is always that central mention of views and stances on romance.

Is that such a central part to everyone's RP? (I know it can be powerful, but still?)

Yeah. Romance is often given way too much focus in pretty much any mainstream MMO. I've lost count of the amount of role-players who have just suddenly cut off all contact upon realising that they're not going to have an instant hookup with my character.

It's not just 'the people in the Quicksand' who are the blame, either. They're exploited as convenient scapegoats but a lot of 'regular' role-players act that way too from what I've seen.

As with so many other things moderation is key.

It's not that I disparage how common it is. I just feel I lack the writing skill to craft a really touching romance. It's a genre that I've never had a strong interest in, though I am trying to address that, and I think my real relationships have been rather pedestrian or brief. They're just really boring in a literary sense. That being said, I'm sometimes very interested in others' romance plots, since the only ones I feel I've been able to do in other RP were generally of the tragic, short variety... I want to make my character suffer after all, not retire at a ripe old age. That unhealthy obsession story structure still is entertaining.

But that's a digression. I picked my race to avoid romance RP and people still brought it to me. Considering that, I don't think OP should have a problem. Just get to know a bunch of other characters and let it happen.

That's true, but I'm not sure whether that's because Roe on Roe love is a rare flower or if Barrod is just incredibly prolific.

I do know a few Roe couples, and have done some Roemance myself, and I know a lot of Roes with smaller partners. For whatever reasons, sometimes it just doesn't pan out between Roes, and if you can't love the one you want, love the one you're with.

Roe love?  Roe love.

To be honest, I only had one ic relationship last more than a few days on any of my roegadyn, before schedule differences caused it to tank.

  • 1 month later...

I really like the Roegadyns and when I created my character it was a toss up between them or the Highlanders. Ultimately, I settled on the latter just because I preferred the male's more muscled aesthetic compared to how more... pudgy and 'bear-ish' the Roegadyn men are. If I opt to make an alt though, I know which race I'll be firing up.

Incidentally, a friend who joined me in the game sent me this last night.

[08:19:50] Ok so, tonight I learned that people on FF really have things for super tall marauders. And Im a little creeped out.

[08:20:24] My roegaden had like, kisses blown at her while questing from about 3 different people, and one tried to add me randomly as a friend, and another partied up while I was killing sheep.

[08:20:36] Friggin FF m8 sware on me mam
